Wheee, So yesterday lunchtime I already had played 24 hours for the week and had studied 4 hours or something (a record for me I think) Unfortunately I made not one but two tilt-plays and only played one short session in the afternoon. Now its almost lunchtime on Saturday and I haven't played at all yet today, very discouraging and I'm worried I might be getting some sort of stress headache/migraine wtf.

Seeing as my recent theory of poker has been - 'Put in the hours with as good a mindset and the results will follow' I think it is ok to question my decision to do anything that puts me under sufficient stress to stop me from doing this.

A follow up statement could be - "'Shotting' limits is not a good idea if it causes you to play only half (or less) of your required hours"

I think that I would like to remove from my mind any concept of shot-taking whatsoever and just realise that I am totally happy to play any game where I have a positive expectation. That would be very preferable to me to whatever it is I'm currently doing, putting way too much emphasis on which games/limits I am playing.

wow, only 2 left? i spent a LOT of time reading those books, and furthest i got was midway through book 3, where i got totally lost. and then when i want to read it again a year or two later i have to restart the series because i've forgotten too much. it's such a rich, complex world that Steven Erikson created.

Hello, quick update on the last week

So I have just finished 2 kind of unplanned days off! The first was a day out climbing and the second was pretty much the Christmas do for the girlfriends work. I paid a small fee to go on that. Kind of cool picnic area with an outside swimming pool and stuff, was a nice day but kind of didn't end up feeling like I should play when we got back from it. As for last week I unfortunately made less hours than the week before with 29 played and 4 or so spent 'studying'. Not entirely satisfied with that progress but I think I should be happy considering the fact I overcome a mental game hurdle at the end of the week that reduced the number of hours I got in.

So to start off tomorrow I shall be starting my new week again with the target of seeing how many hours I can put into the game. It also happens to be the Unibet double strategy points week which should coincide nicely if I have a really good week in terms of hours I will still be putting in 'study' time though of course!

It appears I have had another one of those brainfart days. Was sleepy in the morning had 2 coffees so far today, one session got interrupted after 3 minutes, had two more teas, read an enormous amount of the Unibet thread on 2p2 and done pretty much nothing else. The question 'What is wrong with me' seems to surface.

I better just make the best of a bad situation and start playing now (one hour is better than no hours after all) and try and focus on starting sessions early tomorrow.

oh yes, I played a little bit of zoom last night. Was going to record a session today but not sure i'll get round to it after all the time I've wasted

I've been making a ton of strategy points recently, thinking I may go for blackmember next year, and my grinding on my main sites has been fairly consistent recently. That's somewhat relieving in light of a couple of heads-up battles gone-wrong vs fairly strong regulars, all of which I played without importing hands during sessions due to problems with HEM, and thus without a HUD. The most recent one was the most significant. It was biggest match I've ever played against a presumably winning mid-stakes reg. A session of about five hours or more started with some 3-handed tables of €2/4 on Winamax. While they were going well I started a €3/6 SH table that filled mainly with regs. That went well too. I got the better of one of the regs on the 600 table several times, and that reg appeared on one or two of my other tables and started playing me heads-up on one. Smooth sailing so-far, up about 5 stacks over-all for the session, and I felt that I had big advantages vs his play in a couple of areas, both in some spots with show-down and without, translating to a sizeable over-all edge. I saw in the lobby that he was sitting at empty tables up to €10/20, and decided I should take the opportunity to play him higher. We ended up playing 3 tables of €5/10. At first it continued to go well. Then there was a phase where it seemed that he was on fairly sever tilt, really spewing. I'm up over 4k for the session, but now things start sliding: he de-tilts while I start to get tired. I'm not satisfied with my results yet despite being up, feeling I should win at least another couple of thousand. A couple of indicators for bad mental-game crop up, but I keep playing, telling myself I still have an edge. I make some mistakes in big pots, fatigue increases, and I lose the €4k I was up plus the €4k that were in my account to start with. But the most disconcerting part was yet to come: I got a friend to import the hands afterwards and, very discouragingly, saw that my non-showdown line was actually significantly negative, contrary to what I had assumed during the match, and that I had run above all-in EV. This is the most unpleasant part of HU for me: when I have to face the possibility that I had significant leaks that I simply wasn't aware of. This whole thing provokes a strong urge to play even more HU vs regs, working on my game a ton and proving myself as a HU player, showing that I can in fact beat regs of that calibre. Luckily I calmed down and went back to grinding short-handed the next day, the better over-all choice for now.

