id personally bet the river a little smaller (38-40bb) to be more balanced, bc I might want to bet the Ah blocker for example that way too, wouldnt like to pot as a bluff like that, and your bets kinda shout out KK** or QQ**.

maybe im wrong though nh

Question for you Mr Trocks: if you think his hand looks like a fd, why bet so big?

Let's put it another way:
if you have an ace-high flush in this spot on the river, and the board is paired, and the vilain in front of you almost bet pot, do you call??

I know I will almost never call, unless I have a big read he's able to do this without a full house...

Anyway, I like the idea of betting smaller to be more balanced.

Hi Skod,
sorry but I don't understand your statement.

Since villain is not calling a flush in this spot (which I totally agree), what are the pros and cons of betting big like you suggested?!

And in a general matter, what are the good reasons to pot for you? :)

If he doesn't call flushs he will only call boats, and against boats you can bet big as boats do not respond to betsizing in an elastic manner.

However, I don't think Villain has that many boats in his range (QQ and TT are most likely but often raise the flop, esp. QQ, and we block a T). Furthermore I'm not 100% convinced he folds the nutflush every single time OTR.

I like what you said :) Makes sense!
Totally agree that somewhere QQxx would raise too.

However, I've also seen some players slowplaying this kind of hand, since it's so strong most of the times (except when a K or A comes on later streets).

Hi,

KBE makes valid points, but i don't think QQ raises always, at least it shouldn't. Also if you think flushes call you here, then you should bet it like 1/2 pot or something, 3/4 would be the worst imo because flushes fold and boats would call a bigger bet.

Skod

You're probably right, 35 might be too much. Then I'd go for less, possibly half pot as suggested. I'd expect QQ to raise just because QQ can get it in against TT or even QT sometimes, TT I wouldn't expect that often but we block it.

The thing is that if opponent calls turn with a flush draw, it is hard for him to fold if once it hits. This applies to pretty much all poker players, if you pay to draw something it's hard to fold if you hit it.

But once you pot it, it is obvious that you are never bluffing. So if he has non-nut flush it should be an easier fold for him. Bet as much as you would bet if you were bluffing (villain doesn't know if you have a bluff range here or not, just imagine you were bluffing). Propably the most of his calling range is a bluff catcher, so to get anything he must think you are bluffing. Half a pot is too little imo, it doesn't look like a bluff unless you have some spesific history with the player (and I assume you don't). Something like 30-33bb is my choice here. :)

I always thought a potsized bluff has the most FE so it's often used ?(
