Preparing update now but before it I would like to thank in public Mr Robin Sharma for always being so true with his cause and providing powerful ideas and inspiration to the whole world.

Check out this poster - I found myself a lot in it.

April Challenge

Day 11

Coached SNGs 2.5 hours
Studied CG 1.5 hours
Talked with brutal reg 1 hour
Grinded online CG 4 hours
Went for coffee with best friend
Watched Bourne Identity

Total 8 hours of Poker activity.

Productive day today.
Very effective day for SNG coaching and CG grind. I feel I could have studied 1 more hour minimum but opted in to watch Bourne Identity movie (Matt Damon and Jason Statham my favorite actors!)

Coaching SNGs
Session with Kornel lasted close to 1.5 hours. We covered 4 very important concepts and reviewed couple of hands from our private forum. The session was extremely useful as it covered common leaks that all players make especially regs in SNGs. I asked for permission from Kornel to share the lesson with whole group and he was more than happy to share it with them. Guys already have in our shared video folder over 30 hours of video material and that is just in past 2 months, if we take into consideration the videos from previous period they have close to 200 hours of video materials easily. So tons of value for them to study from away from our sessions. Very proud of that and will continue recording videos for all of them to keep helping them crush the games in years to come.
Remaining 1 hour I responded to all hands from 1 specific area in hand evaluation part of our private forum. All hands had strategy related questions that took a lot of time to respond to. Definitely happy and thriled that I did this tonight, they can learn so much from those answers and thinking process and start applying it in their future games.

Studying CG
1.5 hours total. 0.5 with brutal reg over Skype, discussed strategy for 2 particular hands that I missplayed today (that with certain dynamics could go the way I actually played them!). Brutal reg friend had some excellent observations and advices (as always) and I am happy that we talked 1 hour today from which 0.5 he was helping me with my game plan.
Remaining 1 hour of my study I went through specific filter for all hands for today and found leaks - which I expected cause my mental game was at one point during the day weaker due to tilt trigger that I have in CG on this particular limit (which I am aware of and fighting against). So from studying 1 hour on my own I analyzed in depth 2 hands + marked the hands where I think alternative line could have been taken in such spot.
I definitely feel that today I could have won close to if not 2 more buy ins but didn't due to 2 missplayed hands and some other "small" hands that could have gone differently. Will ask w34z3l about those on Tuesday.

NL50 ZOOM Grinding
4 hours of grinding today which is great. 1 hour in coffee place, 3 hours at home. Stars was lagging around my 3rd session and at time that my tilt trigger got activated also, so I took the brake to cool of and return with clear mind. You will see this brake showing up exactly on the graph because I finished that session with -70$ and ended day in profit 152 (close to 5 buy ins turn around). The brake helped me regenerate, enter the tables with clear mind and crush some more with solid B game.
Happy with volume, 3223 hands today and on track for 90k target for the month. Made mistakes today in the game which could and should have been avoided and like I said feel that I could have made 2 more buy ins today.
I am not worried however because past days my mental game was very strong and today it slipped up just for a bit but I returned with very strong focus and crushed.
By the end of the month, might shot some NL100 to make more money for w34z3l as part of our deal that is ending on 1st of May. Speaking of which, I definitely plan to purchase hand evaluations packages and determine how many sessions per week to do depending on financial situation. I can see myself affording monthly always for hand evaluations but coaching depend on other variables that I mentioned in previous updates.
If w34z3l doesn't approve NL100 by 1st of May, I will definitely take shots at it in May with 5 buy ins stop loss (2k roll, 500$ for NL100). Expect that with current knowledge NL100 ZOOM will not be that big of a deal except that I will need to adjust to different amounts for sizing's and swings. This is normal for any limit and after a short period becomes a new normal.
Will keep you updated about NL100 shot taking in near future.

Here is the graph for today 3223 hands 9.45bb/100 EV 13bb/100:

Tomorrow/today is Easter in Serbia. Time management wise, I will focus on spending most of the day with my family. Depending on when I get back home, I might hit 3k hands again, if I don't that is fine, I will put additional hours to make up that volume.

Phew read the last 2 pages and I am exhausted as per normal. All the very best to you, I am not sure I know of anyone else who works as hard as you do, it has to pay off.

I have not been around for a while but I assume the coaching thing on here did not come to anything?

Steve

Hey Steve!!!
I am very happy to see you always here in the blog.
How are things, what have you been up to?

Thank you for all the kind words, I appreciate all the encouragement really. I feel that I am not doing anything special except setting priorities and sticking to them strongly, focusing brutally to accomplish goals that I have set for this year. I definitely feel that I am not doing my best yet and most likely I can get to 9 productive hours per day eventually. How soon will that happen? It is hard to say because of so many things that can affect this schedule. Also different activity requires different energy levels. One thing that is sure is that all things I am doing (studying, grinding, coaching and taking coaching) require a lot of energy and focus. Hope to have months like March often and results will obviously follow from such approach (and they already are).