One positive thing to come out of the HU match is that I got a couple of HHs:

...I think I can just fold to the 5bet, no need to defend what may be the bottom of my range. Not sure about flop play.

Yesterday (and the end of Saturday) I had a sick badrun, many losses versus fish and whales taking fairly laugh-out-loud lines, I lost a bunch of all-ins as the old 65-80% favourite and won the only two all-ins where I got it in behind Anyway it was a -8BI run after losing 2 earlier in the week for 10 total. Actually feels pretty sick and I actually considered moving down but I don't think I can be bothered with such good games running. Going to extend my move-down stop-loss by another 5BI

Overall last week I only played 27 hours and studied a minimum of 3 hours (didn't write it all down). Pretty bad IMO need to shape up yet again. My focus is still on playing enough hours and not tilting.

Hehehe, so I'm becoming a lot more interested in my little side challenge of zoom. This is because I'm playing like a complete a total lagfish, bluffing then folding and I made several bad hero-calls too, made a couple of hero-folds that turned out to be completely horrible and I got a little unlucky. I'm on the final BI of my $10 starting roll or w/e it was! The nicest part is that I don't even care about losing, its just so much fun to step down to 12 times smaller stakes and try to play exploitatively

If I can manage to actually beat this stake playing the way I am I think it should be an enormous help to my game. Will be posting a graph either when I bust and redeposit or robusto.

Sorry for a lack of updates, I have been rather busy moving cities! Currently have no home but will hopefully be moving into a new apartment soon. Hoping my month is not going to be too disturbed, I only got 7 hours of play in this week because of everything

A long post!

So, I recently travelled the 500km or whatever it was to a new city with the girlfriend as she got a new job (i accompanied her to the city a while back when she did her interview). Things have been a little crazy staying at friends places and a couple of nights in a private studio that the owner was renting out.

We have also discovered that there are crazy requirements if you want to rent an apartment in this city. People must be so untrustworthy because you need:

• Contract of employment
• Taxes for the previous year (proof of 12 paycheques)
• A sponsor (if you do not have proof of 12 paycheques)
• Some companies even require you to provide 12 months of rent cheques in advance!

Here is a view from the 12th floor studio where we stayed for 2 nights in Santiago de Chile. The building I am taking this picture from is pretty new and nice, it had a swimming pool, gym, barbeque areas, 'gourmet' rooms (fancy barbeque alternative) and a terrace on the roof. The views from the 26/27th floor of these places is very impressive but I didn't have my phone with me so this one will have to do you:

Here is my New mouse-pad. My girlfriend got me a steelseries 'diablo 3 wizard' for christmas and seemingly decided that I would have actually preferred the other option at the store. We went back 3 times but they never got the other one in (they got a slightly different one with a grippier rather than smooth surface). When we came to this other city we went to a store in the same chain and Bam, finally exchanged it!

I think I have to delay slightly posting my goals etc for the year due to this current situation, but I at least know I am going to be in europe for a couple of months during February/March, things should be easier for me then.

The HUDless aspect can take some getting used to I suppose, but in ways I think it can make you play better.

On the other hand, like in the session I just played for example variance can be really cruel. It is so easy to just lose 7 to 10 medium to big pots vs hands that villains should just never have but somehow do. It seems if you play ATC preflop vs me you're in for some +4BI sessions rather than just losing ones. Its kind of hard to take sometimes!
