Perhaps have a cash game open as well.
You could also use the time to take 1 note per hand on another player -- which means that you actually have to watch after you fold.

Best of luck,

Hi Mal.
Took a peek at you blog and had a good laught :f_biggrin:, I really like you way of writing. Are you from the UK?

You make really hard folds, here's something i have to learn...

I'll keep this thread in my list, for the knowlege and for the laughts.

Gl at the river :f_cool:

Hi there Romeu, thanks for taking a peek, I am indeed from the UK, South Wales in fact or (because it rains a lot), Whales as it's colloquially know as in moderator speak.

People seem to find my life funny, the rotten lot, but at least it's entertaining if that'd the case. As for the knowledge part, er.. but that's a very kind sentiment and I thank you.

Now, as for those really hard hero folds, here's two from yesterday, well, one anyway!

Note in the first one how I smugly I typed in the chat, 'full house', folded and showed. Note how even more smug I was when villain (weak reg 24/8/3 stuff ) typed 'FUCK YOU FISH' in the chat and rage quit (he stayed on the other tables). You may now bow down and worship Origami, the fold-god. Thank you -(pssst, it wasn't tough really).

...and then notice in the next one how I actually said out loud to myself on the turn, 'fuck, that sucks..' and tank-pushed into an 18/0/0 passive regfish anyway. So much for Mr. Smug then! :f_mad:

The second is much tougher by the way and failing is more due to mindset on the day than anything else. I'm still prone to this on occasion, it's like a doom switch and not folding will kill your winrate stone dead.

The fold button at the micros is a good players best weapon, get two installed and use them both, a lot.

I now have decided to use the word origami as a trigger word for danger and if I can't see a solid reason to continue I use it again to fold.
It's an experiment and just gives me a couple of seconds to be decisive. Seems to be working so far.

Now, for today I will be studying how to get some luckboxing rungood and how to suckout a 5% on the river, a much easier way to play as long as you don't look.

I will also be having my MTT coaching with 'His Awesomeness: Asaban the Great', so that will definitely be something worth doing. I just have to get a few hands sorted out for review but I haven't got many.
Oh well, we can always talk about football I suppose, but then he's German so he'd know more about that than me as well...sigh.

Ok, enough drivel I'm off to kick the dog out into the garden, cycle to town shopping and finish the painting before I get to all that.

If you got this far reading all that crap, thank you and have a great day!

Love and kisses and I'm out.

Hi Mal.

From Walles? NO WAY... I have family there, not direct but i consider them family.

Been to Neath twice allready and they come often. Small has the world can be it wouldn't surprise me if you knew I knew that accent from somewhere

Wow folding AA there. This is sick. I would have shoved them 2 times on the turn and 1 on the river, then sell my car and shove some more after showdown lol

Now seriously, I've seen that prefered line for the good players is B/B/B. Myself , self proclaimed :f_p: , would B/C behind/Call/bet the river. My arguments for turn play are: Pot control mostly, give a bit deception to my hand and have a showdown.

I think you are winning vs a wide range and I see nl10 players slowplay TT+ too often, specially regs. Off course he can have 55/33/22 so if you check the turn he will try to get paid so, most of times they bet small on the river when you dont show too much strenght.

But like I said, I'm a fish so... bring on the critics.
Have a nice day Mal, GL and remember

So anyway, there I was going through my super duper winningest - well, second-winningest place anyway - mtt hand history with Asaban and guess what? No? Ok, I'll tell you then, whether you give a shit or not, meh.
He told me I was playing very well and better than others at much higher limits! Now, wasn't that generous of him?
He didn't actually say I was playing well for a fish, just playing well. :f_love: Not sure if he was just encouraging me though, he's very nice that way.

I'd just like to know why I haven't won one yet, even I can see the villains are awesomely bad.

Pokerwise, I got back some of the br that went AWOL at nl10 this week. I think last night was good, probably around +7 or 8BI. The games were still good but I had to quite at about 2:15 a.m., I was getting very tired and just button clicking by then.

Oh ye, instead of going out of br management and hoping to bink a score before busto, I found where you can go to play satellites for them. So a $2 one has satties at 22c and so on; genius!

In other news, they've started getting ready to get rid of some jobs at mrsgadget's work, which is a concern given our debts of course at our age, but more concerning for her well-being; she doesn't do stress well.

I'll just go sattie into the SM, bink like a baws (or a pads) and all will be well in gadetworld again. Sounds like a plan.

Now, if I can just find a sattie to the sattie...

Have the best weekend ever everybody.

Couldn't play much at the weekend, playing nursey again so watched some of the WC. Enjoyed that, it's a bit of a shame they have it so soon after the leagues finish, by the time the final comes round most of the big guns are bolloxed. I did think it was a much better game than the usual yawnfest though and that Messi is for definite in Maradona's class.

Pokerish, I studied a bit more about MTTs and tried to put that into action in a few mini ones but no joy. Not a problem but a change of strategy required methinks.
Play cash and if win, play an MTT or two with a % if profit from session. Mindset is fine in the games, it just eats at the br if I lose cash and MTT in the same session; and even I know it can be a long time waiting for a score in tourneys.
Seems sensible anyway, but then most of my ideas do until they go tits up. ?(

Here's a picture thingywotsit of this week doodahs:
Not great but considering where it was...

