Is this a call on river? there are so few cards which beats us but hes raise tells 2 things - hit or tilt

Stats are solid 150 hands won 0 but all other stats are ok to say he understands where is he.

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

BTN: $6.89 (137.8 bb)
SB: $11.96 (239.2 bb)
BB: $13.97 (279.4 bb)
UTG: $5.09 (101.8 bb)
Hero (MP): $10.52 (210.4 bb)
CO: $5.18 (103.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 5 5
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.15, CO calls $0.15, BTN folds, SB calls $0.13, BB folds

Flop: ($0.50) 2 2 5 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks

Turn: ($0.50) 8 (3 players)
SB bets $0.15, Hero calls $0.15, CO calls $0.15

River: ($0.95) A (3 players)
SB bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1.65, CO folds, SB raises to $5.86, Hero calls $4.21

will say what he had later :f_cool:

I don't think this is such a tough spot if you think in ranges.

If you think about it his value range here consists of 88, 22, A2, K2s, 32s. I've included 32s and K2s as hands that he might call to see a flop with. We can exclude AA from his range and we can assume his not shoving Ax over your river raise, he'll probably just call.

So against this range we have 71.43% equity on the river and you have to call 4.21 to win 7.31 which is 57.59% so against that range you can call.

Now this is the best value case I would say. Even if we put him a much tigher range like 88, 22, A2 we still have 60% equity on the river which makes this an easy call.

I assume he had 2x or A2.

well yes from the other side, even if we cbet flop lots of hands just calling here Ax type hands for possible Backdoor straights, even lots of 2 overcards are calling here to see turn.
