it is mathematically incorrect to raise/fold with this short stack. you are putting in almost 1/3 of your stack pre-flop with a raise.

very basic SnG strategy, 10bbs or less is shove or fold.

Why is it mathematically incorrect? I probably wouldn't do it as short as parodiq did. But with 8-9BB I think you can r/f here from time to time, when you think you have enough FE. For example if the players behind only reshove the range they would call against a shove, I think r/f would be better than shove. If they reshove you get something around 2:1 pot odds and against their range you don't have the equity to call it of (including icm-tax). I don't see why this would be mathematically incorrect. Of course you shouldn't do it too often.

you have the required equity against their ranges in any possible situation.

ICM tax 5 handed isn't as harsh for us as the short stack.
you also aren't including the hands they might flat call vs a min-raise which they would fold vs a shove.

with 9-10 it becomes more debatable. but OP has 7bbs. it is not even close.
