Hi guys!
I'm happy to announce that the Skyrocket Your Productivity Video Workshop is available!

In this video workshop, I share with you some new concepts that I've developed over the last couple of years. This video workshop will help you get even more out of the Quick Guide to Skyrocketing Your Poker and Life Productivity.
It includes:
- A 129-minute video of the SYP Workshop (Designing your own systems, System examples, 30-minute Q & A)
- A video of the extra 60-minute Q & A session
- The System Design Worksheet
- 48 System Templates and Guidelines

I haven't really shared these concepts in public before, although I did test them out myself, as well as with my 1on1 coaching clients.

One of the biggest mistakes that poker players make when they try to become 6-figure poker players is to try and do everything on their own.
This is actually very similar to what a lot of software engineers do - they prefer to do everything on their own, locked in a dark room.
My friend Raj was one of those people.
He thought that he doesn't need to talk to anyone to succeed.
But once he was forced to start connecting with other people in order to get a job that he wanted, everything changed.
With time, a lot of different opportunities opened up that he would only be able to dream about had he not improved his social skills and connected with others:
- He is now managing a meet up group of 1200 software engineers in Atlanta
- He managed to get a job in one of the hottest start ups in atlanta
- He contacted the author of a best-selling book called "Education for Millionaires", and will be featured in his next book
- He managed to get meetings with the chairpersons and the COO of Atlanta
In this interview, we talk about how he did it and also how you can apply the strategies and tactics he used to accelerate your poker career.
Enjoy!

Hi guys!
It's been a while since I've finished this guide, and since December I've been working on something similar to it, with a different perspective.
Instead of going wide into a subject such as productivity, I went deep into the subject of motivation and wrote something that I believe is the most complete guide to motivation in both poker and life.
With over 20 chapters and more than 11.000 words, it's also the most extensive guide I've written after this guide.
This guide will only be available here on the pokerstrategy forums, because I want to give back to the community that has given me so much over the last few years.
So, without further ado, I present to you:
Enjoy!