Regarding coaching here at PS... I made a strong decision to focus on improving myself as a player this year and when it comes to coaching just helping the people that I currently work with. I felt it would be very unrealistic and not fair to my current students to take a whole bunch of people in and to do material for PS which potentially would lead into webinars and responsibilities outside of just making videos. So I just said to myself it is not the right time to do it all.
Once I crush CG, I can talk to them again and perhaps offer double value with my coaching and potentially help SNG players switch to CG (follow my example as I heard recently many already are doing :) .

Stop by more often Steve and I hope things are great on your end!

Keep in touch my friend :f_thumbsup:

Day 12

Family day
Easter
Exchanged messages family and close friends
GOT (Game of Thrones)
Fixing HM2 (whole day)
Grinding online CG 1.5 hours

Total 1.5 hours of Poker activities.

Happy Easter to all the Serbian and other nationalities that celebrated it today!

Not a very productive day for poker but there were 4 things that broke down my grind greatly: 1) Family day 2) Easter 3) HM2 fixing 4) Stars lagging
I hoped to get to 2k hands but in the end managed to grind only 842 hands. Results will shock maybe a lot of people but I honestly expected not to have trouble today (weekend + NL100 not that different from NL50).

Most important thing before sharing graph and info about grind is that I talked with w34z3l in the morning and he gave me green light to shoot NL100 ZOOM. He basically said that if I feel that I can beat it after 50k+ hands of beating NL50 ZOOM comfortably then why not give it a shot?
We discussed the strategy for the bankroll and I shared with him that I plan 500$ just for NL100, if I drop those then obviously I would just return to 4 tabling NL50 ZOOM and then take a shot again when I win 500$ more. In the end I assured him that his cut would not be jeopardized regardless of how NL100 shot goes.

So today's grind I went for 2 tabling NL100 ZOOM and 1 tabling NL50 ZOOM. It was super laggy because Stars was updating their software (like past 4-5 days). I then took a brake, loaded up 1 table to see whats up and check if my HM2 is now synched to work (had to restart it for HUD to load) and then noticed that it was smoother. Finally I opened 3 tables, 2xNL100 ZOOM and 1xNL50 ZOOM. As I was cruising easily through all 3 tables, I added 4th table and it was NL50 ZOOM.
I can safely say that my decision making and B+ game was happening at all the tables. I had good card distribution and also won 1 pre flop all in as huge under dog but in a super standard play (with KK vs AA on NL100). Post flop was great and am very happy how it all went.

Here is the combined graph for today and information provided below about both limits:

527 NL100 439.36$ 83.37/100 ev 42.57/100
315 NL50 74.57$ 47.35/100 ev 47.24/100
842 combined 513.93$ 69.9bb/100 ev 43.3bb/100

Session with w34z3l tomorrow, feel he will be very happy to see this nice upswing especially towards the end of our deal :)
Look forward to leak fixing and talk some more about those HH packages.

Hi mate,

I do pop in every now and again just to see what you and a few of the others I follow are up to. With regards to your work ethics, I feel that because you have done this over a long period of time and have been hugely consistent in your approach it is that longevity to me that is remarkable. How many blogs die almost straight away - most, how many last a year - some, how many keep regenerating and keep growing... only yours I think. Any way you know how you are admired by so many of us that follow you. You deserve everything you achieve.

Not playing much, shocked eh :) Keeping fit, enjoying my work and my family so all of the important things right :)

Only one tiny, tiny, tiny, little way that I could help you :) It is " break" not "brake". hehehehehe

Regards

Steve

Hey Steve!

Very happy to hear about health and family related things - great for you!
Don't worry about poker, it will be there in one way or the other. The games you were playing are also affected by ante introduction so strategy is going to be different in them also :)

Break vs Brake thing. I watched fanatically that TV Show Prison Brake that it is just automatically wired in my head to write it out like that. Bad habit I guess, which I will work on correcting - thanks for correcting me!

Finally thank you for all the words of encouragement. It really means a lot coming from you my friend. Blog is growing high at very fast pace. I must admit that I was quite surprised the other day when I checked the number of views/reads within 24 hours period. I believe it was over 500 people checking it daily. I remember like it was yesterday when there was 30-40-50 people following it. It makes me very happy to know that people out there find something that is of use to them here. I hope that I can inspire them all to set their goals, create schedule how to reach it and just focus relentlessly to become successful at things that they set out. I know it makes me always feel great when I set out something to do and complete it. I feel even better when that things includes me helping other people. This is why I enjoy coaching and teaching in general. It is not the money part for sure (ask my students) but the fact that I am helping somebody become better and reach their goals and dreams faster.

