Mar.2015 little analysis

If February was a month out off the deck, which promised for March also ended up not fulfill ...
I devoted more time to the study is true, but the volume was even lower:

I play with more quality but less volume... Just 190 SnGs all 45man $ 1,50.

What went wrong then ?
- Not devoted the time I should;
- Because off-poker projects I needed to take some time off the grind.

Apr.2015 goals

April is a special month for me. Makes one year that I began seriously in Poker, ie I began studying the game and start seeing the Poker as more than a hobby...

Although my main focus is the 45man this month I entered a challenge proposed by Pedrinho15x . I, Pedrinho15x and MarcoMaori9 we have a little competition consisting of 500 SnG 18man Turbo (different format than usual) and the winner is found by ROI. I'll play the 18man $1,50 Turbo. Yesterday I had the first experience and quite liked the action that comes in that format ...
Of course I intend to win the challenge :f_cool:

The VPPs earned in this format are also more than in the 45man that will help me achieve the goal that has long propose to achieve, SilverStar on PokerStars.

Expectations ?
It will not be easy. My opponents and friends of this challenge are quite competent in grinding terms and if someone has to be the "underdog" it certainly will be me... But that's not why I'm going to give up the challenge because I still have someone to say at the end.

Why I accepted the challenge ?
It is always good to put to the test our versatility as poker players. And these 500 SNGs will serve for this. There is a very small sample, but it's not a large sample and so I think that will give an idea of how I am in this format. I happen to like challenges and challenges ... This is just another one that will do to win. :f_cool:

A little proposal ...
To all who read, challenge you to do the same. Follow me in these 500 Turbo SNGs 18man and challenge up a different from the usual format. ;)

Goals:
- Incorporate in my week 1x Session 2 tables (play without seeing the cards until my turn to act; discuss ranges according to the action; analyze the background in each spot; record the session to discuss my thoughts); (Retry)
- Incorporate in my week 1x Session 4 tables (play to review all the moves; have a theme to develop during the session, e.g.: BTN vs Blinds; record the session to discuss my thoughts); (Retry)
- Dedicate up to 20h Poker p/week (+/-);
- Achieve SilverStar status on PokerStars + VIP Reward = 505 SnGs 18man Turbo $1,50;
- Restart the project Being Better.

Today I wanted to dedicate 4h to study my game, but I just made 1h count :facepalm: .
I saw some tagged hands and I can say that I was getting myself into trouble and tricky spots with some marginal hands without being necessary :facepalm::facepalm: .

Goals for 7 April 2015:
- Finish reviewing tagged hands;
- Analyse the hands where I lost the most;
- Analyse the hands where I won the most;
- Analyse the hands where I made a 3bet call;
- Working my post-flop game with my friend from cash IuriTPena.

It's very likely that I watch 1 or 2 videos before going to bed, but if I do so I will talk about that in tomorrow's update...

Today I feel good about my time spent in Poker. 2h of hard study... Did some post-flop review with my cash friend IuriTPena and found some leaks I need to repare. Beside that I still managed to work on Iso-Sqz ranges to apply on the tables... :f_thumbsup:

Goals for 8 April 2015:
- Finish my work on Iso-Sqz ranges;
- Review my OR ranges;
- Review my 3bet ranges (3bet and call 3bet);
- Grind, 4 tables with comments in every hand to force myself thinking about my game.

As expected I worked on my Iso-Sqz ranges and took some time to review my PF lines of play (ranges for the early game where we have more playability post-flop)...
After this I made a grind session, more to study my game than for volume purpose. Played 4 tables with comments in every hand (at least I tried that) and ended up playing 4 SnGs reaching ITM in all.
It feels good to end a session up after a long time ending down :f_biggrin: but I have many work to do and a lot of stuff to study and improve in my game.

Tagged some hands in this session and tomorrow it will be the first thing I see. Want to review those spots where I think I missed some value with -cEV/-$EV moves.

Goals for 9 April 2015:
- Review/Analyse tagged hands of today's session;
- Watch/Study 2 videos;
- Grind, 4 tables with comments in every hand to force myself thinking about my game.

Made my hand analysis and a SnG review from back to back looking for leaks to be fixed...
I will invest more time on working my post-flop game and lines, cause I think I'm losing value on this topic.

Besides that, I did two grind sessions and finished green... It feels nice to start the week with the productivity on top.

Goals for 14 April 2015:
- Review/Analyse tagged hands of today's session;
- Watch/Study 2 videos;
- Grind, 4 tables with comments in every hand to force myself thinking about my game.

Did my homework by reviewing every tagged hands from yesterday, 66 hands in total...
Was a productive analysis whereas I saw some space for improvement especially in the FT.

Didn't saw any video :facepalm:
Played about 5h today and ended up on the green zone again... I will keep pushing forward .

Goals for 15 April 2015:
- Review/Analyse tagged hands of today's session;
- Watch/Study 2 videos;
( ?? ) - Grind. ( ?? ) *I will give study top priority tomorrow and by this I mean that I will just play when I finished reviewing all tagged hands from today and watch/Study at least 2 videos

15 April 2015 (wed.)

Every single hand was reviewed (close to 104 hands)...
Feels good to do all this homework. At the end I could see some leaks to be fixed and some lines of play to be improved...