Hey Primoz,
I have been following your work at PS for a while now and am a big fan with your approaches. Applied for your latest seminar and will dedicate time in the future to watch all your videos, read the guide and start working on things from it all that I need.
If you don't mind I would like to ask you some questions, I think you are the best person to ask this and get advice for these. Appreciate it in advance man!
Before actual questions, I want to give you just a quick and brief intro into what I do and what I look for so that you can respond better.
I am 30 years old, play poker for living (it became my career path year and a half ago), do well in that area (used to be involved in coaching and staking but now I play on my own and make much more money obviously), coach students also (currently coach 6 guys), teach guitar (coach 12 hours a month currently) and have passion for many other things in life. I am also professional musician (guitar player) and this was my primary thing in my life (graduated and taught at Berklee College of Music) and career up until I took on poker year and a half ago. I also like spending time with friends and family, traveling, enjoying life in general. I would say for myself that I am open to always learning, improving and setting new goals/challenges and aiming high in general.
Since I am doing a lot of things now and trying to balance my life the way I want it, I need some help on how to set up system/habit for following things:
- Healthy eating
- Frequent physical activity = weight loss
- Taking advantage of all my free time to be super productive (maximizing on my productivity)
Questions:
1) What would you suggest for healthy eating ?
I lost my habit of preparing food (used to do it while I lived abroad) and most of my day I spend in our poker office (11am to 8-9pm). I created a month ago plan for meals but I simply could not follow it (it might have been too soon to apply all of it). I am willing to consider hiring a cook but I am not sure how practical would that be or how it would work in practice since I spend half of the day out of the house into poker office.
2)How to set strong system for cardio and weight loss?
I used to play sports semi professionally(basketball and football) when I was younger and was among the fastest guys in teams I played. I really loved playing those sports scoring goals making assists and all that. At that time it was no problem for me to maintain good weight, feel good about my physical activity and maintain somewhat healthy lifestyle.
Now I don't do sports of any sorts. People I am surrounded with are too lazy to do any sports - unless we consider procrastinating or beer/coffee drinking a sport
I find it super difficult to organize 5 vs 5 football game indoor or outdoor. People are just way inflexible and in general lazy (don't care for it). Same thing goes for basketball!
I have a home fitness bike that I have been cycling on and off but it doesn't motivate me to do just that. In USA I used to hit the gym super frequently, running on the treadmill hitting the boxing bag and stuff like that. I am considering getting a treadmill for my apartment (by the end of this month perhaps) and to use that instead of bike - perhaps that will push me to follow through with daily routine?
Ideally I would like to do daily routine of cycling in the early morning, start my day right with the most difficult activity of all. Now I cycle 20 minutes, previous week I did 15 minutes, next week I want to increase to 25 minutes etc). Problem is some days for no reason I skip, will power is not there and I don't follow through - for me it means that system is not setup properly and need to dig in deeper to fix that thing until it becomes 100% concrete habit!
Failure is not an option for me so need all the help I can get to follow up with this as it is crucial towards achieving my weight loss goal (want to loose 10kgs) and regain my physical shape.
3)Procrastination early morning?
I have figured out that I loose daily minimum 2 hours on nothing specific really. I could be spending that time cycling, playing guitar or something else but I actually just wake up and it takes me forever (lately) to get out from the bed.
Perhaps you can suggest some techniques how to connect all those things so that I can get back into 100% effective day and jump start it right away with small habits and triggers?
This is all for part 1 , I can write more of course but look forward to all your responses man !
P.S. Feel free to recommend your specific videos and parts in your guide, I plan to go through it all anyways.
Also if you ever want to learn guitar, feel free to contact me for some free lessons man
@IvicaIliev77, thanks for the kind words.
Those are some great questions!
1) - Healthy Eating
If you are considering hiring a personal chef, then just hire one that can deliver food to you, regardless of whether you're at home or at the office. I have a couple of friends who use a service like this and they love it.
2) - Exercising
If something worked well for you in the past, it's likely that it will work well for you in the future. I would honestly just try to actively find some new people that you can play basketball/football with (I'm sure there are some groups near you that do recreational practice a couple of times a week). I don't think "pushing yourself" or "motivating yourself" will solve the issue, but doing things differently will. In my motivation guide I write a lot about how important it is to live an exciting life, and I can see from your writing that team sports excite you way more than biking.
Only after you've found a new group of people that you can do exciting sports with, would I worry about making it impossible to fail for yourself. In order to get to that point, check out my set the stage technique.
3) - Morning routine
The answer to this question has two parts.
1. Make it as hard as possible for you to get distracted
You will want to identify your top 3 distractions in the morning and develop solutions for not getting distracted by them. In a way the process here is very similar to the "set the stage" technique mentioned above.
This might mean:
-unplugging your TV the previous day
-carrying your phone in another room before going to bed
