Great stuff by ramble and Pauln, two guys who I have a lot of respect for.
I 20 table stacked then 16 tile after I lose 4.
Why do I play so many tables? I play these amounts because it's challenging for me.
I want to challenge myself and see how far I can take it. I personally thought 8 was the max for me, but after adding more tables and pushing myself, 8 isn't the max anymore.
I also mass table because one of my role models in poker is Randy Lew also known as nanonoko. I saw a video of him mass tabling 24 tables and I told myself that I'll be able to do that one day and efficiently too.
Honestly I would say I'm on autopilot 90% of the time and the 10% is when I'm making an estimate on my opponents pushing/calling range. The majority of the players at $1.50 either play at level 0 or 1 so I don't really need to play anything other than ABC poker to be profitable. Of course I don't play ABC because it's boring, but I'm just saying.
I can move up, but I have personal goals that I set for myself awhile ago that I want to achieve like gold star playing on 1.50 games. When I move up, I'll cut down the tables so I can become use to the difference in play and then eventually mass table again.
Moreover, I think it's good to start mass tabling at the 1.50 because when you move up, you'll already know your table cap. When you move up too soon, you won't know whether you can physically and mentally endure 15+ tables at a time.
Another thing I want to talk about is of course money and ROI. Say we have a 6 tabler playing 4 hours a day because he has commitments outside of poker. So that's 24 games a day and say he makes 16 cents a game, therefore he is expected to make $3.84 a day from playing poker casually. Now say we have a mass tabler playing 20 tables and the same amount of time.
Say he makes 7 cents a game which is within reason IMO. So he makes $5.60 a day and that's excluding cash bonuses he will get too. Although the mass tablet will make more money in the long run, his swings will be crazier than the 6 tablers because of ROI differences.
Overall, I play so many tables because it challenges me, it challenges me to make quicker decisions in hot spots because my time is limited. I used to sweat a lot playing a lot of tables, now I don't.
If it means anything, only mass table because you want to and want to push yourself. Although the pro poker players do make good points, the decision is ultimately up to you.