In other news, Plan A is mrsgadget going for a meal and then out on the piss on Sunday with her mates - with the corollary being I can play a few Micro Millions if I can sat into them. That would be fun.
Plan B is mrsgadget not feeling well enough to go and me keeping her company on the sofa, watching Big Bro...I can't, I just can't say it; I can't. :f_o:

I am now off to take the poo machine to the beach. We went a few days ago and she loves it, thought she was two again and couldn't get her to come out of the sea. she crawled the mile home of course, as did we all.

A nice quiet song and a girl with a smile to get even a jaded old git like me to smile back - well, right after I burst the kid's ball that came into my garden that is:

Enough drivel from me, have a great day.

Fuck it I have to do this post shit again now, the first one disappeared into the twilight zone ffs.

Anyway, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, I have noticed a huge leak lately, I get small wimpy bollocks in 3 way pots, especially in bb. 'Oooo, I should bet here, nobody seems to have anyth...', check - checks all round.
Blank turn, 'Ooooo, I think the reg has a small pp (they very often do in these spots), if I pop out 1/2 pot I can get both to fold...check,'- checks all round.
River is whatever, 'Well no point betting now, they'll just think I'm at it and call with 3rd pair...', check - checks all round and the fish hits 4th pair on the river and the reg had 44. Duh! :f_mad:

I wonder how much money that shit has cost me, given I often can read the situation there pretty clearly; and yes sometimes they are passive and have 2nd pair so won't bet it, but less than people think. And not only that, I can usually tell who those people are anyway.

In other news, Micromillions is upon us I see. I would like to play all of the relevant ones but the old br is a bit weak for that, so I'll play one or two only and use the qualifiers to boost the br a bit. They really are so soft even I can score there.

But wouldn't it be fun to have a huge list like UPAY4DINNER does and settle in for the day all excited and stuff?

Just a point, I haven't played many MTTs but Asaban's course and his grilling of me does seem to have sunk in a bit and I feel quite comfortable with the strategy now, if not entirely competent of course. Looking to expand to take further advantage of early stage next.

For example, I don't 3bet bluff, in fact very few bluffs at all (yes I know, micros, don't need that shit), because I can't reload if it fucks up of course! :f_eek:
What I forgot, being blinkered, is it's the same for the villains to!

tl;dr

So this week, I shall be mostly concentrating on growing a pair. :f_love:

Have a good week and if you're in those MMs, have fun,

Because "no-one bluffs in the micros" they won't think you are.
Just don't do it too much. I'm guessing that as a certified nit, you have stats like 20/15 at 6-max NL5 -- or close. So if you 3Bet/fold even 1 hand you would normally fold -- say 87s in BTN vs CO -- that would hardly inflate your stats much, and it would carrry some weight.

If you get called, it is an easy hand to play post-flop, since you either hit or you don't.
You can even CBet on an A- or K- high v dry flop, if checked to.

Go wild!
(but not too wild)

Best of luck,

Had a good day in the qualifiers for MM yesterday. Got 4 tickets and $37 in T$
..and then I played cash and dropped most of it 9 tabling nl5; just a bit of a cruel night is all. :f_cry:

So, what to do today? Can't play many MM qualies I have 3 fpps left and buying into qualies for cash gets too expensive for the br.

Oooooo, I founded some 235fpp hyper SnG qualy thingies into the Storm btw! You get 500 chips and the blinds rise quicker than bread dough in the sunshine, but everybody is just so bad you can't fail.

No, wait, that's not true, everybody is solid, don't go there! Pleeeeez?

Anyway, they're out for now but I have a ticket already so it's all good.

In the end I went to play 4 tabs of Omahahaha $5 6max this morning and picked up a couple of BI so that made me feel better, but still down 3BI or so. Not that I'm results orientated of course! Ye, ok Mal...

Good luck to all in the Micromillions, I'll see you at the ft somewhere along the line I hope!

My first one is the 11c today, I satted in for 1fpp I think. _evil:
It'll be a good test for the MTT lessons. Todays lesson is all about -> folding.

Run good, be well.

I also satted in to the 11cent shovefest.
I did rebuy the first time I passed through the blinds, then doubled up.
Also did the 20K add-on. That is cool -- it totally resets the game.

The problem is, there as a 65/50 open-shover on my right who was donating stacks to everyone at the table -- I got a couple.

Trouble is, immediately after the add-on break, I have 88 and he open-shoves AJ and hits.
Next hand w/ 10 bigs I shove A5o and meet AA

Good fun, and cheap.

Best of luck to you, sir!

W...T...F... was THAT all about! Satted into $2 rebuy, fine. People with like 230K after the break and it reverts to 10/20 blinds! WOT!

Mrsgadget! Mrsgadget! This could take a while!

Commenced 13:30 and exit around 18:10 in 2K place of 7.5K-ish; payout at 1350 ofc. Shoved Ad8d from MP and the most passive guy ever (well, 44/6) on the table snapped it. Sigh, no need to look Mal, just get yur coat...