-installing a website blocker like Stayfocusd
-etc. - be creative!
2. Make it as easy as possible for you to get productive
Create an exciting momentum routine for yourself that you can insert before your most important tasks. It's hard to get started with being productive, but once you get the ball rolling with exciting semi-productive tasks, you'll be able to use the momentum to tackle other tasks as well.
What I do currently after I wake up is:
1) Drink a little bit of a pre-made smoothie (just enough that I'm not too full or too hungry) - I LOVE these smoothies.
2) Go to the gym which is like 50 meters away from my flat (just for 30-45min, to do a bit of calisthenics + a short cardio), listen to an audiobook during the cardio (again, I love listening to audio-books and doing calisthenics)
3) Prepare breakfast
4) Shower + read a book
This takes me about an hour or so, and it takes care of the important and not urgent tasks. By the time I'm done with the routine, I feel great because I'm woken up and focused, and I already have a feeling that I've done something for myself today, and don't really want to indulge in mindless internet browsing.
I enjoy every part of my routine, that's why it's easy for me to get started. What really helped me a lot was discovering these pre-made smoothies. They're not the healthiest options, but they won't make me fat either (they have like 40kcal per 100ml).
I know that in the past it was hard for me to go to the gym because I was either too hungry from not eating anything, or too full from eating breakfast, so I've found a solution that works for me.
This should give you enough insights to get started on your own. Let me know if you run into any issues, and thanks for stopping by!
P.S. I might take you up on that guitar learning offer some time in the future. Not near future, but who knows... :).
Primoz
Hi Primoz,
Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to respond to all my questions. Really appreciate it man and it was not waste of time that's for sure ![]()
Now to respond to your message, there have been new developments and some other observations!
1) Meals
I found solution and am applying it now for couple of days. There is this Merkator mall (you should know it, its Slovenian brand), they have special restaurant in it. You can eat in or take out. The great thing is that it has all sorts of soups, salads (that you can create!) plus meals they offer vary huge deal (fish, chicken, pork, beans, rice, potatoes, spinach etc).
So basically I go there every day now, buy 2 meals, one for lunch (for around 2pm) and one for dinner that I eat just before heading home from poker office.
I have noticed by eating tuna 1st thing in the morning and doing those 2 meals + another snack in between that my energy levels have increased. I am not starving anymore nor overeating when I eat + I don't get that lack of focus or energy when I sit in front of computer. So definitely this seems to be the right track and way to do the things!
I am also getting tomorrow Slow Juicer as I plan to make all these Smoothies with fruits and vegetables! Plan to drink them in between my large meals and omit all the soda this way!
2) Cardio
What you told me makes absolute sense but still it is really hard to find the people for it. It is true, I can go join a football or basketball club as recreational player and do it but it is not the same as when you do it with friends. Also now I am out of shape, 92kgs and I would just hold those guys behind in the games.
I really need to get in the shape , to be able to say cycle bike every day for an hour for a month steady, before I can consider joining such a thing.
Also I am not sure what would be the way to go here because you said join a club or find people as recreational thing but I am really looking into loosing weight now and that means doing cardio as steady as possible with solid sleep and great food.
If I went 2-3 times a week to play some sport that would not be enough as cycling or running on a treadmill with higher intensity 45-60 minutes. I know this cause I compared it for a while in the past. Basically for me I need a solid system that will work for me every day and that means not missing single cycling, increase until I get to higher minutes which will eventually burn more calories and loose weight.
I was wondering how to achieve that but you already responded with set the stage technique to my 3rd question!
3) Morning routine
This makes great sense to me and thanks to your email I have been doing such a thing through tiny habits!
The problem that occurs is how do you make high level and energy activity happen steady and fast?
I can trick myself with building momentum but cycling 30-45-60 minutes ain't walk in the park or jog for 10 minutes. I hope you get what I am saying. I don't want to have activity just to be activity, I really want to do lots of it and maintain in shape constantly + loose weight now (get back to 80 kgs for example).
I found it very useful what you said about distractions.
If I just don't check poker strategy, my facebook and search for tv shows that came out, I am sure I could easily save there 45 minutes a day - and that right there is cycling alone!
What I do to set the stake is after brushing teeth and eating breakfast, I have running shoes next to my bed and fitness bike also next to the bed. So I just need to sit on it and start.
The biggest problem for me is internet distraction (I don't have TV in my room nor watch TV other then super good football matches).
I guess I have to look into that surf blocking or some software that can stop me from surfing for 1 hour from 10 to 11am every day for example! If you got software for such a thing then I am definitely going to get on the bike and start cycling immediately with some tv show on my laptop in the background.
Guitar lessons offer still stands for you and I look forward to the seminar next Friday. In the meanwhile I might pop up and ask you some more questions and share observations from all the links you shared.
Thanks in advance for your responses once again!
Don't forget, the workshop to overcoming your barriers to success is today, at 7pm GMT / 8pm CET.

You can still sign up for it here!
