I am on the managing board of several companies, some of which are performing very well atm. As you can imagine this involves full focus and 100% business mindset which is why I decided to completely stop playing (already earlier this year) and now also coaching for PokerStrategy. Once in a while when I feel like it I will play HS live or coach somebody privately, but for the most part I am out of the game. This is not a surprising step for most of you who followed my blog over the last years as I have always said that Poker won't be my priority forever and I will try hard to follow role models like Pinky&Brain or Elon Musk. I studied Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. More than the academic involvement though I am living the entrepreneurial mindset. I love to build shit and the journey has just started. Poker was a great teacher and the timing was perfect. I could finance my university life and two years of travelling while also putting aside enough cash to start business ventures. Gotta the game!

I will not leave without giving you some final advice:

For those who have been around this community and are playing seriously for a while, let me tell you: Reflect. Be self critical. Analyze. Improve. Some of you are blogging here (which is good) but have not improved enough over the years. You need to realize your failures and work on them, as hard as you can. Which means way harder than you are currently doing. There is no excuse for not giving 100%. There is no shortcut to success. Not in poker and nowhere else. Continuous hard work wins the race. As Aristotle put it: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Or in the words of Ovid: "Adde parvum parvo magnus acervus erit"

For those of you who are new to the game, new to the community let me tell you: It won't be easy to make serious money with poker. In fact, it will be very tough and most of you won't succeed. However, people have shown in the past and still do that with the right attitude and work ethics, everything is possible in this game. From 2010 but I still agree with the post, so you might want to check out some thoughts on poker from back then when I was in the middle of my poker journey: TwiceT made it! 1st engl. community black member I still agree with what I wrote a few years ago, might be worth checking out for a few of you.

I will sometimes check out the blog section and you know my Skype, so I won't disappear. Don't get confused, my blue avatar will be exchange by a black one soon. I am sure to see some of you anyway in the future in different business environments

What up guys? Don't worry, no poker strategy post to come (read our book, enough wisdom in there :P) ... some thoughts on finance (regulated and non regulated markets) and some questions for members and mods.

I) My Approach
For friends and family I am regularly looking into green and ethical investments (mostly stocks, funds, real estates) and running a small "fund". Other than that I am living and thinking business 24/7 for the most part, we teamed up and work on companies mostly in IT and energy with the goal of extending our business holding in the spirit of Pinky&Brain as well as Dagobert Duck (ofc in a "do good and spread the love" way). While my longterm vision is being involved in sustainable projects that make a positive impact for our little planet, I also have to engage in neutral EV areas (poker, finance ... you name it) as well. I would never be involved in totally unethical or nature-exploiting projects. However, I think to really change things on a bigger scale, we need good connections and influential networks in many industries and fields (also politics probably at one point), a big crew of smart, like-minded business partners and colleagues as well as a lot of play money. As a consequence I am always nervously looking for new opportunities, I cannot sit still until world domination has been reached. ♦

II) Investing
#1 rule of investing is to start with yourself. Invest in your own education, invest in your own house (adapt so you use less energy and are not so dependent on energy sources outside your area of influence (that's also true for nations, that's why renewables are also key from a geo-political standpoint)), invest in your kids, invest in your local community by sponsoring the kid's football club, invest in your own company/project etc. Once you have done that and there is still money left, you can think of something else. Usually we want to have a well distributed investment portfolio with stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate and - if you like high risk, high reward game like me - you can mix in some private equity gambles. This post is about when "we have something left". I was always wondering why poker players don't pool their money more often to a) stake others, b) gamble on the lottery c) sidebet on a bigger scale vs business people or just degenerate poker highrollers d) fund startups e) invest in stocks and/or funds f) gamble on esports g) pool USD to gamble on various CryptoCurrencies like BTC .... together. Not only will that enable more diversification due to bigger funds but also optimize decisions (few smart brains > one smart brain).

