Hi,
We had ~14bb from MP its std jam? what range we ship here?

ICMizer shows (11.0%) 66+,A9s+,AJo+,KTs+,KQo,QTs+,JTs but with 14bb we take all +EV hands? Or fold some small edge?
What edge ( in BB) we should take when we ships (ante in play) from:
EP/MP/LP on :
-~15bb
-~10bb
-~5bb

Hi,

KTs is a very good hand in push/fold play even w/ 14bb...
The issue is that i'd prefere to play a mix game plan w/ some p/f play and some min/raise -fold/call more-over if tha table is weak !

in the BB I wouldn't take any edge without concideration of the dynamique.
And here according to HRC, your rang should be sth like :
15.2%, 44+ A7s+ A5s ATo+ K9s+ KJo+ Q9s+ JTs
and the BB should find a call w/ : 10.9%, 55+ A9s+ ATo+ KQs KQo (what is quiet ok for me).

if you decrease your stack to 10bb and 5bb the range should become :

  • Push 10bb : 19.6%, 33+ A2s+ A8o+ K9s+ KJo+ Q9s+ QJo J9s+ T9s
  • Call from the BB : 18.0%, 22+ A3s+ A8o+ KTs+ KJo+ QTs+
  • Push 5bb : 35.1%, 22+ Ax+ K3s+ K8o+ Q7s+ Q9o+ J8s+ JTo T8s+ 98s 87s
  • call from the BB : 71.6%, 22+ Kx+ Q2s+ Q4o+ J2s+ J7o+ T2s+ T6o+ 92s+ 96o+ 84s+ 86o+ 73s+ 75o+ 62s+ 65o 52s+ 54o 42s+

Nice analysis! Here's some considerations. If we raise and get called: how do we do? If we raise and get shoved on, how many extra hands that beat us are there? How many extra hands that we beat are there? I think you'll find with KTs we have a more profitable raise/call.

As for edge: with 10bb I am taking some -EV pushes from MP. With 15bb I am only taking +EV pushes, and folding K9s type hands.

Thx guys.
About edge's I was talking about what edge we take with different positions /different stack size (no what range should BB calling, but thx belgianbeer :) like chenny write.
Like u take -EV pushes form EP with 5bb? Or fold some small edge's with 15bb like 0,05bb or smth?
Any guidlines to this?

for me the edge is more a question a future-game and what ur stack could give you as implied-odd, bankrupt-risk, etc...

For exemple w/ a 10bb stack you can shove pretty looze in late position + small blind and maybe you'll have a winrate of sth like 8-15bb/100. But each time you will play a hand, you will risk your life in the tournement.
w/ a 20-30bb you'll be in an awkward situation as your stack is a target for le bigger one. You will have a lot of pressure from the chip leader because of the risk you will need to achieve if you want to play them back. Therefor, you will tighten up ur range and this situation will be less interesting.
w/ a 40-50bb you will have more post-flop play so you will be able to manage better ROI with less risk of bakrupt. etc...

the Idea of edge (for me), is to be aware of which stack size will be more profitable and understand that if you flip a spot w/ a break-even equity you will risk to move from an EV++ situation to a less profitable or even EV- one...

in the same way you can be in an EV- situation bec of the dynamique for exemple, and choose to take an EV- call just to leave this situation...

But it is really complicated to give any number as it is really table dependant...

Hi all,

Agreed entirely with belgianbeer about the importance of the situation with determining edge we need. That being said, generally in EP/MP with 4-8bb I'm happy taking slightly -EV pushes (less BB more -EV i can take). 8-15bb starting to take EV+ only, with 12-15bb taking only quite good EV+ decisions unless tournament is really tough. <4bb again is difficult, but there are ways to figure this out better mathematically (future game scenario model as opposed to Nash).
