We never stop learning, we all loose some time, but get up, make a better plan to hit SN and you will achieve your goal. If you work hard, "There's nothing that you can't do"(Some old rapper guy).
I think if you put the numbers on paper and know how many hands you need to play/day to hit the goal. And you do it. You will find a way to make time for the other life activities. You pay attention at your game and push every day a little harder.
Maybe I'm not the one to give advise. I myself need a lot of work at my game. But every day I'm trying to learn more things about myself and my game.
GL!!!
Kind words And3street thank you.
Unfortunately I lost around $130 at nl10 in three consecutively horrendous sessions and my br can't take that, so I dropped to nl5 where I can chill out a bit more and rebuild. Putting off the sn challenge gives me less stress about volume targets and more emphasis on improvement. I'm currently trying to do a db analysis somewhat like the mighty Bogdan.
Failing dismally of course, he is the nuts.
I met a monster today at nl5; super player, just totally destroyed us all. I was one seat to the left and gave up after an hour or so. I was more interested in watching and learning than playing. They left 4 tabs with over 2K hands and $40+ on each. Er, nh! ![]()
This is a graph from playing multiway pots versus stations, getting very little to play and folding - a lot.

Disasters aside, these are the games I need to improve in; not sure how yet, but there are too many graphs that start out fine then take a long slow slide.
When I get those sorted out I'll jump up huge.

I'm learning how to play these. w34z3l talks about "population reads" -- the "population" differs from room to room.
On iPoker I had a > 40% steal rate with nearly 50% success rate.
Now on PKR I'm lucky if there is only 1 limper in EP-CO.
So I'm reduced to playing 19/13 with most of the calls being PP for set value and SCs in the SB in multi-way posts hoping for flushes or straights.
It STUNS me to see what people call with.
I have $Won and BB/100 on villains' HUDs. NO player (so far) with a VPIP over 40 over > 100 hands has a +ve win rate.
Tells ya something dunnit?
A typical hand goes for villain:
pre: limp/call
flop & turn: call or minbet / call
river: bet 3/4 pot to shove.
Sometimes they have it, mostly they don't.
The trick -- as always -- is to call when they don't, fold otherwise.
<sigh>

Nice video on first page, just had a look at this is first part of your blog I saw
I think against victor blom maybe it was good and even a great player would still call him, what do you think?
Hi iSoOwnYou, thanks for dropping by. Can't blame you for reading the first page then jumping straight to the last, you didn't miss anything.
tl;dr
I got owned and dropped back into the trenches.
@v, yes there is some merit in that, the difficulty is being aware enough to adapt quickly and sometimes I just sit in and click the damned buttons; click...click...click...wtf?...click..click...cli...wtf, he had it again? Seriously? Nit/fold...nit/fold...nit/fold...by which time I can be down 2 or 3 BI without actually having done a lot except play the wrong strategy.
Note to self; Set auto-pilot to OFF you pilchard!
I still haven't made up my mind what to do next year about my poker lolament - sorry, career, I meant career (euphemism) - I seem to be playing ok more often than not, but then what do I know he asks rhetorically. I think I'll need to have some sort of challenge to keep me focused. Ye Mal? Oh is that right? Well, I got one for ya, try fkn winning for a challenge, that'll keep you going for life ya fish!
Currently grinding out a few K hands at 6 tabs of nl2/nl5 FR zoom since the br is too small for anything else just yet and I'm working on my game. I do shove the odd plo5 6 max, or FR plo8 in for a chill pill and they're always fun if I play nitty enough.
So, off to do the sums for maybe a plan for next year then it's walk the poo machine round the park to chase the ducks. I swear my dog is getting bloody younger not older, she's 8 now bless her and a big teddy bear in the house.
In other news, mrsgadget is getting more and more excited by the day since I put all the presents she hasn't opened yet under the tree. She really loves this time of year, I think everybody in Wales got a card pushed through the door!:heart:
Had a very nice present today! For those of you not paying bloody attention in class - put that phone away boy(!) - the clue is in my avatar, ok?! ♠_thumbsup:
Oooo the sun is out, let's go dog, we've wasted enough time!
Have fun, Malingerer out.
Since it's all quiet around here I'll sneak this in while nobody's paying attention.
Given I need to put more time into looking after mrsgadget and that I'm losing my job in January and she hers in April I think, I'm going to bin this blog. Let's face it, even I don't read it, it's just my drivel and random stuff mostly anyway, not a great loss to the world of poker that's for sure.
I may or may not do another one, or a challenge, or whatever, but not this, so this is my last post here.
So, I'll take this opportunity to wish everybody a pleasant and peaceful time in the company of loving family and close friends.
Keep warm, be safe - and have fun. ![]()
Me? It's beer - o - clock!

See you on the forums!
Mal.
I think you'll be surprised how many will miss this, Mal.
I hope you find another place to put your funny stories!
Like you, my job is down the tubes at the end of January, so I know how you must be feeling about now.
In the meantime, at least have a Merry Christmas...
Best of luck,
VS
