Ok so my laptop is starting to pack up making it difficult to grid, thus i want a new one. I'm looking for help with minimum requirements i should be looking for.

Atm my set up is a laptop attached to a 23" monitor, my laptop screen is host to pokertracker + the poker client lobby. On the 23" screen i have 6 to 9 tables if i'm playing cash games and 12 if i play S&G's.

I know my laptop is packing up because even basic web browsing there are problems. Sometimes when grinding my laptop freezes for 20 seconds which becomes very tilting.

My new laptop i'm looking for will only be for poker, nothing else.

Software i'd have on my new laptop would be minimal:

Pokertracker 4, Pokerstars, Full-Tilt + pokerstraegy equilab, equilator & ICM trainer.

I'm would like a laptop that'll run smooth for this use for at least 3 years. What requirements are suitable for this?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feed back. There are a few Asus i like, can't decide which. Why do you say not to get an Acer btw?

8GB min? I've been looking at ones with 4GB, surely that is sufficient for a poker only machine?

This one i think is winning atm, what do you think? It seems good value and more than sufficient.

One question though regarding windows 8. Is there anyway to change the main windows layout so it looks like a normal windows 7/vista/XP etc layout? I used a friends computer briefly at uni and hated the changes you see in windows 8, i much prefer the standard desk top with shortcuts and a start menu.

If you are going to use HEM2 go for more ram. Pokertracker worked ok with 4GB on my laptop

Pokertracker 4. Does "go for more" still apply?

hehe. Had edited my original post after seeing you use PT4. PT4 worked ok for me with 4GB of RAM and a fair chunk of hand history. HEM2 caused the laptop to freeze. Upgraded to a new computer with 16GB ram for poker etc so I could give HEM2 a go. Promptly found propokerhuds that works with PT4 and have stayed with that HUD.

If you live in UK 30min ago i was in currys and found one bargain http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-X550CC-15-6-inch-Notebook-Silver/dp/B00E37N4S6 in currys it was priced down to 350pounds for big surprise. Ok 4Gb ram might be not enough but 8GB cost around 50 pounds so this would be immediate upgrade from me. And here we go very nice laptop. (CPU was benchmarked to 3200 score so it is a bargain)

++++ i would downgrade to windows 7 by my own i dont care about warranty :f_biggrin:
