Is 25% rake live mtt profitable?

next month I am going to melbourn and I checked the local casino's time schedule, and found out most mtt is like 40+10, 80+20 ,100+25,170+30
so that means 25% rake.

As I know most live casino mtt players are very fishy, but is it 25% rake really profitable? Or is it just pure wasting money and time?

what about those 170+30 (17.6% rake)

In you guys consideration what percentage of rake would be considered profitable?

oh, by the way another question , in casino the game with 1000 plus buyins the rake would be lower ,however is that kind of game have more shark? is low stake tournament more fishy?
and I dont have too much bank roll in live tournament

Obviously a tournament with 1k$ buyin is harder then a tournament with 100$ buyin.

Personally I would only play the low buyin tournaments for the lolz. There is no big value in them with such a high rake. At the same time you should still be able to play them profitably if you are good enough.

my main income come from online but sometimes it is fun to play some live ones if it is profitable lol

I think it is still profitable too because
even the cash game low stake charge 10% , high stake (2/3 plus level) charge 5% rake plus 5 dollar per hour entry fee.

so 25% rake is no a big deal. considering tournament have a lot of allin and change hand of chips, 25% rake is still much lower than the cash game in my opinion

One of the reason I like to play sng or mtt (especially mtt)in ps is that actually the rake is way way lower than cash game ♠_biggrin:
