:f_cool: =)

It's amazing that I'd never listened to these beasts before... I need to put more effort into renewing my grindlist :f_rolleyes:

Not that much is now left to wait for their new album - only 3 months (exactly) =)

I never actually found optimal music for cash game sessions... which made me think that not listening music while playing these is best thing to do. However, I recommend this if you are: 3-4 tabling hyper husngs, 12+ tabling 6max hypers, 25+ tabling turbo fifty50's :) :

and

warning: don't try this if you are already playing too aggro :)

I just have the player attention beep as the only sound whilst grinding, sad yeah but keeps me focused.

I managed about 10 seconds before turning it off, but I think if you ever want to get into hyper aggro mode this is the music to get you there!!

That sounds a bit like my mother's tonometer :f_biggrin:

As far as default 'your turn' beeps, Microgaming > iPoker > FTP = Revolution (plagiarists!) >>> Stars (= Ongame iirc) >>> Boss to my ear (the Boss one being at the bottom because it plays after every autofold, wth).

Btw, in case someone missed a discussion of the effect of music on focus, here's that thread :f_thumbsup:

Distinct lack of metal in this thread. Don't know how you can play aggressive poker without distorted guitars and double bass pedals.

used to listen hardwell a lot when i was just starting, tomorrowland and stuff, but lately as im still trying to become a 'real' poker player, i have been playing without any music. Some say it helps you concentrate better... still not sure if that works or not though :f_grin:

MJPerry, thanks for cheering templars of steel up!

I just thought it would be too boring to post things all fans of a certain genre have listened to. E.g. my grindlist is filled mainly by Stratovarius and Hammerfall but I realise it would be dull to anyone else as these bands are famous (not as famous as your examples, but still).

I'm yet to find a 'non-standard', beginning band that people would be interested in. Say, I'm a huge fan of I Am King, whom I found quite at random, but their post-hardcore is formally not even metal, I doubt people will approve of them, though their texts are really philosophically deep.

And as I said in the discussion thread linked above, not every genre of metal works well with poker. Suddenly, calm genres like power work better specifically while grinding because they're a background that doesn't make me spew and gives me subliminal messages for self-development. My grindlist is intentionally quite free of screamo vocals and references to females because they both make me too anxious.

As for the lack of poker metalheads... well, that's not because it's not suitable for grinding, but because music preferences of most people form before they're 18, and they usually don't change them if they start playing poker.

I'm rather an exception here, having started listening to music remotely often only at about 25 when I started grinding full-time, that's when I became exclusive with metal (and post-hardcore and hard rock, if we nitpick) due to its abovementioned help with focus.

Oops, my grindlist is such a comfortable background now that I've forgotten what it consists of. I've just examined it, and the most prevalent band there is...

Spoiler

SoaD :f_o: Almost the entire 'Toxicity' album, as I have it on a CD - a leftover from my brother's youth - and am too lazy to download their other tracks. Which proves once more that they produce just beautiful and comfortable music, while their lyrics usually don't make a clear sense and have too many interpretations :f_grin:

 Cowboys from hell

I usually listen something on mixcloud. Usually some ambient, light drum and bass or progressive house.
My favorite http://www.mixcloud.com/nicholasmiller/the-gift/
Other than that I also really enjoy funky and disco rhythms, but that usually gets me reaaaaaaaly funkadelic and I'm just groovin' so can't focus on poker.
But when I want to mindlessly grind zoom then it's The Prodigy or AC/DC .
My favorite performers most likely are Wu Tang Clan & Led Zeppelin. Many consider that weird, but I like sooo many different musical styles and most of them reminds me of some period of time in my life..
I don't know why I wrote this. whatever.

BTW AC/DC will release new album and do a world tour celebrating their 40th anniversary _thumbsup:

Depends on my mood. I often play house mixes such as

However, when I'm feeling like playing actual serious poker, I just search for relaxing music and end up playing a whole session with this:

To be honest, I think it's still best if you play with no music whatsoever, that way your focus will be at your best, and you're going to play your A-game. But I still find it way more amusing to play with some sort of a background music.
