How are topic weeks going on?
First week completed?
Kind regards,
Fran
very mixed week.
real life going ok, and i am happy with it but pokker is just embarissing.
Volume and learning is barly there...
Will post my spreadsheet and more details later.
ohh and site 3 and thumbs up i feel good^^
So first here is my spreadsheet from last week

as you can see there is a lot of red still. Optional means I didnt do it or I didnt do it in the right order which I set up for myself.
It seems like there is a lot still blue and not done but I focused on taking a walk, breakfast and reading and 2 out of 3 I was able to keep up the whole week which is fine.
Even its so much red I am still happy with this week. I went to bjj 3 times, I got out of bed easily and pretty much went out for a walk every day.
On the other hand everything poker related I just failed. I didnt play or learn as much as I wanted to.
Even when I play its not this much fun and anymore and I keep finding excuses easily why I should stop playing or learning now.
I really need to find a way to make it more excited and fun for me again. Its hard to build up a system for something where you have barly any motivation doing it at all on a regular basis.
On the other hand I know motivation comes from only doing something so I hope by just keeping at it as best as I can will get me through this low.
Anyway if you have some tips let me know.
Here is my spreadsheet for this week.

The book I am reading this week is "never eat alone".
So long
The last 2 weeks were horrible.
I ve spend a lot of time playing the new Diablo 3 Add on and had propably one of my worst poker sessions ever.
I got so addicted to this game the first week, I didnt go to train the whole week and spend soooo many hours in one week on it I could propably learned 2 languages in this time.
Lucky for me I promised a friend of mine to help him out a little building his house, which got me out of the room.
When I came back I started the pc and wanted to play again when suddenly I asked myself:
" What the fuck are you doing with your life?"
after not beeing able to answer this question, I quit the game and met up with some friends.
When I come home I was so driven to work for my goals I startet to playing poker. Because no fish joint my table I started to join regs and after several attempts I finally found somone who didnt leave after 10 hands and we endet up playing for several hours.
I had the feeling I had an edge over him but results show otherwise. I ended up loosing about 11 bi this night and felt exrtemly shitty about myself.
After bitching around how stupid, fishy and unproffessional I am, I began to search for mistakes and solutions.
Gaming: I ve asked myself this question before how I should handle this. The last weeks gave me a clear answer. There will not be a middle way for me with endless games like Diablo, Sc or any mmoprg, so I uninstalled all of them, blocked twitch from my browsers and so far I am not really missing it. I think its fine for me to play a story game once in a while and waste some hours on that but other games just lure me in and I loose interest in real life and the things which really matter for me for a while.
Poker: This should be self-explanatory but I abandond my rules so I need to set them for myself again.
-stop loss limit : I start with 4 bi per session and 2 to an individual player and will adjust from this if its working or not
-dont play when tired : for obvious reasons
-breaks : I usually feel good about my game at the beginning of the session and tend to lose at the end. If possible I will make a break every hour if I think I loose a big fish through my break I can extand this to 90 minutes.
60 min = 20 min break
90 min = 45 min break
also this will be tested and I will adjust what I feel works best for me.
I felt I was applying the rules already and I was suprised how easily I abandond them when they really would save me some money.
Even the last 2 weeks werent very good I feel ok because I hope I was able to learn from these mistakes and they will not happen again.

hi aikira,
I logged on today with the aim of spending a few hours back in the beginner course before hitting the tables. Already distracted by your blog and now behind on my original plan for today. lol
But i am glad as this blog has reminded me how important the speed sheet is. And how I need to do one pronto.
I wish you all the best with your progress and look forward to reading more from you.
My regards
I can see at myself on days were I failed a lot are days were I didnt use mine and it easily snowballs in living like a bum but also works in the other direction and after a while you plan world domination.
Espically it shows me how fragile my productiv life is and how easily I fall back in bad habits.
thx so much metalmonkey80 for the kind words. Really happy you like the blog.
I am sure creating and working with a spreedsheat will benefit you a lot.
If you want to get more into details I recomned the series "Schnitzelfisch on Visual Planning" here on ps in the video section.
All the best to you also.

It costs a lot of money if you quit Fish to early.-dont play when tired : for obvious reasons

This month was pretty good.
I kept up with my habits and was training regular.
I even played poker and put a decent amount of time into theory. I am still not satified with the volume but at least its progress.
I read a lot about how to learn more efficent and I am thinking about a challange for myself away from the tables to mix things up.
I want to learn a new skill. I am not sure what to pick: a language would be cool, also learning to programm or more about business.
Let me know if you have any ideas.
Some month ago I was working with growth and maintaince weeks.
I picked a topic like poker, reading or sport and for one week I was spending more energy and time then usual on this topic but still enough time on the others to maintain my skill.
For example:
Week 1:
subject x 4 hours
subject y 4 hours
subject z 8 hours
Week 2:
subject x 8 hours
subject y 4 hours
subject z 4 hours
Week 3:
subject x 4 hours
subject y 8 hours
subject z 4 hours
I cant really remember why, but as good as it sounds in theory it didnt worked that well for me but with something completly new to learn I feel I should try it again.
I start with 4 topics in this rotation. I feel this should keep thing interesting and not be overwhelming.

ps. the hours are an example only also
yo tob! I was right. I only read the first page of this thread the other day. Subbing now and keep me up to date about things. I'll help you out. You have to tell me about the effectiveness of this spreadsheet, or at least the theory behind it! peace
will do velo.
today started a course from edx about stress managment.
First assignment is to find a practise partner, so if anybody is up for this shoot me a pm.
There is no further information how much time the practise partner needs to put into it.
The course is will take for participants about 2-3 hours a week but I cant tell how much time the practise partner should calculate in a week.

