October Update
Online
So i basically give up on my online goals for the year at this point and just started messing about with some MTT's and SNG's in preparation for the Boylepoker IPO Dublin.
Live
I played 4 tourneys this month and final tabled one where I finished 3rd and cashed. My next tourney was at the IPO Dublin and was the €50 turbo event. I played pretty solid in this tourney which got 80 runners and had just started to increase my chip stack nicely to around 18k. I got into a hand with a guy at the other side of my table who was playing very loose, he also seemed to be hitting everything. So I have 78s and raise and the loose villian calls. He donks out the flop which I have top pair (7's) and an OESD I raise him here as I think he could be on the flush draw or just two paint cards as his play up to this point is all over the place and I have seen him fold in the same kind of spot at least twice before. On the turn the Flush draw completes and he bets I call to see what he does on the river and when the river comes he checks it. I go into the tank for a minute and think that he still might just have to over cards and the only way for me to win the pot now is to shove, I shove for what is about a pot sized bet on the river and he snaps me of with a straight flush....
(Shoving into the nuts never gets a fold)
Again here in this tourney my girlfriend out plays me and makes it to the final table where she finishes in 5th place lol.
The next day was the €200 main event. I played day 1c and I found it to be a real grind. I was hardly over my 30k starting stack until I was down till around 18k and that was the story for worst of the day until just before my table broke I doubled up with an all in preflop I was holding Bullets while the villian held AJ that double up put me over 40k for the irst time that day I then went to my new table which would be my last table of day 1c I picked up aces within the first half hour and 3bet all in the OR called and tabled QQ so that had me up to around 75kI then went on to win another decent size pot that put me around 90k. In that hand I head J10s and flop top pair (jacks) with an open ended straight flush draw I bet the flop and got call by the guy who had dobled me up not to long before. The turn card give me the straight and I bet again and got called, When the river paired the board I feared my opponent might have a full house but I planned to check call but he checked behind and showed his hand, he had the lower end of the straight, he thought he had won the hand as he looked confused when the dealer pushed the chips towards me.
I ended day 1c with 76.5k with blinds starting at 1k/2k on day 2. Day two I had a tough enough table draw as there were 3 fairly active players that had position on me I did manage to knock a player out when I called a short stack all in with 99, he held J9. I increased my stack that day to around 125k but that was as far as it was to go as the blinds and antes got higher and the premium hands were few and far between. I ended up shoving from the SB into the BB when it folded round to me and I held K5s the BB tanked for around 3/4 minutes I had around 75k with blinds at 3k/6k he had about 85/90k he finally called and tabled 88. The flop brought nothing and then BOOM a king on the turn... then an 8 on the river sent me to the rail.
Overall it was another great weekend at the IPO and I spent plenty of time at the bar talking to friends and also having watching in on friends playing in side events and one or two that were still going strong in the main. As a group of poker players enjoying a fun weekend We had two players final table side events and another two cash in the main event with the best finish being 36th out of a field of over 1300, I only managed 265th.
Until next year.....
