Here in the UK there's a very famous quiz that has been running for several years called 'You Are The Ref'. The premise is simple: The writer describes an unusual occurrence that might happen in a football game (like the crossbar falling onto a goalkeeper during a penalty shootout and knocking him unconscious) and you have to take the role of the referee to make the correct decision.
I thought it might be interesting to do a similar thing with poker. There won't necessarily be a right or wrong answer as things tend to be less well defined but it would be interesting to hear people's thoughts on what they think should happen if they were the tournament director and something strange happened. Here's the first one:
Two players are all in pre-flop with 10,000 chips each. One has AA and the other has KK. The flop is 4AK. The turn card is another A, giving one player quads. Three players who aren't in the hand and the player with quads tell the dealer that he might as well not bother dealing the river card as there's no point. The dealer agrees and starts collecting in the cards. The player with kings then protests and says that the pot should be split because the hand wasn't played to the finish.
As the tournament director, you're called to make a decision. What do you do?
