Being unexploitable is overrated, best to stay exploitative. And inherently, the only way we can do this is by being exploitable.

For example, if villain is a complete nit in the BB, we can just minraise 100% from the BU to exploit the guy, and obviously this is very exploitable in the process. But we don't care _cool:

So, the first month of 2014 is over. It was going really well until the $60s cartel started off. I started running badly as soon as they started and for a few days have been wondering whether the regs in it just crush me. But last night I did some reviewing of my games and found that I was just running shitty in card distribution as all the spots were pretty standard given villain's stats and reads. However, on a whole I am enjoying battling the regs, I can feel myself improving and the volume is great! Funnily enough, I managed to get a fish yesterday, and played him for 20 games or so, I lost more EV to him than to any of the regs :f_biggrin: He just looooved rivering 2 pair.

After getting crushed all day I finally managed to make Platinum at about 6pm yesterday, so I decided to take the evening off playing. I just chilled out as a reward for putting the volume in and actually sticking to a goal i'd set for myself! Had a pizza, reviewed some of my games vs regs, played FIFA and watched a film.

Monthly graph, loving the NonSD winnings

Spoiler

I am to make Platinum this month as well, but it's going to be much, much harder. There's 3 days less in the month, plus a ton of stuff going on in real life. Next Sunday me and the gf are going to Edinburgh for a few days as a birthday treat for her, then we have the rest of the week off together before her 21st party on the Saturday, so really that's nearly a whole week of poker written off. Although saying that, this month I had at least 5 days written off due to moving house, so maybe i'll manage it!

My main aim for February is to get +EV vs the $60s cartel, there are quite a few regs in there that I know I can beat, and a ton of others that i've never played before, and a few that have beat me over small samples. Let's see what we can do!

Bumping it up from page 6! :f_biggrin:

Been pretty much absent from poker lately, laptop has been in a really shitty place (Still not properly fixed, but some makeshift DIY with insulation tape has improved it's problems), motivation has been low, tiredness has been high and I've been trying to explore some other options. I dropped down to $30s after getting crushed by the cartel for a while so I could improve confidence.

I'm hoping I can sort my laptop out and get back to grinding regularly and improve my 2 tabling game, which is actually much better than I thought it was :)

Holy shit, nearly 3 months since I updated here!

To be honest, my volume has still been pretty bad, I've been spending a lot of time doing some freelance writing to earn some variance free extra cash. But i'm nearing the end of my work with that so can start grinding more again. I'm currently putting in around 12 hours/week and, after this week is over, hope to increase that to 20 hours.

It gets hard over summer though, it's brilliant weather here (which is an major rarity) so I want to be outside enjoying it more. But, I need to get some work done The upswing helps though, over the last 1.5k games or so I have crushed it, with a 5% EV ROI, and double that in real ROI. I'm up something like 125BI over that period

Badly. Haha, started the downswing after my epic upswing, down just over $1k so far this month.

Still struggling with volume, I'm working my job 5 hours extra per week and have also had a steady stream of freelance work coming in, which makes my days pretty busy. To be honest, whilst I've got this freelance work I can't see myself moving back to $60s, because I just don't have the time to put into reg warring to try and get into the 'Division'.

If you feel good about your game, id still take a shot, you need min 3k games, seems doable even with full time job.