III) My questions
1) Am I just not seeing those activities, or why don't poker pros team up more often? I know a few groups privately, but a surprisingly small number. I assume it's because the gambling environment is full of scammers (you don't have to tell me lol, I lost my fair share to them - I would even +1 a black list or so where all of them are fully marked with all details of their scams)
2) Why do big poker platforms like PS not coach finance basics at all? Becoming a 3bb winner after being b/e is one thing, but making sure to think about the moniez made is maybe even more important. I am also surprised it's not more of a topic amongst users.
3) If I wanted to start a "+EV gambling pool" of poker players focusing on sidebets, digital currencies, stakings, esports etc. - basically everything you can think of in an unregulated market like we are here - what would be the rules in this forum? Would I be allowed to talk about / promote it in this blog or other parts of the forum? If so, would I be free in setting the rules to join such a group?
4) What if I talked about stuff regarding regulated markets, e.g. an "investment fund by poker players" with a real European legal entity - would that make a difference to 3)?
5) How do you see the side- and prop bet scene these days online on 2+2, PS and other platforms as well as in live casinos (or on the golf course etc)? Is there a market to +EV gamble vs the degenerate gamblers and wealthy business men?
6) What else besides the things I mentioned on the non-regulated side of the market can you think of for such a "+EV gambling fund"?

I just wanted to think loudly and brainstorm a bit, thnx for any input Would be great to also get a short answer by a mod about the questions regarding talking about it in here before I share more thoughts on it.
Ofc this is not helping anybody directly, but I still consider all that neutral EV and not hurting anyone (if I am wrong, pls tell me!) and in the longrun I commit all those earnings to invest in highly sustainable and ethical projects (not that it's easy to determine which ones qualify, but with dedicated research you can get pretty close to "the truth" imho).

1) yea, you nailed it. It's tough to find 5+ ppl who are interested in an unregulated gambling fund, have enough funds to make it happen and have great reputations so that others can trust them fully. More often than not, you have to know each individual investor personally before you can trust them enough imo.

2) I'd say you're overestimating the amount of ppl who actually make >2k$ per month of expendable income by playing poker.

3) would be interested in such group, given that there were very strict rules in place regarding who can join and who gets to decide what to invest the pool's money on.

4) I'm not sure i understand what you mean. Are you saying it'd be a LLC? That would prly make me even more interested, although not sure under what legislation that would be viable strategy.

5) Can't comment much on this, since i'm don't propbet regularly. But based on my viewpoint, it seems that manymanymany people in the poker world still have huge problems with their egos.

6) I'm sure more ideas would quickly arise, if such fund got started. Seems like the organisational side of running such fund might become too tough to manage. Don't see people willing to pay commissions/fees/etc for participating in such fund.

I generally agree with alot of Shevs points but I will contribute a few of my own.

1) There are a few reasons why I think there are so many scammers in the poker world which is why people don't form groups like this often:
a) the nature of poker: poker is and has always been a "hustle" game so naturally it attracts people of questionable morals. Also, many poker players have atleast a mild gambling addiction and like all addictions, it can cause you to do things that you would never do otherwise.
b)the nature of the internet: you don't know the people you are talking to online personally. Even if you spend hundreds of hours talking and doing sweats with someone over skype, you dont know them and their personal situation. There is quite a bit of social pressure to be ethical in person while this doesnt exist online where you are dealing with people who live in different cities, countries, and even continents.

2) Doesn't pokerstrategy have a "tradimo" section/affiliate? The vast majority of poker "pros" barely make enough to live a decent life, they dont have much to invest. Another thing that sorta sucks about poker is that you need a ton of "working capital" that serves as your poker bankroll. This means you need alot of cash that you cannot invest incase you run bad. For people who are playing decent stakes this is often in the tens of thousands of dollars.

3) Personally would not be interested. I have gotten scammed for alot of money in a staking agreement and afterwhich I decided to not invest with poker players/gambers ever. Its a personal preference though, I wish you guys the best of luck.

4)I would also guess LLC, but I dont really know. You are the business pro here.

5) Personally I dont make bets like this but I think there might be some +EV bets available. I am a little scared of getting freerolled due to the unscrupulus nature of gamblers.

6) I don't know, but if you guys start one of these funds I don't doubt that you will be able to come up with ideas.