For the end, I am signing off with this from legendary Mr Robin Sharma and I hope to see you more frequently in the future around!

Day 13

Session with w34z3l 1.5 hours
Worked on the game 1.5 hours
Grinded online CG 4.2 hours
Coached SNGs 1 hour
Meet with best friend for coffee
Watched Partizan vs Ofk game (2 hours)
Did HM2 setting up with friend and fellow reg for about 40 minutes

Overall 8.2 hours of Poker activity.

Very productive day.
Tons of things accomplished today which is great. I managed to put 3k hands in, have session with w34z3l, study and review my game, evaluate hands in our private forum and despite it all meet with best friend for a coffee and watch Partizan Belgrade game.

Session with w34z3l
We went over 2 filters in depth and w34z3l gave me 2 more filters for assignment by Thursday for me to run the hands and write out things that I found from it.
We also discussed hands that came up in the session and managed to touch upon NL100 ZOOM hands with things related to game plan changes. I had very specific questions as I already noticed that people are playing somewhat different on NL100 vs NL50. I think it is still beatable limit but there definitely needs to be adjustment in strategy. So I discussed that in session with w34z3l today and told him what I felt was the right adjustment where he gave me green light to start doing those things since he also feels I am capable to change such things.
Overall very productive and useful session. I look forward to Thursday and continuing to fix my biggest leak. By then I will also have more hands from NL100 so more spots to analyze and discuss.

Studying CG
Total 1.5 hours of studying today. I analyzed 4 hands in depth + reviewed all the hands from today with very specific filter that I always use.
Since today was a negative day, it was very important (just like with positive day) to see if I had tactical mistakes and to remember where my weaker mental game affected the decision making process.
There were periods where I was playing maybe C game or so which is definitely not advisable for NL100 ZOOM and 4 tabling (2xNL100 and 2xNL50). Also today was just kind of the day where there were tons of more difficult, brake even, border line type of spots which required me more time to think through and make the decision. It is usually with those spots that if I rush that I would make a mistake.
So today from all the hands reviewed, despite -472.41$, I found out that I could have saved up minimum half of that money (on NL100). I was making plays that are +EV with considerations of my full range in those spots expecting opponent to fold off certain hands. But, in reality, it turns out that even on NL100 ZOOM people are very calling station happy, calling of in 3 and 4 bet pots very bad ranges. This lesson cost me today 2 river spots which were together worth about 100$.
These spots lead to another mistake which used to be my leak 2-3 months ago but I fixed it and brought it down to a minimum. It happened today due to weak mental game and there I could have saved additional 74$.
The rest of the losses were AKs vs QQ, lossing with two pairs turn to river vs OESD that gets there, losing with nut flush and OEStraightFlush vs FH turn to river, loosing with QQ vs 4 possible combos on the turn that only beat me (we got it in on the turn) etc
So I would say that there were 2 main mistakes I made today and conclusions that I got out of studying session today: 1) I was giving credit NL100 opponents that they would play better in 3 and 4 bet spots vs NL50 guys (projection bias leak - they still make wide and unprofitable calls) 2) My mental game on NL100 can't be at any given moment at C game cause it will potentially loose me a lot more money long run.
Today I ran twice into top of the range and this mistake I made was due to bad mental game in that particular spot after which I stopped playing.
Just to be clear, there were a lot of great plays also but when I am working on the game I am focusing on finding leaks and fixing them and when I go over the spots that I played well I just say to myself standard well done and move on.
Tomorrow I have session with fellow reg and we will go over more hands. Today I am happy that I went through this filter + analyzed in depth 4 hands. It really shoved me that at best I could have saved half money here which is really important and it can add up to a lot long term.

Grinding NL50 ZOOM
4.2 hours of grinding, 4 tabling 2xNL100 ZOOM and 2xNL50 ZOOM. I was playing in sets of 800 hands or so which takes approximately 1 hour or so.
I would grade my whole grind today with C using grading system A to F. I am positive however that today's grind is a great lecture to me when it comes to future sessions on NL100.
People say that games are harder to beat, better opponents etc. While that may be true to some extent, I assure you all that NL100 ZOOM is very beatable limit and all it takes is hard work and dedication - that is all there is to it, nothing more and nothing less than that.
I saw regs from NL50 playing it and I also saw level of play being higher today. I prefer not to go into specific hands and tactical adjustments but trust me when I say that people are doing different things there.
Personally I wouldn't advise any BE NL50 ZOOM player to go to NL100. I even think with 4bb you would be BE on NL100. I think with 7bb/100 on NL50 and great understanding of ranges and how to adjust your game plan to different reg type, you can expect to make 3bb+/100 on NL100 long term way easier.
I will continue to 4 table in following days and mix NL50 with NL100 with 3k hands target per day. Honestly after this -472.41$ day, I don't feel anywhere further from playing this limit and beating it full time then I was feeling it yesterday when I started mixing it again. All I have to do is keep strong mental game and focus, make the best decisions possible, readjust strategy vs better regs and win rate should follow very soon on NL100.

