Ch back flop is quite cool since I don't necessarily want to have to call down on non diamonds but think you kinda have to

As played gay line by him lol flip a coin ha

This! All of this! Check back flop makes our hand so easy to play against a reg. Betting 2 streets all day e'rry day against fish.

Okay chenny, but instead of flipping a coin could you give me a more concrete answer whether to call or fold on this river . It was the hardest river spot for me in the tour so I'd like hear a little more about your thoughts regarding river.

Hi,

Betting flop for value is fine.
That allows you to check back turn and then call any river
Players would expect you to c-bet air that board, so with tp I think valuebet is fine.
Ont he river I would fold: his overbet seems a lot like value and I think he tried to go bet/3-bet with his small turn bet.
Only problem is that you block some 86 hands but besides 86d I don´t think he is really floating you these hands.

best regards,

Yes, I was also thinking the same. And there's definitely value on this flop. He's seen me checking top pair once as well in a similar spot, so I wanted to mix it up a little.

My other problem is that his vbet range is pretty narrow. AA, QQ, 99, AQ would 3bet preflop. 55 would fold flop. So it's mainly Q9s,A9,A5,A7, but 2 aces are out. And he can have a bunch of draws that missed. Also here A6o=AK mainly, so if I fold the bottom of my calling range is two pairs. Which is a pretty narrow range compared to my whole BTN steal range which makes it pretty profitable for BB.

so sorry if i dont get it right ur plan was? to bet flop/ ch T /ch R or?

Spoiler

btw i think only value hands that villain has played this way is like 86dd/A5/55 and i think A5/55(not so likely cos he call flop) r going for smaller sizing so u wont hero fold some hands and hero call them w/e so imo only value hand he has is really 86s and AQ/a9
-but first he got to decide not to 3bet pre AQ (also i think he will go for kinda smaler sizing on river to take value) or decide not to ch/r some times on flop and if he just ch/c flop imo he will probably go for kinda bigger sizing on turn to take max value so i discard them descent % of time

the Q is, how ur hand look from his perspective? imo ur line looks like weakish one pair hand/draw

what does his bet on turn looks like, it is
a) blokish bet
b) inducing bet

so as played i just raise turn to like 90-120k (cos ur plan any way is to call bet on river ) and ch/behind ALL rivers, and fold to a shove, or just FU shove turn over his bet

so imo he dint rep nothing with his line so if he played stron hand that tricky flop/pre wp,
if he got pair of balls to stick it in as bluff on turn with virtually min FEQ after we raise to like 90-120k cos we will do that with AQ/A9/99/A5/AA/QQ/99/55/Q9 for value and we can rep all of them so is hard for him to shove with semibluff, then he can have that pot

so imo best line is to raise his turn donk as a value/protection/bluff

and btw i'm ok with Cbetting (i bet bigger like 38-42k on this board with probably 98%range that i open from btn) and then ch/ T/R call some river bets as a default

vs FOH this deep i probaly bet turn too like 37k/62k/x cos i think he kinda hero call me a lot 2 streets :P (i'm not sure would i do this vs him i need to see his avatar in game cos there r regs that I think they see me as spewtard (which is kinda true) and i value town them lightish)

I really cannot. I'd say because your range is uncapped you can fold this river, but then again all the draws miss so maybe you can't.

That's why I agreed with the flipping a coin part ^^.

@Kaitz20: the reason why we don't bet flop is because it makes it very hard for us to play facing a raise or whatever in a slightly ahead/way behind scenario.

@Rebuz: I do not like raising the turn with 2 flushdraws on the board. Even if it's quite rare for opponents to semibluff bet/3betshove the turn, the possibility that he does take this line absolutely kills us.

Thank for all the comments guys. He told me he had A7 there. So if it's true I guess he was blockbetting turn and since I didn't raise it valueshoving river.

Strange line to took with A7 and after you folded I don´t see reason why would he tell you that. Most likely he then had either set or bluff.
But since these situations don´t come almost never I think folding is still perfectly fine. If he had A7 I would expect him to valuebet river 2/3 pot and more often rather c/c than leading turn.

Yes, bet flop, checkbehind turn, and call a river bet. Or thin vbet on the river.
Thanks for the long comment!

We had a little friendly chat before and we are both from Hungary, so I can believe him. There was also a hand before. I opened with AK, flop came something like 977 with fd, flop action was check and I checked behind, turn 2: bet half pot I called, river 4: bet half pot I called. He shoved 55. So he has seen me calling lightish, and he expected me to herocall him with most Ax type of hands, so it makes sense. I just didn't want to write too much history to the hand.

i believe that story too, as i said vs him easy raise on turn fold vs shove cos ether he is inducing (and will bet/ 3bet AI) with better hand then A6 or block beting and folding

Who is exploiating who?
If villain doesnt know that we r raising with intention to fold to a shove-> he is never going to exploiate us and shove light/air , and is all villain dependent

If no one/rarely is exploating u u can play super exploitable style imo and win

Well if it's a good reg in the BB, we can start by 3x-ing this hand as we don't really want to play it postflop. If it's the first time, and we don't care about balance, this is a better option, no? Then on the flop definitely check back. As played minraise the turn to see where we're at and check back river.

PS. so my question is: where do we draw the line? How do you know for sure how he'll react to this turn raise? I'll say this for 100% certain: If I'm here with some decent draw and I can't make sense of my opponent's hand, all the money is going into the middle and I will make a note after he calls or folds what he has.

isnt 3x pre expolatable and u call just to see what villlains range is and make note?

about P.S. thing do lead smalish turn with descent draw or go for c/rai turn and if u lead dont u have a plan what u r going to do if villain raise u or u just decide on the spot if villain raise u?

imo the thing here is that the most regs in our hero spot just call inp with draws/showdown value to evaluate river and make decision on river and almost always raise value = cos villain is reg imo he have that perception of our hero range too and i think he is like never leading/rai flop with hands that he is semi bluffing with so imo most regs when they bet/4bet on that board on turn do that for value imo

Just call we get really good odds on the turn there is just no need to raise only thing we should really be worried about i guess is villian turning made into bluff on some rivers but still like i say we get really good odds ott that this doesn't matter that much imo

i just want to say not to be lost in the post that whole line with r/f to his small lead on turn is based on reads/dinamic with villain and if our plan is to call turn call river (basically we have bluff catcher on river)

in general i agree that readless vs unknowns other lines suggested r less variance/maybe more +EV
