strange play from very tight player

It's very hard to see what's going on when you use that format.

1st hand: Why are we betting so small on the flop? Why are we checking the turn? I would go for bet/bet/bet something like 2/3 of the pot (maybe a bit smaller on the river).

2nd hand: I would fold. There are many better aces out there and also someone might have even 55.

1. I would bet flop bigger. Turn is also a bet. As played - fold river.

2. If you are raising- you should call.

I was betting small because in general this work very well against very tight players, they often fold overcards (sometimes even overpairs that don't make a set) and will mostly raise if they are ahead. I would expect his calling range to be alot of FD/SD some small overpairs/overcards like KJ+ and quite often a (slowplayed) set in NL5. I would bet my flopped monsters in the same way. I think i checked the turn to keep the pot small and planning to call T and alot of rivers.

Given that villain makes a bet that doesn't make alot of sense and there is a player behind with VPIP of 30, it seems illogical to autofold vs his overbet. I admit calling IP would be better than raising, but given his previous maniacal tendencies he would probably shove the turn quite often. He has alot of PP in his range that don't hit this flop. Maybe he was overbetting w medium/strong PPs to test if someone would be holding an Ace?

If you expext villain's range to be mostly FD/SD, then you should bet big to charge them.

True, i didn't clearly describe my thoughts on his range for which im sorry: in his preflop calling range there isn't alot of room for suited connecters and marginal suited hands, so on this flop he won't have alot of FD and Sd, but of those he has he will probably call flop cbet with. if i bet big and get raised i would have to fold here or on later streets and because he folds alot on flop i think i risk less and can get more value from his mediocre hands if i am careful on next streets. I admit barreling turn could maybe win the hand but can it do so often enough to be +ev? I doubt it given that his range contains alot of FH and overpairs

There are a lot of higher cards that can come on turn and river that may or may not beat you.
