I pick up pocket queens in MP, I isolate an open limper in UTG + caller in +1. I hit a good flop a make a standard c-bet from value and protection. I am glad to in position so that I control the pot size. Villain check/calls the flop and turn and I feel a set is unlikely as he would have possibly wanted to raise and that it more likely he has middle pocket pair like 99 or perhaps 55 that hit an OESD on the turn.
The river brings an A and I am unsure whether or not I have a value bet on the river in this situation. My initial thought was 'no worse hand would call' as I felt my opponent was calling down with a pocket pair in this spot.
Am I missing out on value by trying to avoid a check/raise on the river?
