Nice series, definitely following them.

Theres one thing i noticed that i dont get:

In MP vs EP, CO vs EP, BTN vs EP, SB vs EP, BB vs EP, SB vs MP charts suited connectors like JTs, T9s, 98s are included in either flatting or 3bet range, but QJs is completely missing, also in CO vs MP there is J9s and T8s in 3bet range, but QTs is not included at all.
Is this due to some domination problems or is it a "bug" in the ranges as i dont understand why fold QJs/QTs and play lower SC's and onegappers?

Yeah generally these ranges are constructed with equity in mind but don't take equity as the most relevant factor. So something like 9Ts is less dominated and makes a greater number of straights than QJs as well as connecting with more board textures.

These are minor details though and I wouldn't have a big issue if you decided to include QJs instead.

I think it's also a good idea to keep in mind that these ranges are just a guide. If you want to tweak them slightly before putting into use this is completely fine.

Great job creating iso-ranges from every position. And you are completely right - we should adjust our iso-raising ranges depending on the players still to act behind us.

Question for you regarding BB - Seeing as vs 1 limper we will be heads up anyway, do you think this should affect the range of hands we iso-raise?

Hi Weasel!

Regarding your question about iso-raising from BB, here is what I think:

Given that our main postflop strategy (mine at least) versus limpers is going to be cbetting and giving up if we miss, or value betting multiple streets/barreling draws, our position doesn’t matter that much. Also it is highly unlikely that such players will float us IP with intention to bluff us off our hand on later streets. So it seems to me that position versus weak limpers plays somewhat lesser role than for example players behind us. Taking that into consideration, I think given the fact that we are last to act, our iso-raising range from BB should be the widest. When I constructed my iso-ranges I mainly though about position, so my range from BB is narrower than from BTN. But now, thinking about my postflop plan against these players, I think this might be a mistake, and since we will always play heads-up against a weak player, we can iso-raise even more hands from BB.

A couple of things...
When iso-raising from BB how do you size your bets?

How much tighter is your iso-raising range compared to your standard calling range?

How do you adjust when there are 3 or more limpers?
The last thing I want is to be OOP in a family pot.

You say, "always play heads-up", but often when there are two or more limpers, and iso-raise from BB gets little respect.

Cheers,

Would just like to say, I cannot believe the difference these ranges have made to my game. I thought I was alright pre-flop, but following these seem to really have got my game in line. Up 6.5BI today since incorporating them

Obviously that is partly a heater, but I feel like the ranges put me in much better spots post flop, which helps my decisions

- move up to NL10 at 400 € move down to 300 €
- move up to NL25 at 1000 € move down to 800 €
- move up to NL50 at 2500 € move down to 2000 €

Yeah sounds reasonable.

Any reason both 10nl and 25nl have 40bi?

I think 40bi might be unecessary for nl10 but is ok for nl25.

Exact BRM will differ from player to player though - it should vary depending on your winrate and style.

Seriously, I did that without thinking too much.
This is my BRM
- move up to NL5 at 100 € move down to 70 €
- move up to NL10 at 400 € move down to 300 €
- move up to NL20 at 1000 € move down to 800 €
- move up to NL25 at 1500 € move down to 1250 €
- move up to NL50 at 3500 € move down to 2750 €

With this BRM I can play without scared money and I take my time to destroy the level before I move up.
At this moment I'm playing NL 20
What do you think about this?

Usually I iso-raise 3bb+1bb per limper, but since Weasel's video (I think he talked about it in the first episode) I try to find spots where I can exploit limper's calling tendencies and iso-raise larger with premium hands.

I think my iso-range is actually wider than my calling range because when we iso-raise we have initiative and we are playing against a weak player and expecting to play against a wider range, but when we call we have none of those things (well, we can call a weak player, but speaking of unknown players, an unknown limper is going to be a weak player much more often than an unknown raiser)

Those were my thoughts about situations with one limper. When there are 3 or more limpers, I'm going to check with a huge part of that range hoping to hit a strong hand. In this case I would only iso-raise with strong hands that have a clear equity advantage.