Here is the graph for today 3017 combined -18.55bb/100 EV -16.29bb/100:

Info for both limits:

1573 hands nl50 -87$ -11.09bb/100 ev -13.14bb/100
1444 hands nl100 -385.19$ -26.68bb/100 ev - 19.44bb/100

Coaching SNGs:
Responded to Skype questions, set up session with Darko and responded to daily tracking threads + evaluated hands on the forum.
Very productive 1 hour of SNG Coaching.

Quick update:

HU Championship is back ! Last year I lasted until semi finals or so :) This year format is different because it is HU CG which I never played. I feel I can still provide a lot of value in this format so hoping to last long in the event and learn things along the way. Hopefully I will connect with some cool members from PS this way also!

April Challenge

Day 14

Finished some very important things in the morning for car and bills
Studied 1.5 hour
Grinded online CG 3.75 hours
Went to lunch with brother, best friend and another friend
Went for coffee with best friend and another friend joining us
Watched basketball derby

Total 5.25 hours of Poker activity.

Not a very productive day for poker but for other activities it was great.
I am disappointed that my mental game today affected my results/win rate greatly. I have definitely noticed the trend that the further the day passes, less energy I have for high intensity grind, especially if during the day there are other activities (just today lunch + coffee with best friend and another friend was easily 4 hours where I grinded 800 hands with them and 800 hands in the morning with fellow reg). So in future days I will change my time management to grind those 3.5-4 hours of poker + study 1 hour all before 5pm. After that I will aim to rest, do other life things and then when regenerated put additional hours into studying.
Instead of writing about studying and grinding individually, I will just say that studying went great and grind was excellent 2 out of 4 sessions. Remaining 2 sessions I managed to loose from 600$ + , went down to -100$! The worse part is, there were only 3-4 spots that I can categorize as bad beat in such spots but most of the money lost today was my fault.
I also think that mentally when I was up 600$ after 2 hours of grinding super focused, it just seemed unreal to me because during that time I was doing B+ A- game and really crushing. 3rd and 4th sessions were just terrible because one bad decision lead to more bed decisions and then 4 hands later you see huge drop. One specific hand I lost 274$ in 4 bet pot which was totally unnecessary in my opinion. I did have QQ vs AA setup on NL100 which really doesn't mater but then there were spots where I was just making wrong decisions due to mental game being weaker in those spots.
Like I said, the fact that I had tons of things during the day, by the time I got home, my energy was running lower and the best decision would have been to just not grind but rebuild momentum through studying and analysis and/or rest appropriately.
Funny thing about this day today is, after 3 days of mixing NL50 and NL100, I am down 50$ only. I could have been up around 400$+ if it weren't for my mental game mistakes (tilt triggers in CG). So number one priority is to deal with that as NL100 opponents are better and these things can be very costly long term. NL50 on the other side feels very easy now and I have no problems with it whatsoever. Also need to get used to different amounts of money swinging with NL100 active. Different $ amounts pre and post flop and different tendencies from regs on that limit. It might take me a week or two but once I get used to it, beating the limit will come naturally with current knowledge and then some more improved by then.

So from all the things that happened today (and yesterday with mental game), here are some major conclusions I took out:
1) Create a schedule that focuses on studying and grinding as absolute priorities in the day - to complete those tasks at times with most energy levels, earliest during the day!
2) If energy levels are dropping down, rest to regenerate or simply regain momentum by studying more reviewing the game and then hitting the tables again
3) Use past 3 days as a HUGE LESSON for what kind of mental game is not good to have long term in CG as it would result to BE or even losing win rate pre RB
4) Tackle those CG tilt triggers and deal with them best way possible. It might mean doing NL100 when playing on my own (to decrease additional pressure), it might be taking even more breaks when grinding, it could even be brother getting couple of more freelancing jobs or one full time offer soon (not to worry about our May situation), or simply finishing it all at the earliest time of the day.
5) NL100 is very much beatable, I see myself having positive pre RB win rate with B- game minimum on such limit. NL50 is a place to make money steady and continue to study things to improve the win rates further.
6) Realized that I can always stay on NL50 and make money while taking shots on NL100 before I feel absolutely ready to move full time to such limit. This shot taking despite starting great and swinging with win rate due to poor mental game and focus/rushing at important spots, should not have any financial expectations!!! I should just focus on playing always and absolutely close to my best with most focus and best possible decisions - results will definitely follow and all the bad beats or players making bad calls wouldn't matter in the world in such spots!
7) There were tons of positive things that happened in last 3 months but I need to keep focusing on things that I need to fix to keep on improving, so no time to take any brake, have to keep pushing myself harder every day especially with studying to reach a point of absolute comfort-ability on NL100 so that auto pilot can start to kick in and I can watch tv shows in the background while grinding just like I did with SNGs.

