EDIT: I MESSED UPPPP :f_frown: I thought I was in the sports thingy, not on small talk. Sorry mods :f_confused:

Hey guys :f_drink:

I have a quick question. Last year, around November, I was in college as a very very skinny 18 year old. I decided to make a change and started dedicating myself to working out, and I went out and got a plan, learned to cook, etc. In 8-10 weeks I grew around 25lbs, most of which muscle. The progress was just amazing. I would go out every week and get one pharmacy ticket from those huge technological scales that measure everything, and I was growing amazingly well, I'd easily win around 2 lbs/week almost every week.
Started getting complemented on shoulders and my triceps were already getting pretty defined to the point you could tell I lifted through my jacket.

However I dropped college in early January, went working with my father + started studying to re-do HS final exams, and stopped having all that freedom and money to buy any food at any time and I lost every schedule and stuff. Haven't lifted since, and needless to say I lost every gain by now. I'm not as skinny as I used to be because I gained a lot of weight. Now I can maintain my weight as average (should be around 130-135lbs as opposed to the old 115-120) without worrying too much about the food, and my shoulders still look wider than they were before, but everything else is gone.

I'm thinking about getting into weightlifting again this next week, after I finish my HS exams, 5 months after I stopped training. Question being, will I enjoy the "beginner progress" again where muscles grow amazingly fast? Or did I "waste" that already?
I feel this is a dumb question but thanks anyways :f_thumbsup:

If you care about about "beginner progress", then why are you deciding to start it again? Wait a year and you will have it for sure
I would say that eat and train. Shouldn't be a problem in your "category" to get easy gains even without spending a shit ton of money.

True. I never did spend huge amounts of money. White bread, yogurts, cereals, whole milk, and eggs were the essential things in my diet. Even if I didn't have enough calories from lunch/dinner it would be very easy to make up for them. If I have those items I'm set. But still I would have to shop for them almost every day. I'd eat 2-3 yogurts (depending on how much sugar they had), at least 1 gallon of whole milk, and 3 bananas per day, and I'd finish with the bread in 1.5-2 days tops. It's a hassle to even have the time to go shopping for everything that frequently, and I don't have time to plan my meals around the day.
In college I would even eat in classes if needed be.

The 1 year-waiting thing was probably irony, but I have been thinking about it. If everything goes well I'll be back to college in October (1 year after I started working out) and along comes all the freedom I had before. My fear is starting to workout right now and the progress be much much slower than if I waited another few months and then restarted.

No problem. Now it’s on the sports board.

Thanks everyone for the answers so far :)

Oh I ate meat at lunch and dinner, sometimes after-dinner (before bed). The yogurts and bread were only to use in mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks or to balance out calories (ex. If I wasn't sure whether my dinner was 100 or 300 calories, or when I was 200 calories shy from my daily goal, a yogurt would balance it out. It's simple because most yogurts round up to 150 calories, and most white bread to 75, so it's kinda easy to pull some math using them)

Are you sure that you will have the time to stick to your schedule this time? Otherwise, you're just going to lose that muscle again.
