The fact that somebody is doing the same way as you do, says almost nothing about the correctness of this behavior.

The point is to understand, develop and adopt the most +EV way of starting your session. And the best way is of course(as with anything else) to try and find out by yourself. Here we just sharing ideas...

I agree with your direction but I think you've missed my point. That is that I'm entirely comfortable with a very simple preparation before I get started and it's reassuring that somebody else is comfortable with that approach. As long as I'm properly awake I've never had any problems with getting into the right frame of mind when I start a session. Sometimes I'll read, sometimes I'll study a little, sometimes I'll mess around on Twitter and sometimes I'll just get straight on with it. It depends on how I am.

The fact that somebody else does the same thing as I do, apparently successfully, doesn't automatically make my own approach correct I agree. It does provide some evidence that sitting down and playing can also be a good way to start a session though.

I usually take a shower and make breakfast then watch some instructional videos or sessions replays while eating and drinking coffee, pokerstrategy, pokerschoolonline whatever. I have a long list of bookmarks of people I like watching so I usually just find something I like.

If I had a bad session the previous day I'll look at the big pots and try to evaluate where I went wrong and what influenced my decision, so the mistakes stay with me when I start grinding and everytime I do something stupid at the tables and lose a pot I go see that's excactly like when you lost that big pot yesteraday due to a missplay...and it help me keep focused.

Then I play for an hour or maybe two (depends on how tired I get). I take a break, eat some snacks or whatever, exercise abit or do some housework, basically whatever I can find that takes from 10-30mins to rest my eyes.

I'll then play however much I can find time and brain power for.

Then it's a long break till the evening, where I start with studying a select aspect of my game I want to improve, usually a part of a course or a series of videos I'm watching.

Oh and I also keep a bottle of water or a thermos of tea on my desk, go the the toilet before starting, and I generally eat before sessions. If it's a late night session I'll also eat excessive amounts of sugar (especially ice cream).

cheers
