Hey w34z3l,
I am very curious. Do you have the green light? When are we going to have the next Academy coaching session?
Really looking forward to it. :f_thumbsup:

Adding on Common Bluff Spots:

Some filters you could review in holdem manager 2 if you're missing spots:

1) any situation where opponent skips cbet IP or OOP

- skips cbet OOP on the flop, we are IP we should bet

To find spots we could bet as coldcaller on turn filter in 2bet pots for:
In position, Did cold call = true, flop action is X

- skips cbet OOP on the Turn, we are IP we should bet:

you can change the last one by flop action is X – turn action is X

- skips cbet OOP on the River, we are IP we should bet

you can change the last one by flop action is X – turn action is X, river action is X

2) our opponents checks twice in 2bet and 3bet pots

VPIP is true, Flop action is X and Facing bet turn = false and turn bet = false

W34z3l, have some hands here where we could argue for an overbet instead of regular sizing I think.

Didn’t read the whole thread, so don't know if it's already said but maybe an Idea ->
Combine theory not with live play but sometimes also with database analyses like in your red line rampage series. Don’t know how realistic and possible that is for a live coaching, just an idea that came to my mind.

Hi livethelife7,

In both hand you are stabing with showdown value, not the best idea imo.
And, also in both hands you're overbeting, that can't be good for a lot of reasons. The main one i think it's you rep nothing. Maybe 3 combos of set and that's it.

Hello w34z3l,

thank you for your squeeze video it was probably the 2nd most useful video this year for me after your video about leading in MW spots since I had no information about this topic. I have several questions (hopefully I don´t miss the answers in the video or here).

I can demonstrate some of them on the hand bellow:

1. I have a hand like AK and facing open from UTG or MP (TAG player) and call. Without the caller my default play is just call but I think here is recommended to squueze. Problem is that if the original raiser 4bet I think his range often crushing me. I don´t think I can profitably shove here since I don´t expect enough fold equity. So it´s OK just squueze/fold in these positions (or call especially if the original coldcaller call too? - to be honest, I don´t feel comfortable to do it)?

2. Do you recommend to have a coldcall/4bet range (without exploitative reasons)? - we coldcall the initial open and 4bet vs squueze.

3. If there is a squuze and a coldcall like in the hand bellow and you want to 4bet from MP which sizing you use? I think normal 4bet is OK about 2,25x (not sure if it´s agains squueze too) but I guess in this situation we should use bigger.

The hand: MP is 20/15 with 3% 3bet against 450 hands. My sizing should be probably 12bb. If MP would 4bet normal sizing I would probably fold here since after the action I fear he shows only KK+ too often. After his direct shove I called it based the population read that this play from competent opponent is usually JJ, AK (they fear to play it postflop I guess) which I have above 46 % equity against.

CO: $6.26 (25 bb)

UTG folds, MP raises to $0.75, CO calls $0.75, BTN folds, Hero raises to $2.50, BB calls $2.25, MP raises to $33.24 and is all-in, CO folds, Hero calls $22.75 and is all-in, BB calls $5.92 and is all-in

Hi,

the first hand I would bet directly on the flop but with regular sizing - we have SD value but almost all his hands have almost 30 % equity against us (or more) so I don´t mind to fold out his overcards. On the turn as you mentioned there is a problem that we don´t rep enough good hands. But in reality I think it would be still OK bet T against average NL10 opponent after he checks twice.

Could we just do flop action = check and turn action = check for same filter? Seems easier. We can also add a position modifier.

Anyway, thanks for your post. Have 5 points.

It doesn't matter too much if we have showdown value. A common leak is to highly over-estimate showdown value and check in a situation where betting has higher EV. One adjustment we can make on occasions is to bet smaller when we have showdown value since it's less of a pure-bluff and more of a protection bet.

A useful question we can ask with any "showdown value" hand is, if we were to check back the turn, how comfortable would we feel calling a river bet from our opponent. If the answer is that we'd always fold then perhaps our showdown value is not so good after all.

Have a point =)

Usually play squeeze/fold here. It's not incorrect to do this when the 4betters range is often KK+. It's not necessarily the case that we are turning AKo into a bluff since we are hoping that we get called rather than 4bet. We also give ourselves the chance to take down the pot preflop so this is usually better than overcalling, although overcalling is not terrible in certain situations.

At micro-stakes I don't really do it. I feel it's fancy play vs unknowns. With reads it can be fine although we are typically sticking to a tight range, stuff like KQ, AJs etc.

We want to make our 4bet slightly larger since it's a 4-bet squeeze rather than a regular 4-bet. Something around 25% of effective stack is ok for a rough guide, so about $6.25 here would be a reasonable 4-bet squeeze size. So essentially slightly larger than a regular 4-bet sizing but not as much as 3x or anything. Exact sizing will depend on the effective stacks to an extent also.