Here is the graph for today 3019 hands -0.01bb/100 EV -1.17bb/100:

Results by limits
NL50 1538 hands +91.7$ 11.92bb/100 EV 8bb/100
NL100 1481 hands -183.78$ -12.41bb/100 EV 10.47bb/100

Spoiler

I'm following your journey and progresses... Already took your ideia into my blog daily posts and I hope I can become half of what you are as a dedicated player to the game, but more than that, to life improvement and self awareness...

I can't add value into your posts, but let me make a suggestion. Why don't you do a Mental Diary and start getting some Warm-Up routine ? This is how it works:
- Before grinding go to your Mental Diary and answer the questions, "Why am I going to play?" and "How am I feeling right now?";
- After that do your Warm-Up routine with the "Why am I going to play?" answer in mind;
- After Warm-Up answer again to the question "How am I feeling right now?" and compare the first answer with this second one... If you can't see changes for better, than you might think twice before hit the tables (but I can say that you will notice differences for the better and it will help you start stronger);

Okay, this is before grind session. Now after the session:
- Go to your Mental Diary and answer the questions, "What did I felt along the session?" (every single emotion you need to describe even if you start thinking in gf or other stuff), "What did I made/though?" (every line of thinking that you got and how your emotions related to your play lines) and for last but not least answer the question "What I could do differently?" (it can be a specific hand, but mostly this is to focus on your Mental Game, so write things about it more than technical stuff)...

After this process and a few sessions you will have material to analyze your own Mental Game as we do with our HH for looking for leaks...

It can sound a little bit complicated, but I guarantee that is not ;)
You can add me in PS community and share Skype if you want (for me it would be great)...

P.S.: This process is not mine neither developed by myself, but is something I been using for a long time...

April Challenge

Day 15

Grinded online CG 0.75 hours
Coached SNGs 1 hour
Meet with best friend for coffee (2 hours)
Had a talk with w34z3l 0.5 hour+
Had a afternoon nap 2.5 hours
Watched basketball derby 2 hours

Total 1.75 hours of Poker activities.

Very unproductive day for poker.
I woke up early but my energy and motivation was not there. I was still upset about my plays from yesterday.
Was supposed to work with fellow reg but postponed it, planed to play it by the ear whole day and regenerate - play if I felt like it.
So I went out for coffee with best friend and didn't grind. We just enjoyed lovely weather out and talked over 2 hours. Really great times.
I came back home and I felt very regenerated, ate lunch and decided to grind some.
I did about 0.5 hour of grinding and in that period was already down 200$ or so. NL50 KK vs AA + AK vs QQ, NL100 straight vs fh and card dead with 1 bluff catcher running into top of the range (gutter that got there).
So results wise another bad day which doesn't worry me at all, I am just very happy that today I took out time to regenerate and figure out things about CrossFit, healthy eating, schedule from 1st of May, how to accomplish all the goals set in this month (90k hands), to keep doing studying with fellow reg and brutal reg.
Probably the best news today is that my brother got shortlisted for 5 more jobs. There is a lot of great things happening for him in freelancing world and it makes me very happy to see that things will finally work out financially. He can always come back to poker as recreational player, and study and improve without any financial expectations which will be much easier to do when you have some sort of steady pay which freelancing offers much better vs poker of course.

So here is the graph for today 652 hands -52.23bb/100 EV -43.07bb/100:

I still have about 250$ left to reach stop loss for NL100 and 2 weeks left in the deal with w34z3l.
Focus in remaining 2 weeks will be to grind out those 90k hands, take frequent brakes and regenerate, meet up with my friend and brutal CrossFit coach to arrange my return to trainings and keep studying active with fellow reg and also a brutal reg.
Combination of those things will always be long term +EV for results on the table but especially of the table. I noticed since I stopped doing CrossFit (after I got sick in Gevgelija so 2 months ago) I have been missing energy and my body is changing and I am readopting some bad habits which I want to put a stop on. I can find 1000 excuses but I don't ever want to do that shit, I always want to take care of things that are in my control. Working out and eating healthy is in my control, it costs additional money and requires different time management + physical sacrifice (pushing up that pain envelope and barrier in CrossFit trainings) but there is way too many benefits that these 2 areas bring to my life overall. Feeling and living better, having tons of more energy, even more confidence which definitely translates at the tables as well and increased focus due to stronger and larger energy levels through out the day.
So like I said, one of the main priorities will be to meet with friend and brutal CrossFit coach to set up trainings and get me back on track. I will suggest to him to put me back 1 month into CrossFit beginner course AGAIN so that I can ease into it and relearn all the proper moves (3 times per week training for 4 weeks = 12 trainings), while in the meanwhile looking into hiring personal cook to come over 1-3 times per week to prepare all lunches and dinners.
Key thing will also be to put all this on paper and see what it comes out to but without actual food CrossFit + personal cook should come about 150 euros per month and then for food additional 150 euros minimum, 300 euro investment for more energy, healthier, happier and more fulfilled lifestyle!
I spoke about all this to my best friend today also and before that with fellow reg, they both gave me similar advice which was to get back into it ASAP not to wait 1st of May if I noticed that much difference since I stopped training - which I have, minimum 1-2 hours of less energy per day to do things which is really huge long term.

