February 6th3 successful cash game players (all 500nl regs) take in a builder off the street who is banging too loud and offer him private coaching, to live with them and to live a poker life for 6 months, starting at 2nl and moving up whenever he has won 5bb over 20,000 hands. He will play fast poker, after 6 months where do you think we would end up?
The question is not where the builder would end up. The questions where would WE end up.
My guess is that we would be happily playing poker.
The builder would be happily building stuff, and probably still banging too loudly.
If the builder is an OK sport, with reasonable intelligence, he would likely end up as a decent recreational reg at NL 10 to NL 25.
If he is stubborn, is unwilling to put in the study time (or a host of other vices that get in the way), he may end up tilted, frustrated and angry.
Good question though.
Maybe take a random mathematician instead, and get two coaches to bring him along to NL 100 in the course of a year and maybe write a book about the experience.
I'd buy it. ![]()
