Why would be wrong when we are in the BB vs SB open to 3bet as much as sb opens.

Then we flat vs 4bet at least as much as is the range sb 4bets. -of course we have a stack off range as well-.

This question comes from two facts: 1) when we take the pot preflop is more +ev than playing postflop mostly for all the hands. 2) sb shouldn't be comfortable playing 3bet pots oop.

How sb would adapt? At the end of the day he should steal less isn't it?

What is the value:bluff ratio in 3bet flop? Flop, turn, river ?( I think now on 100bb stack.. And what about in the deep game?

Preflop
~1:1 preflop for 3bet range, 4b range, 5b range

Postflop
~2-3 bluffs for every value combo on the flop
1:1 on the turn
2 value hands for every bluff on the river

This is pretty well explained in Matthew Janda's book Applications of NLHE so you might want to check that out.

I've been away for 3 months. 2 months living in AMS/NL with my JC classmate and 1 month living with Internet in Edinburgh/Scotland

I will be back on the 23rd. Things are not looking great, and I just hope that I can get my supernova elite peacefully without any restrictions being imposed.

I might try to source for a VPN as a backup plan, in case the govt decides to drop the hammer this year.

I don't quite get your question.

You're asking me whether BB should 3bet 30% if SB opens 30%?

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. You are just bloating up the pot with a ton of weak hands, and SB can just 4bet with the appropriate frequency while folding his weak hands. Many hands also play much better with a flat -> EV(call) > EV(3bet) > EV(fold)

I don't think it would be a super bad strategy though. Could work against plenty of guys at lower limits. You would probably need to use small 3b sizes to encourage SB to call a ton, if not SB can stick a lot more to a 4b or fold strategy.

1. You are not taking down the pot all that often if you are 3betting so much. SB will adjust appropriately by hardly folding anything, and 4betting a ton
2. Not being comfortable playing OOP mostly applies to microstakes regs. I think if you play well it shouldn't be too difficult

I'm not sure what the optimal opening frequency would look like. Probably limp 50% of starting hands, or maybe open top 25-30%

Camtasia is the best but it costs 200$, so you have to get it from elsewhere ;)
Apowersoft has a free online screen recorder which is pretty good.

Main advantage of Camtasia is that you get to edit the video and increase the production value. Most people don't need this.

I'm aware that such deals are very much in favour of the student. Your goal is to convince the coach that he stands to gain a lot :)

Hey, Leatherass in one of his videos where he reveiwed your database ( http://www.pokerstrategy.com/video/21770/, he wonders why you have not too good red line and in min 20:30 he started talking about topic which intrigued me) he said that when he calls oop he has a big fold to cbet and showed few examples like x/f 77 on 442.
He said he has something like 50% and your 38% is probably big leak, cause you might be calling too much flops and folding too much on later streets.
Like with this 77 hand he said either x/c 3 times if he knows villain is agro or x/f right away on flop.

Could you tell what you think about it now?

thanks

Hi!

Thank you for the answer! :f_thumbsup:

Last week I ordered Janda's book on amazon. :)

I just tried out the new free HUD from Jivaro. It only shows three stats versus all the other stats HM and PT show. I can guess more information is better but it has been a complicated journey to learn how to use all that information correctly. Do you think displaying 3 stats is enough to help your game?

Thanks in advance!

Do you think poker will still be profitable enough to make a living in the next few years?

I remember some people flamed me for calling 22 on a AXXr flop before in BB vs BU. Leatherass said it was too loose as well. Looking back, defending 22 is really standard (My justification for calling is that 22 has ~50% equity vs a 100% cbet range from a typical 50% opening range).

I think it simply goes to show how much poker has evolved over the past 3-4 years, especially as people start paying more attention to fundamental game theory concepts. Another thing to point out is that most of the guys from the "old guard" who went inactive for 2-3 years are no longer able to beat the same games.

I would strongly advise against watching outdated videos (>1 year old) unless you are a complete beginner.

I have no idea what Jivaro is. Having more stats is definitely good but try to avoid overwhelming yourself with information if you don't know how to make good use of it and also if you lack a good sample size.

I tend to rely heavily on popups because I don't like clutter on my screen and I don't really have a good setup (no dual/triple monitors). And most importantly, try to focus on fundamentals first.

Enough for who? Winrates will continue to drop at every limit, more lazy people will be weeded out. But there will still be money left for those who are intelligent and work hard.

The top players are all pretty smart and generally have good work ethics. So I think high stakes players will start to struggle a lot more in the coming years. But if you are playing SSNL, it will still be relatively easy. SSNL is filled with lazy people who are looking for easy money and are content with making a few K per month, and part-time students who cannot put in their 100%.

hi mbml, i'll be grateful for your answer

i'm from the spanish community, i've been playing poker for some years, i played NL25 in Full Tilt Poker before the black friday, i remember that for me it was more difficult to play in Full tilt but i loved the software and i played against regs every day.

after the black friday i found out other poker rooms and it was easier to win for me, so i could beat the levels until almost NL100, the biggest problem is the traffic and that now i'm basically a bumhunter, i'm not proud of that, i feel like lazy people as your mencioned in the post before.

so what you could recommend me? should i come back to poker stars or full tilt or what could be the advantages? why should i leave my comfort zone? i don't have to face big downswings but i just feel like a ordinary standard reg.

regards!

How much time should you be spending on mastering multiple stack depths instead of the usual 100bb game. I feel like a lot of people play a lot different with 120bb already