Today was such an important day for me because I really took couple of hours to reflect in depth on my mission and vision and reconsider priorities in time management.

Tomorrow there is about 3 main things planed: 1) Session with w34z3l (11-12:30pm) 2) HU Championship match (1:30-3pm Serbian time zone) 3) Grinding 3k hands (close to 4 hours of grinding for the rest of the day).
Everything else (eating resting meeting with best friend and talking with students fellow regs) will fit in between those things.

HI CardsUpPoet,

Those are some great advices regarding mental game.
I completed whole Mental Game of Poker 1 book in 2013 and it really helped me improve even more in SNGs. Tilt report card was the key concept as well as injecting logic.
SNGs are very different vs CG. They are mostly based on all in decisions in late game, playing bubble well and dominating HU for shallow stacks. With such effective stacks and strategy, your edges are decreased in comparison to CG.
When I decided to switch to CG and start studying it (late December 2014), I realized that it would be very different and more difficult to do it. The reasons are quite simple, in SNGs you don't get to play 100bb deep poker and a lot of things I had to change. I think in those 4 months since I started studying, grinding and taking coaching for CG, I have really improved a lot. I am sure I could have improved more if it wasn't for projection bias that was leak for 2-3 months easily (pretty much gone in April) but still I am happy with things accomplished so far.
Now, main problems with mental game are financial pressure to provide for family expenses while being part of profit sharing deal, eagerly waiting for brothers situation to resolve finally while doing my best to maintain high focus and work ethic through out such hard period. In other words, I have no problem understanding what my mental game leaks are, I already know what they are :) The problem is dealing with such a high intense daily situation that has been going on for a full year now and it has affected my mental game. In SNGs that didn't matter because I could 15 table, watch/listen to tv show on 2nd monitor and make 20$+ per hour in such format literally stress free. CG is very different because regs are much better, different and more things I needed and still need to learn and adopt, I constantly need to push myself and every pot lost equals to some amount of money lost.
It is just very different to what I was used to doing 4 months ago and this is a learning curve and process that I am embracing. I am absolutely positive that things will fall into a place with couple of things happening not necessarily in this order: 1) my brother making full time living with freelancing jobs 2) me playing automatically much less under stress when I know I don't need to provide additional 700 euros every month 3) playing on my own from May and having even more money left to rebuild life roll and take shots at NL100 without any stress.
Right now what is happening is that I am taking NL100 shot, I know that tactically my game beats that limit as well, but mentally I am playing under pressure with wrong expectations and tilt triggers happened in game yesterday and day before. I don't have this problem on NL50 anymore. I now consider that limit a play ground just like I consider 15s 6 max the same way. I just don't have trouble playing NL50 anymore and I know I can stay there and make steady money from May, which I intend to do. But I am not the guy who moved to CG to settle at NL50 and make 24-30ish$ per hour. This was not my end goal because the whole point is to become better player, keep pushing the envelope and see how far I can go. I ran into obstacle, NL100 which has better regs than NL50, I am not playing with full focus and then you see from 6 stacks up down to 2.5 stacks in 4 days of grinding. These swings happen when mental game is not where it needs to be. This will keep happening because I am under constant daily stress with very large expectations for a year now. This is bound to have impact on me :) I am fighting it and I am taking small daily wins anytime I can which results into large wins over time. The biggest win that I made in past 4 months is that now I am 100% sure that I am beating NL50 ZOOM a limit that already provides me greater hourly vs 15 tabling 15$ 6 max SNGs. So in that sense I am super pleased that in 100 days or so I managed to overcome my hourly that I was building into for 2.5 years of studying and grinding SNGs. All this has even more strength when this format is very difficult since it requires much more attention to detail and perfectionism + I am on purpose playing on Stars and ZOOM which are the most difficult games online with opponents who work hard on their overall plan. I could have taken easy way out, go to some lame networks and sites, bum hunt some fishes play NL100+ and print even more money in CG. I don't want to do this, this is not what I am all about, I couldn't wake up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror you know? I want to play on Stars, beat NL100 ZOOM by the end of the year and get ready mentally, tactically and financially to play NL200+ ZOOM. This might naturally get me to go for SNE in 2016 doing ZOOM poker. SNE is not my goal nor I plan to set it as one since another main reason for switching to CG and ZOOM in particular was absolutely free time management to do things whenever I want. So I am doing all this, improving as a player and increasing my hourly so that I can eventually get to the level where I can get back to music (move to Belgrade, perform and record album) and start investing money from poker into other businesses. I am thinking about my future and I don't see myself sitting in front of computer when I am 60+ years old making a living from poker clicking buttons all day :) I want to make about 300k in next 5 years which is very realistic target if I get to NL100 ZOOM with steady win rate in this year, and I can already close down some very important financial things in our family + focus on investing money in side business(es). I am 31 now, 32 on 7th of July and I strongly believe that every day counts in poker and you should take it very serious. Games have gotten tougher , much more evolved training tools have emerged. If you sit and do nothing, be lazy and procrastinate, chances are you will be the fish in the games. So I will keep pushing myself and see how far I can get to.
Long story short, thank you for your very insightful post. Don't worry about warm up routine because I have couple different ones (session with fellow reg before grind, reviewing hands on my own, writing in depth thinking process, watching a coaching video before grind, meeting with best friend for coffee to regenerate etc), current situation is just because of NL100 and financial pressure nothing more. In 2 weeks all that will be different because I will keep playing with my roll, stick to NL50 ZOOM for full month and grind 150 hours make 4k or so and then try again NL100 with stop loss.

