Alright, alright! ♦
Right, so I've been to San Francisco at the end of January and I was meant to stay for a month and even planned a trip to Vegas. Unfortunately I had a family emergency, which I prefer not to discuss here because it's a bit too personal, so I had to fly back earlier than expected and as a result I couldn't go to Vegas.
On to poker related things. My January was pretty average results wise, I will do a full review of that with numbers and stuff together with February and this month's review at the end of the month. Just a short cliff hanger for January (and in some parts for February as well although I didn't play that much in February), I had some run-bad on the higher BI's at Full Tilt which brought it down to a super average month. To be fair I also played bad sometimes because I was a bit tilty that the runbad was happening at the higher BI's. The problem with the higher BI's at FT is that they run so infrequently that it is hard to overcome variance there when you run bad in them. So for that reason I have mostly cut out the $115s for now.
More to come with graphs and stuff at the end of the month! And I will also post some more short-term goals towards my $100k goal, with milestones in between to keep myself accountable. So keep an eye on my thread
![]()
So how do I plan to get to $100k profits? Here are some short-term goals of how I want to get there.
The way I have set it up is that I have set myself milestones, or deadlines if you will, what I want to achieve, and then I wrote down all the areas I want to work on.
Milestone 1 (01.05.2014):
- 3% EVROI on $30s stars over 2k games
- Black card on Full Tilt
Milestone 2 (01.07.2014)
- 4% EVROI on $30s stars over 3.5k games
- 1% EVROI on $60s stars over 1k games
Milestone 3 (01.09.2014)
- 2% EVROI on $60s stars over 2.5k games
- SuperNova status on stars
I plan to reach this by working on the following areas (quite general, I still have to work it out):
- HU
- SB play
- work on limp/raise/call ranges at different stack depths
- BB play flat/NAI/AI ranges at different stack depths
- Bubble
- improve call ranges
- Preflop
- Opening ranges/ steal ranges vs different opponent types
- Postflop
- 3b pots/valuebetting
- Mental game
- tiltcard
- identify my tilt triggers and types
You can go as shallow or deep into these topics as you want obviously but what I want to do is create a map of all these areas so I can revert back to that when I feel I'm slipping. Some of this stuff is very basic, I realize that, but it's combination of learning new skills and maintaining/honing old ones.
In the next post I will outlay my daily schedule on how I want to achieve this.
Good stuff bro , seems achievable when you lay it out like that!
I am wondering more about specific things like
1) Will you be table selecting 60s when you start to grind them
2) If so, how do you plan to do the table selecting (your rules)
3) What kind of BR will you use for 60s
4) Will you play 60s exclusively or mix them
5) Have you done calculations how many games you have to play on 60s, with what EV roi , to get 100k post rb?
From top of my head, you have to be profitable pre RB and grind tons. Problem is traffic on 30s already starts to suck, 60s are even worse. Also on 60s there is way more better regs then on 30s. I know this cause I see many bad players that moved from 15s to 30s , also 1 - 2 fish per table and there are also very good regs on 30s no doubt.
Just wondering how you plan to approach it when you get there with grind and everything.
Look forward to your responses and daily schedules!

1. Yes of course I will be table-selecting, Im not a mad man
2. I will do the same kind of table-selecting I do now at the $30s, max 3 regs and preferably 2 decent ones and 1 BE reg max.
3. I'm going to use a BRM of 180-200 up and 160 down.
4. I will most likely mix them to be able to table-select better and for traffic reasons
5. Actually I have not yet, and just to be clear, I won't be playing stars exclusively, I will still keep mixing in FT and perhaps Ongame.
If you table-select well on the 30s, like I do, I think an EVROI of 3% is very doable. Even on the 30s, like you said, there are plenty of bad/exploitable regs.
I can't grind full-out as before as obviously my girlfriend also needs some attention
So I plan to have 20 days of grinding per month of 5-6 hrs and tune it up a notch if that's not enough.
My goal also is not to use any FPP's until I reach SN because I want the best rate possible for cashing those out.
Mixing networks should be easier for table selection. Especially with all the RB deals and promotions, they boost $ quite a bit.
How is traffic now on 30s Ongame? Also whats up on FT 20s and + ?
I would assume just regs play those games. Worth giving it a shot?