As I already mentioned, that was the answer to Weasel's question about isolating 1 limper from BB. Against more limpers my range would be significantly tighter. I think I need to run some HM reports and see how I'm doing in those spots.

My bad -- I didn't read the entire thread, and I had missed a few posts, so I was reading it out of context.

Well thought-out answers. Thanks for taking the time.

Best of luck,

Hey coach, i have a leak in my "FLOP CBET" since i wont start merge bluffing unknowns/people who dont fold when im out of position. Because if i start barreling flop o turn, i cant check the river in position and the draws that missed will fire the river. Over 56000 hands this month I have 49% CBET flop. Is that fine or am i missing something? In position, i will start barreling flop and turn to get better hands to fold and draws to call. But im stuck out of position and just give up many spots.

Also do u merge bluff when u get called by unknown in 3bet pot, for example, CO opens and u 3bet AK, get called and miss the flop. Do u start betting anyway or just give up? since it will be pretty expensive to start merge bluffing in this spot.

Hi w34z3l,

My homework:

Part I - Iso Ranges

MP vs unknow UTG limper-We need a strong hand here because often we will be in multiway pot.-88+, ATs+, ATo+

Spoiler

Iso rz vs unknow limper IP -CO,BU -Here more often we will stand against limper IP heads up.-77+, A7s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo

Spoiler

Iso Rz vs Unknow OOP-SB,BB -Here more often we will stand against limper OOP heads up.-77+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo

Spoiler

Iso rz vs 2+ limpers - we need a strong hand,88+,AT+ (perhaps even 99+)

Spoiler

Iso Rz vs short(<80BB) NO fold on C-bet limper IP -CO,BU -we need a hand to make a top pair/over pair hand and get a max value postflop.88+, ATs+, KJs+, ATo+, KJo+

Spoiler

Iso Rz vs short(<80BB) fold on C-bet limper IP -CO,BU - here we have extented range,but again good SD hands .-66+, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo

Spoiler

Iso Rz vs passive blue whale VPIP 40+ IP -CO,BU -here i think we have iso rz with every ace,any broadway hand... 66+, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A2o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo

Spoiler

Part II

My general approach against an unknown is to make a hand and get a max value two or three streets.Top pair/Over Pair is good enough hand against these guys.

More often I will isolate when I'm in position -- CO and BU.

If i don't have a hand my plan well be to c-bet a flop which not help the many hands - like single broadway flop with A,K or Q,trips board or paired board. I will do one half pot C-bet and that's all.On scare card of the turn will not DUB because these guys not fold.

On many board my plan will be to not C-bet and go to SD with my Ax hands,or pairs.

If I know the villain plays fit or fold, then i will C-bet many flops. But here we talk about unknow guy..

Cheers,
Bobby.

Just a heads up guys, I'm on holiday until the 5th of May, so don't think I'm not interested, will be active again very soon and I'm still very excited about this project.

Shortly after that date I will decide who the winner is for the first free coaching session.

Average recommended stat usually 55%. 50% not necessarily an issue but you should be sometimes x/r as the PFR. I.e it's not good to get into the habit of folding 90% of the time after you check OOP as the PFR.

Question is too vague here.

Do we have any backdoor draws? Opponents stats? Exact flop texture? Effective stacks?

Was expecting it to be out by now actually. I submitted to pokerstrategy.com quite a while back but now I'm starting to think there has been some technical issue with the transfer of the file since it hasn't been released.

I'm looking into this now. Normally it would have been resolved sooner but I'm currently on holiday.

Interesting! I was thinking that my cbet is the lowest in this galaxy, but seems that i was wrong

I would like you to ask about check/raise %. Whats an optimal number? I understand that it relates to other aspects like board texture, opponents etc., but still. Maybe you will share secret and tell us whats your %?

And how should it be separated by streets? For example, 15% flop, 9% turn and river like 4-5%?

Would it be possible to unlock the excel sheet, to enable custom editing of ranges?