Thank you for following the blog and once again giving such insightful advice about dealing with mental game.

Finally, I checked your poker blog and it looks to me that you are doing great job with planing and setting out things for yourself.
I wish you only great things with all the goals that you have set out.

All the best!

Hi Ivica, very interesting things happened to you. My road is almost same. I have played with you sng on Stars, I have moved up to 30ties and then switch to CG but withdrawed almost everything. I left there about 500E and start to play NL10 which I crushed pretty easy and fast. Now I am playing NL25 ZOOM but still I am not sure if I can beat NL50. Could you give me some advices about the field on NL50 and about your studiying rules? Have you started to play NL50 immediately or you played lower stakes? Maybe you wrote it above but your blog has 140 pages and its pretty hard to find it out :f_biggrin: Which materials here on pokerstrategy would you recommend to me? I mean good videos on CG. I know videos posted by w34z3l and these videos are pretty good.

Thank you very much and wish you good luck!_thumbsup:

Expect update for Thursday and Friday tomorrow night!

April Challenge

Days 16 and 17

Studied 2 hours
Grinded online CG 9.5 hours
Session with w34z3l 1.5hours
Went with best friend for coffee

Total 12.5 hours of Poker activity.

Not as productive as I wanted those 2 days to be.
Main thing that I plan on fixing in the future is more focus on studying. I am slipping up in that area and it is starting to reflect my mindset also. So I will aim to do 2 hours daily steady studying instead of 1 hour which is OK but certainly not enough for things that I want to accomplish with CG.

Really bad mental game past couple of days. The kind of bad that shouldn't happen and that definitely will effect on win rate negatively. I will post the graph also in this update and you will see tons of swings. Most of those swings fall under following categories: 1) bluffs running into top of the ranges 2) opponents bluff catching too light but getting away with it in such hand 3) setups 4) bad plays
When you combine all those things together you get a graph that is -470.30$! NL50 ZOOM is -113.78$ which I am happy with despite everything.

Those past 2 days have been the best school in terms of mental game for CG and ZOOM.

Here are some important things for the end of the month goal setting and observations:
- I am focused on putting in hours to get to those 90k hands, right now at 50k hands mark for the month
- No more NL100 ZOOM for at least a full month
- I have to regain that 2-3 hours daily studying as 1 hour is OK but certainly not enough with such high grind targets and pace
- I am under pressure due to end of the month getting near and financial situation still hanging in the air. I will pay w34z3l for his time that is for sure but then in May I have to re-evaluate time management and priorities. The way things look I will focus on grind heavy month (90k hands) and studying minimum 45 hours with CrossFit as well, SNG coaching will mostly be in form of webinars once or twice per week.
- I decided how I will proceed with w34z3l from May which is really important for me as I plan to continue working for him.
- I need to study daily 1 hour with one of fellow regs. It is absolute priority with 1-2 hours studying on my own (hands and theory) with fellow regs 1 hour will be focusing on ranges and theory as well.
- I am eagerly waiting for brutal reg to get back to me, hopefully he will be able to help me some more.
- CrossFit has to start by 1st of May latest. I keep postponing it because of financial situation (it would require additional 150 euros minimum which I don't want to commit to right now), grind and study and all the things going on with it. Also I got friend Stanko coming to Nis on 26th and there is derby match on 25th which I might be going to (most likely not due to volume that I want to make). But definitely it is one of the top priorities to regain more energy and get back into eating more and healthier + to hire personal cook.
- Some great developments with brother's freelancing jobs which will potentially solve his financial needs
- Lost tons of time and energy past 2 days chatting via Skype so will definitely consider switching it off before grinding
- Regardless of what happens by the end of May, unless I play like a spewy retard of course, I will have very safe bankroll to continue grinding NL50 ZOOM and to take some coaching from w34z3l which is always a good thing.

