I am still new to this and have a buddy that swears by this software. The thing is that when I challenged him to play without it he got whacked. He is a winning player but without the software is average at best. I wish some sites would set up games where no software was allowed and then see who the real players are. Any comments?

interpreting HUD data is a skill unto itself, a crucial one if you want to compete in todays NLHE games.

I read that hive and chico, or something similar, poker networks don't allow hem or pt, but also that there are some hem imitations that people are buying and do work there. There are anonymous tables on microgaming where hud, I think, does not work.
i dont use software and im allways loosing me bollox so you might be onto something there
Yes it's possible to win without a HUD.
Just as it is possible to still lose WITH a HUD.
I personally hate the idea of HUDs and wish they would be banned from all sites, but I still use one in the meantime.
HUD is a gift from God to human.(hahaha)
Ok you can win and without HUD but with HUD make it easier.