Still managed some time to work/study something about HU play since I'm getting there very often and I need to make every single HU count. It's amazing the analytical part of this game... It fascinates me :f_grin:

Saw 1 video of the 2 scheduled for today.

At the end of the day I still managed to make one small grind session just to put all pieces together...
Played 6 tables with comments in every hands (seems like a streaming kinda of thing). Felt good with my overall game and decisions and arranged some hands to review tomorrow.

Goals for 16 April 2015:
- Review/Analyse tagged hands of today's session;
- Watch/Study 1 video;
- Work out some ICM ranges for FT;
- Grind Session.

Hi mate, so are you back on the 45's or still on the 18's? What time of day do you generally play and is your search on or off?

Steve

Still playing 18man Turbo ( need to change the blog name :facepalm: ).

Time of day will depend on my schedule and the great thing about 18man SnGs is that these SnGs open a lot along the day... But I can say that my main time for playing is around 21h-01h Portugal Time.

My search on sharkscope is on, you can find my results there :) .

Thanks for following :f_drink:

Today and tomorrow are my busy days with responsibilities outside Poker...
Still managed to dedicate to Poker 4h of my day.

2h to study where I reviewed my tagged hands from yesterday and still worked push ranges for FT.
2h to grind where we finished BE+ (better than negative).

Not saw any video... I can't fail tomorrow.

Already have 18h of Poker this week since Monday and for that reason tomorrow I should take it easy with soft things to do like working/studying videos. Tagged hands from today will be to analyze Saturday or Sunday depending on which day I choose to grind (I will use the hands for warm-up that day).

Goals for 17 April 2015:
- Watch/Study minimum 3 videos;
( ?? ) - Grind Light. ( ?? ) *it will depend mostly on my well being tomorrow and it just happens if I really study/watch minimum 3 videos

Did not saw any video... After 7h teaching Chess I arrived home very tired.
Took the rest of the day off.

Off-Poker .

18 April 2015 (sat.)

Off-Poker .

19 April 2015 (sun.)

Arrived home after work and decide to do a Grind Session (true story, did not saw any videos or reviewed any hands :facepalm: )...

Played the "BronzeStar+ VIP $2,000 Weekly [50 FPP]" with 18man on the mix. Guess I did well on my MTT debut:

A solid game, but in two hands I was eliminated. AJ vs A9 & ATs vs JJ...

So close to the first place...
Even so I think I played well.

In 18man we managed to get on the green and for that we finished the day up.

20 April 2015 (mon.)

Video - Grind - Video - Grind...

Reach the end of the day with a lot of tagged hands to review (still have last week hands) and ended BE- (-1BI). Was a day where the variance hit us in spots we didn't wanted to, but we must go on and fight variance with volume :f_smile: .

Productive day so far...

Reviewed every tagged hands I had on PT4 (140 hands since last week sessions) and it gave me an ideia where I'm missing value.
After session review was time to go to the tables playing a session that ended up on the green side.

Goals for 22 April 2015:
- Review/Analyse tagged hands of today's session;
- Grind.

Apr.2015 little analysis

April was a great month for several reasons...

Did one year I decided to take poker seriously and doing a brief analysis, I notice my game is much better than the one years ago (it's supposed to, isn't it ?), but not only on a technical level, I not tire or suffer to play Poker and each day brings me new challenges and puzzles I want to see resolved in my game. Too early to talk about experience, but no doubt some maturity starts to be notice.

Increased the volume to a reasonable value, still it could/should have been better...

We get 333 SnGs 18man Turbo $1,50 played and mixing a handful of 45man and another of MTTs.
It was a good deal compared to the previous month, but poor compared with the objective of 505 since not reached.

What went wrong then ?
- In the 2nd week of the month I decided to stop only a few days to study and come back stronger, something that took me some volume, but added quality;
- Later in the month I decided to get sick and wasted five days in which was enough for me just make 200 SNGs to reach my goal.

May2015 goals

For May 'll keep my game on 18man Turbo.

I think a lot to get back to the 45man after the April challenge (which is not over yet), but the truth is that I feel good in 18man...
The 18man opens steadily throughout the day, so I can make sessions at any time. They have a higher rakeback (VPPs). Last slightly less, as are fewer players, the variance tends to be lower (which may not be true).
Sure abdicate ROI to access a more dynamic format and possibly harder (due to the structure of prizepool), but it is something that will force me to be constantly analyzing my game and look for ways to evolve and be better (not that the 45man are easy only in 18man we play often more crucial stages as FTs, Bubbles, ITM and HU).

Adding to 18man Turbo I will implement a MTTs grid to Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Nothing too heavy, just to get me to get used to MTTs and have "other format" in order to not get tired...

Goals:
- Play 500 SnGs 18man Turbo;
- Play 79 MTTs;
- Study minimum 20 hours (month);
- Blog daily posts.

Hi mate, how would you compare 500 18 mans to 500 45 mans? Harder to play 500 45 mans as they take longer/run less frequently?