Both sites have huge traffic issues, on both sites you have to be lucky to get even 10 games running during the day, the evening is better of course.
Damn it, you should reply on skype now and than :)... goodluck in your challenge fellow country man ♠_cool:

Heheh done
I'm not on every day so that's why. Thanks, good luck to you as well with getting back to your usual stakes.
Since I haven't done any monthly reviews since December, I will do a short recap of my year so far.
After a pretty awesome December things came down quite a bit. The main learning point of this year is, no more $60s and $115s on FT for a while.
So far I have not managed to get in the plus pre-RB which is quite a blow to my self-confidence and mindset to be honest. But the good thing is that if I exclude the $60s and $115s, it's not that bad.
In January I played about 130 hrs which I'm pretty satisfied with considering that I started dating a new girl and I went to San Francisco at the end of the month. In February I played about 40 hrs because I was away for half of the month and I had/have some life stuff to deal with.
In March I played again around 130 hrs with a pretty nasty downswing at the end, but that will turn around. The main thing for me to focus on right now is not to make the same mistake I have made in the past when in a bad downer, which is, just go numb and keep playing mindlessly without critically checking up on my game. Which can obviously be hard because it's hard to be honest to yourself about your mistakes and especially when your mind is clouded by run bad. As you can see, my mindset still needs a lot of work.
Enough chit-chat, some stats and graphs:
Stats (yearly):
2700 games, -0.5% ROI, 0.8% EV ROI
Profits:
-$394.93
$125 FTP bonus
$711 Ongame Bonus
$1874 RB (all sites combined)
Total: $2314.71
Hours: 301
ABI: $31.23
Graph (All games 2014):

Graph (Excluding $60s and $115s on FT)

So on to self-improvement for the coming months!
Yeah, running bad at the higher limits sucks. Overall, graph at your main limits is prett nice ![]()
Good luck for April!
Bro what kind of roll did you have planed for 60s and 115s?
Just curious cause its SNGs, its inevitable to have 20-30-60 buy in swings ![]()
Whats up with stars graph? I didn't see you at all there on 15s this year

I had a sufficient roll for them but like I said they run so infrequent (I think I would be lucky to get in like 100 a month) that it's hard to overcome variance in them. And yes, of course I'm aware that it's inevitable to have 20-30-60 swings, I have been playing SNG's for a while u know
It just hurts a lot more on those BI's so I guess I'm not fully mentally ready for them either.
There is no 15s stars graph because I haven't played any 15s, just 30s.
Yeah was thinking that was the reason.
20 buy in swing on 100s+ is not nice for anybody + volume is always problem mid to high stakes sngs (unless you mix like Ghaleon)
I follow Gavron on ss and see some brutal swings on 60s and stuff.
How long will it take you to adjust to those swings, what do you reckon?
P.S. Is stars included in those graphs also? Just saw Ongame and FTP brakedown for profits...

Yeah I had a talk with Gavron yday, pretty brutal swings indeed. Though he has the "luxury" of being SN so his RB is a lot higher than mine on stars so it hurts a little less to his BR, but like I planned I will get my feet wet in the 60s probably at the beginning/mid of June
Exactly, volume at 60s+ sux, specially when u r obviously tableselecting and it s hard to overcome variance...but if u can handle the swings it s much recommended to play em, it s whole different challenge - improvement.

I guess I was too fast with responding ![]()
Yes stars is also included, I didn't brake down the profits per platform, just the bonus $$ from Ongame and FTP.

Yeah I agree, and that is obviously a step I want to take again in the near future.
Small update, I came really well out of the Easter break, in fact I'm at the top spot on the Neptune low Orbit right now ♦ Let's see if my score holds, I have good faith in it since last week's score was lower than mine right now.
Oh and I have some more exciting real life news coming up soon, stay tuned
I estimate your chance of staying at the top as ~75%, in the top 2 - 96%, top 3 - 99%. (Assuming that 40K SnGs are played at the limit every week, correct me if I'm way off, the fewer the better for you). So let's hope for a $900 bink (the EV is still >$800), gl!
P.S. I learned how exactly BoTP works only just before writing this post
There's definitely room for minor ICM tweaks based on how you're running in the block and what the leaderboard shows (i.e. sometimes you need a win to outperform someone, the 2nd place doesn't count); it's like the jackpot SnG theory, except that blocks are 20-100 games long and payouts are way too small.