Tobi for president!

and finally come visit me in budapest you lazy bum
we got a lot of catch up drinking to do. cheers
thx jiggy I guess
Before my blog totally dies I will review how far I come with my goals so far.
Here are my goals for 2014
-non smoker
still smoking
-starting investing/saving I have read more about money and started to save some also but havent really invested anything yet other then in myself but this is not what I meant when I set this goal.
-meditation
Meditation is going really well and I am still a huge fan and doing it daily.
-bjj blue blet
This will not happen. I am training regular but I was such a wreck I had difficulties to just survive a training session. But its great fun and I am getting fitter, loosing weight and will keep this goal for sure when 2015 comes along.
-no excuses attitude
Very vague goal. I still find excuses often enough but the progress is there and I am getting a lot more done, even if I dont feel like it.
-52 non fictional books
Will not happen also. I am reading regular but for some books I just need longer then a week. Also to implement and test some stuff from the books 52 is propably too much for me yet.
As long as I am reading regular I am pretty happy with it.
-networking
I am doing good here I think. I am in regular contact with some great players and coaches and I learn a lot from them and also I am able to bring some value to them which is great.
-beating nl 400
I dont see this happen.
I started to play more live poker again. Were I beat nl 400 but online...
One reasone is defenitly the volume. And maybe hu shouldnt be my maingame. There is a lot I like about but also a lot I really hate about it. For example the table stealing or sometimes waiting too long to find action.
Overall I am really happy with my progress so far for this year. Even it looks like I am failing in most of my goals. The important thing for me is that I am still moving forward which is a great deal for me.
Ive also started to coach 2 players about habits, routines etc. and its really great fun to bring value to other people and help them to make progress and I could really see a future for myself there.
so long
so...time to revive my blog.
I have turned my back on poker for a while except playing live a couple of times a month.
Now I ve discovered the hu sngs again for me and will comitt myself to those for at least 6 months.
I will start at the smallest stakes and we will see how far I can come.
Focus on this weeks theory will be to get my preflop ranges more in order.
so long
Last week went well. I ve played almost every day for a couple of hours and got more familar with my preflop ranges. Not running great but its all about learning at this point.
I played live once last week and after loosing a really big pot (about 260 bb) I managed to go out even.
Focus on this weeks theory are still my default preflop ranges. I think if I know them better I can start to play more then one opponent simultaneously.
This week Ramit Sehtis so called Hell week started. The first task was to do 1000 push ups or plank for 21 minutes.
As impossible as it sounded to me first, I tried to do the 1000 push ups. It took me while but I completed it and I felt exhausted and amazing.
Overall I am pretty happy with the last and the current week.
Tomorrow I will starting to juice fast again. I did this at the end of last year for 5 days.
I felt more energized and winning the constant small battles with myself to do task x now and not postponding it for 10 minutes way easier.
So long
So...posting more regualr worked out great....
The Juice fasting went well and I propably will do one this month also.
Poker is going okish
Still need to work on my volume but its getting better. Played about 700 games this month.
I am playing the 7s currently and took my first shot at the 15s last week which went horrible. Also I registered for a 200 by accident or bug ( still in contact with the support about what happened and a refund) which I of course lost and set me back quite a lot.
Will be grinding the 7s only this month and hopfully taking a shot at the 15s again in june.
I want to become gold this month which will be a lot of grinding but achievable.
Will post a graph at the end of may.
So long
Great blog! I also use spreadsheets to track my progress and I would definitely use some parts of yours (especially morning routine). What format of husng are you playing (hypers/ turbo/ other)?
I struggle with a lot of issues you mentioned so I know it's hard. Good luck
He,
I play hypers atm. But they dont show me much love atm.
Shoot me a pm if you need some input for morning routine or other problems maybe I can help.
best of luck
So....
New Month time to review the old one and set goals for the new one.
First my underwhelming graph for may. Not really happy with volume and my play. The big fall was my shot at the 15s.
"]Link Text...
I didnt achieve gold star since I switched back to single tabling because getting better should be my absolut priority and this is easier achieved with one tabling.
Currently I have a ROI of 1,86% over 1550 games on the 7s, so there is still a lot of room for improvment.
Preflop espically around 10-15 BB deep is one of my biggest leaks imo so this will be my topic at least for this week.
So long
I ve been playing poker for a while now with medicore results. Mostly NL SH and 9 man SNGs but tried out a lot of different games which is imo one big reason my results are not were I want them to be. With this commitment I cant just say the grass looks greener on the other side and jump over the fence into another game, which is exactly what I need.
My goals for the contract are (besideds the money of course)
-to develop a better work ethic
-focus on one goal and finish it
-really master one game of poker and not be a jack of all trades
-network with high lvl poker players
I will share my results, progress and problems in this blog and propably some rambling about meditation, habits and life.
I will be gone for 1 month so the start will be in the middle of december.
