Flop: (£0.60, 3 players) 5♥ 6♦ 2♠
SB bets £0.42, fold, fold

Spoiler

SB wins £0.98

VIllian is Donk betting quite large into a multiway pot so I'm guessing my fold is correct?

Also is my 3bet sizing PF the correct size seeing as I'm on button?

3betting 3x to 9bb is the "standard". You can modify your size depending on which opponent are you facing. Have you some more stats on MP? It would be interesting understanding how much is opening by position and whether is he folding to 3bets or not. If he's a bad player, who doesn't look at the sizes and tends to call a lot OOP, then you can 3bet even 4x to 12bb. If he's pretty tight from EP and tends to play 4bet/fold against a 3bet, so he rarely calls down OOP, then flatting is probably a better option than 3betting. You just need to think to your opponent :)

Think about his range for coldcalling a 3bet OOP. Players usually tend to do so with hands like 99-QQ, AJ+ if they feel that's too "risky" to 4bet them. I don't think he's flatting something like 22-66, so I would put him on a overpair. Btw stacks are really inaccurate, so even PPs are plausible.

Folding is of course the safest option. I'm not trying to draw an overcard or to fold a random out of the pot :)

I did have other reads on MP, he folded to 3bet 100% (3/3) before this hand.

True to form he did just that again.

Thanks, I did stop & wonder has he flopped a set. This normally gets me into a lot of trouble as I'm no good at spotting sets. Working on that though.

I don't understand why he donks flop though, surely it would have been better for him to wait for me to make my conti bet and go over the top of me?

Then it could be a good idea even that of avoiding the preflop 3bet, but that's true especially if he's a tight EP opener. But we only have few info on this. Generally, at NL2, you should be 3betting AK about 99% of the times 4value :)

Most regs at NL2 play in a really straight-forward way. If he's leading, it is possible that he has the set, he wants to get a lot of value from the fish and is scared of a check back. Given the spot, probably you're not always cbetting the flop w/ overcards since you maybe don't have that huge FE. Given the preflop action, imho c/r a set is the best here.

My opinion is that he could have an overpair. He didn't want to 4bet postlop, neither he wanted to fold a "good hand". Maybe he thought that c/c the overpair was a bit like "guessing", while by leading he gets some value by the fish.

I'm just guessing, it's very hard to get good reads on players w/o info. Just consider these options as his possible reasons for betting.

The point is that he almost certainly has a made hand, I don't think he's bluffing :)

Hey andiofwbafc,

Preflop is ok. Perfectly fine to flat AKo vs MP open, but it's true this particular opponent looks fishy + we have position so 3betting is no doubt fine.

Leads into preflop 3betters are typically strong at these limits. Also as you mention the pot is multi-way so MP's range is sufficiently strong that folding is likely best.
