There are only two ways to make money in no-limit hold’’em.

1. Make the best hand.
2. Steal the pot.

There are only two resources you need to improve your poker career: Time and Money. The way you manage them will settle how far you will go.

It might seem a bit obvious to anyone nowadays but the most significant lesson I ever learned was how betting gives you 2 ways to win the pot (you having the best hand or your opponent not having a strong enough hand to call).

I had been playing for about 5 months and the only winnings I had to my name was £2.50 from a freeroll, until I read "The Little Green Book" by Phil Gordon and learned how to play aggressive poker and it wasn't long after I had read this book I won my first tournament and have had a pretty decent record since then.
