Preflop: Hero is MP3 with T:d, Q:s.
7 folds, SB raises to $1.00, BB folds, SB gets uncalled bet back.

I'm tightening up my preflop range, I think I could have opened here with QTo though. What range can I raise here?

Hey viewer88,

44+, A8s+, A4s-A2s, KTs+, QTs+, J9s+, T8s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, 65s, ATo+, KJo+

So QTo is outside that range imo.

That's roughly a 17% range.

That looks surprisingly tight to me! Is this a range you get from a chart somewhere? I'm looking to improve my preflop ranges

No, this is a range I designed myself. We do still want to be reasonably tight from MP.

This is a default range though. Obviously we can expand this range if fish in the blinds. We can tighten it if aggro guys in position on us.

This range is simply what I recommend as a default with unknowns behind us. I definitely think hands like QTo are too loose from MP as standard opens. QTs is fine though.

thanks a lot! It is weird to me that you would raise 44 and not 22 and 33, is this a "balancing act"?

I have tightened up my range a lot during my last sessions and started to use the openraising chart for guidance. Your range looks like a better, more balanced starting point, do you have it typed out for all FR positions?

Not for balance as such. Basically it's allowable to fold 22-66 from UTG. Seems logical to me that rather than immediately jumping to all PP's once we move to MP that we open 44+ from MP and all PP's from CO.

However, generally speaking, if you prefer you can open all PP's from all positions. It's not bad to do so, it's just that these hands are often not that profitable if you are playing in a tough game.

I mainly just have SH charts typed out because I specialise in SH games.
