Obviously the chances of that are theoratically small, but German scientists have proven to be very clever in the past so I wouldn't bet against them.

Anyway, it all kicks off 8 AM tomorrow...Be prepared :)

Are these the same breed of german scientists that vastly miscalculated the amount of uranium needed to make a nuclear bomb?

To the best of my knowledge I'm pretty sure it will make micro black holes that live for an infinitesimally small amount of time - there would be not enough available energy to sustain them. I'd be more worried about a controlled fusion experiment going out of control and becoming a black hole. I read a short story called Bobo's Star which had a good description of what might happen.

Stephen hawking has bet $100 that they won't find the Higgs Boson. I think it'll take years before we know what it does, other than giving lots of nice jobs to physicists - assuming the world doesn't end tomorrow.

I give it less odds than 72 vs AA with a AA7 flop

did you counted disconect protection on such board in? o.O?

I love how everyone has a comedic approach to the matter , but since they are allowed to do this experiment , even if nothing wrong happens now , they ll start taking a more and more dangerous approach "in the name of science" , conduct more risky experiments and eventually fuck up big time.
I believe ignorance makes us happier anyway. Finding out the answers to what we are , where we come from etc and further proof of how insignificant we are to the universe will rather cause depression than satisfaction.

well dont want to upset you.. or something.. but eventualy some idiot will launch a nuke.. in a name of "POWER" or in the name of stupidity xD and what hapens then? download defcon.. xD
not to mention a nuciliar winter will come after that ^^
so im like w/e they can blow up everything xD
look at the bright side.. if they wont screw up.. atleast it will benifit humanity in some way xD

I would bet against them! How could I possibly lose that bet??

Uhhh, dangerousss science.. Do you know what dangerous is? U.S. Senators! And Pamela Anderson on PMS :) Particle physics is harmless.

And I'd be pretty happy if they didn't find the damn' Higgs. A new era for theoretical physics \m/

not helping me play poker

i think i have brain cancer dunno sounds frightening tho need to check up

world end for me very sooon

ps i still have 20 dollar bonus left yeahhh!!! plz help can't win at dollar table sng

The fear is being stirred up mostly by religious 'scientists'. The results of this experiment may well blow their stone age magic creation theories out of the water - yet again.

Hey guys, Im still alive. How are you doing? Already seen some black holes flying by?

I just read this in another forum..

"Looked and there we were all worrying
about a random astroid slamming into the earth and wiping out civilisation - or some looney leader of the world hitting the nuke button. But all along we were most in danger of being collectively sucked up our own ar$ehol! Nice...."

They have successfully circled beams counter clockwise and clockwise. Watch it here (live webcast started 8.30AM GMT+2):

Yes!

we're screwed xD

Hey CardBender420! I wanna be your associate, may I??

anyway, they have to callibrate the damn thing, one of the physicists explained that maken the two beams collide was like launching two needles across the atlantic an try to make them crash with each other..

so, were safe for the next few weeks :)

anyone played doom?

nothing to be afraid of