Without any further things, here is the combined graph from past 2 days:

Tomorrow there is 3 main activities besides studying and grinding. There is Jelen Super League match (Serbian football) where Zvezda plays Vozdovac, team that is fighting from relegation - very important match because it comes a week before our derby with them. Then there is lunch with brother best friend and Curly which I very much look forward to. At 7pm I will hold a very 1st webinar for students of my program regarding SNGs. And finally at 9pm I will be watching and cheering in basketball derby (Partizan vs Zvezda).
So with all these things mentioned, I will have to use every single free minute to fit 4 hour grind minimum 1 hour study , webinar 1 hour minimum, lunch will be like 1.5 hour or so and basketball 2 hours as well as football game another 2 hours. It will be very difficult to squeeze it all and most likely I will grind 2 instead of 4 hours because of it (2 short sessions in the morning with studying 1 hour all before lunch).
Having said all that, there is no need to post full time management for it as I will change it depending on how things go with lunch and furhter on.

Grinding happened mostly today because yesterday my internet didn't work so I spent most of the day when I had brakes between lunch and games to study. It was and always is +EV to study, work on the game plan, remove and fix leaks and learn new things.
Today I only studied 2 hours but yesterday I studied 8 hours total. 2 hours yesterday I studied on my own by watching and learning from 2 videos + doing 4 in depth hand history analysis. Remaining 6 hours I studied with brutal reg over Skype from 12 in the evening to 6 in the morning!!! I must say that I am super grateful to have met him. He is true leader without a title, person who does his best to revile secrets of success to selected people that are really interested to go for that extra mile. He takes all this time and helps me for free without any expectations in return. This kind of behavior in today's world is just priceless as people are chasing around money and carrying about themselves mostly. Or at least that's what I was seeing mostly while living abroad and here in Serbia less but still everybody fighting for themselves. So it is very rare and pure treasure when I meet a person that is willing without expecting anything in return to help out so greatly. I mentioned in some previous updates that he can very well charge 150-200$ for his coaching in terms of how great of a teacher and knowledgeable he is. I will say it again, besides w34z3l, he is the guy that I consider the best in CG from all the guys I meet so far. I try to live my life with very similar life mission and I feel extremely happy when I make a connection with somebody who is focusing on those same values.
So studying definitely helped a lot and we analyzed another 6 hands in those 6 hours with very specific approaches. So 10 in depth hand analysis + 2 videos + 2 really important strategy approaches in 2 days = not bad for studying :)

Grinding happened mostly today as I said and just past days you read what I was going through.
My mental game is still not where I want it to be, if it was those tilt triggers wouldn't be activating so common and they wouldn't affect my decision making process.
You will see from the graph how I was swinging again in those 2 days. I am however happy today how I played for most of the time because I was paying attention to 2 new concepts that I covered in the morning. Those 2 areas were going very well for most of the time.
Times that I was loosing pots was due to either 1) projection bias 2) running into absolute top of the range 3) reg proving to be different than average reg (better) 4) setups pre flop
Overall I would say that today's grind could have gone better results wise. I haven't checked all the hands, I have session with w34z3l tomorrow and we might talk about HH evaluations at that point, but I definitely plan to check out those lost hands and see where I was misplaying or making mistakes. Regardless of it all, NL50 is very beatable limit, especially on weekends when there is tons of recreational players.
I am now a bit behind on my grinding now since I have 52496 hands and need to get to 90k in next 11 days so 3410 hands or so per day which is 4.5+ hours of grind average. I will step it up in next days and do my best to hit that grind target by the end of the month!

Here is the graph for past 2 days: 3511 hands +152.17$ 8.67bb/100 EV 10.61bb/100:

SNG Coaching Webinar went really well. I really look forward building on it in future weeks and months!

Book was phenomenal. I advise you all to read it, there is so many powerful life altering concepts and approaches in it that you can take away and improve quality of your life and even more importantly have very positive effect on other people's lives.
"The Leader Who Had no Title" by Robin Sharma - get it, read it and apply stuff from it.
I have certain things that I was not doing with enough effort which I definitely will change in the immediate future. I am sure you will all find something that you can change and have immediate impact for better results in your life and in helping other people.