No rebuys, just an add on, for which I used a qualifier's T$ anyway.

I got dealt 6 playable hands from 2:30 til 18:10 and was all in 4 times - bored much Mal? It was just one of those games where you do what you can with very little weapon grade material. How any hands did I fold in a row - well, one hour and forty eight minutes between the 1st break and my next playable hand might be a hint? :f_eek:

And I was a good boy, no cash, no porn; no surfing and no music, just burnt toast from SWMBO and water.

That one wont be happening again in a hurry that's for fucking sure!

I'm in the Storm for 235FPP so look out for me, I've changed my name to Origami, give me a wave I'll have plenty of time to wave back.

In other news, the br seems to be rather static but it just seems ot be a regfest wherever I go at the moment, so a bit yawnish y'know?

Anyway and now for something completely different! The first time I saw this I was thunderstruck.

How to play the cello Ba-Rock - style!

Y'all run good now y'hear?

Back to normality last few days, getting my ass handed to me on cash tables and haven't made a bean from MTTs. I played 12 MTTs, shoved my money in good every time, improved - and still got kicked out; 12 straights in a row they hit and 4 of them were my fault for hitting top set. Sorry about that Mal. Oh, that's ok...
Last hope for the week was the Storm, which I satted into via a 64 seat hyper turbo shootout thingy entered by misclick - won that by emptying all three tables, easy game init, then min cashed the Storm for $31 in about 3K/44 ish. _evil: Swings and roundabouts, swings and roundabouts.

While I was in that I watched Tiltberger stuffing up the fishies in the coaching. It was form 7pm to 9pm UK time and he was still doing it t 10:30 when I had to leave. All that and there was smoke and explosions and sirens going off all around him.
So, that'll be 4000 kudos points to the bossman for staying so late and another 34000 for playing through Armageddon. What a superb coach - and he finalled two of them at least!

In other news, mrsgadget went out with some of her workmates for a birthday meal down the village pub about 1/2 mile away; nice place and nice enough food. We couldn't afford her to go but meh, what ya gonna do she hasn't been out for ages, although that could have something to do with the ASBO, not sure.
Yes she came back boozeled up and I went to collect what was left of her, hence the cut short coaching. she's recovering, slowly, this morning.

Right, damn I'm waffling. I may get to rail the mighty Vorpal in his 5CD MTT in the MM if time permits it, that would be interesting.

Ok I'm off to play one or two MMs myself now and then I get to cut the grass if I'm a good boy.

Oh ye, wtf are those b;oody Ante Up games all about ffs! Stupid game, you get short stacked really quick and you don't even know why! You only enter by mistake; stupid game, stupid game! :f_biggrin:

Play well, be good and be well.

So I was losing a couple of BI at cash and entered a $3 PLO8 MM.
It sounds bit expensive for my br, but being the hi/lo variant I knew how bad people would be and you get a decent structure. After sitting - how do you get cold decked for an hour at this game anyway ffs, damn I runz gud - I got my money in top set only for the inevitable. Oh well, two and a half hours or so and nearly made the money to.

Had a little game of cash gain this evening, totally owned the tables only to be down a few bb, shame, I was really on it today to.

Well I've been getting my ass handed to me again.
So I thought hey, I used to own FR nl5, I'll try that again, get my confidence back; yeh!

Set up 8 tabs, changed it to 12 stacked. Not enough, got boring after a while, so added 4 more. Not that the numbers helped, I got AA 21 times in 3.7K hands and the only time I got any action at all I lost to - yep - KK AI pre bvb. If I hit a...then they hit the...blah blah blah down 5BI. I did think I was too agro at the start and that was probably due to coming off 6 max, but once settled it was easy game.

A couple of examples:

This guy was loosey gooosey fish, on a 6max I shove, on FR I should fold to that raise, it's far too big, I just got taken in by the flush board.

So in happier news, mrsgadget got sent a few pounds by her brother, as he sometimes does and she gave it to me to spend.
So I spent it on staking upay4dinner and let's hope he save my arse please.

Ok, quick update time before the Friday might gring.

I got done for 8BI yesterday but got 4 back today, it would have been more if I had grown a pair!

I've added some tables so I'll be 20 tabling FR again tonight. It's not hard when you get used to it but things get a bit tricky sometimes on the deep stack ones (250bb)!

Here's one from the hand evaluation forums for you, fish is all in, the other is a competent reg and just has to have a set here, you're down 9.5BI already...your move...

nl5 deep low set.

So lots of practice required for these tables and obviously for 100bb it's a no brainer, which I might add, is fortunate...

Anyway, it's 28 degrees here and well passed my melting point so I'm off for a shower and a game; then it's beer - o - clock.

Have a great time all and be well.

You had two hands in one thread in the HE board, so I divided them.
I even replied.

20 tables FR? I didn't know there WERE 20 tables of FR!

Thank you sir, didn't know I'd done that. :) Couldn't find your reply though. Bugger, foiled again. No probs.

24 tonight but not a lot going on for a Friday night surprisingly. Bah.
