I was trying to slow play my opponent with my set of 7's off the flop. Was this the right move? I think I played it well up until the river when I got greedy and wanted as much as I could get. Besides that any suggestions?

Known Players:
MP1: $0.33 - 7 bb
MP2: $7.54 - 151 bb
MP3: $2.73 - 55 bb
CO: $5.00 - 100 bb
BU: $2.32 - 46 bb
SB: $5.42 - 108 bb
BB: $5.00 - 100 bb

0.02/0.05 No Limit Hold'em (7 Handed)
Hand recorder for this hand: PokerStrategy.com SideKick 2.0.10210.1

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7♥, 7♣
SB posts small blind ($0.02), Hero posts big blind ($0.05), MP1 folds, MP2 raises for $0.15, 4 folds, Hero calls

Flop: ($0.32 - 6.40 bb) J♠, 9♠, 7♦ (2 Players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $0.15, Hero calls

Turn: ($0.62 - 12.40 bb) 4♣ (2 Players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $0.35, Hero calls

River: ($1.32 - 26.40 bb) J♦ (2 Players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $0.65, Hero raises for $4.35 and is all in, MP2 calls

MP2 ended up having 99 so they had the better full house.

edit: Forgot to mention I'm going to bed. I have to work in the morning. So I'll check back in before I leave to work. Thanks!!

I'm not a coach, but I would like to give my opinion on your hand since I did play a lot of NL5.

The shove all-in on the river is pretty standard imo. I would do it aswell and be pretty happy about it. People will call you with any J and possibly overpairs. What I would have donne differently tho is raising on the flop and possibly turn since it is pretty drawy. But the river shove is +EV I think. It's just a cooler that you run into a higher set.

Hi rosieplays,

I would definitely raise that flop, turn at the latest. And yeah, he having 99 is just a cooler. I would be happy to put money in as soon as possible on this board.

Also, I'm talking about play vs random villain or unknown. If you play vs some crazy aggressive fish who 3 barrels his whole range here, than I could find more passive play probably bcs I wouldn't like to kick his bluffs out obv. Either way, you will never be wrong with raising this wet flop, that's for sure.

Best of luck,
Fran

Ok. Thanks for the advice. If the flop wasn't as drawy would you suggest I slow play? Or should I just wait until I'm more experienced to add that into my play?

Yeah slow- playing is much more better on dry boards, especially vs very aggressive players postflop (we don't want to scare them off).
