Effective Stacksize

on stars i use stars helper to give me info on effective stack in play.

also i consider effective stack to be the biggest amount u can win/lose in a given hand.

so in this case lets say u are button with 50 BBs, Sb has 40BBs, BB has 20 BBs and u are considering to open the pot.
at this moment ur effective stack is 40BBs (sb stack). if sb folds and BB calls ur effective stack becomes 20BBs.

I can see that we agree. Originally effective stack was not
ment to be used in multiways. On the other hand as
long you stick to the larger stack the troubles you will
face are smaller.

He also states that the term has wide usage and interpretation and then goes on to discuss multiway pots using the same term.

Until the PerfectPokerPedandercist Lexicon of legal terms is given UN sanction, I think we have to accept that people can barstardize any term they like, and there is no need to cease discussion of any conceptual term, just because its use can be extended to multiway pots.

I hear you, and I agree with you. My reaction was that we
have to do with a lesson in poker that says that this is the
way to calculate effective stacksizes.
Btw: HoldemResources Calculator also use effective stack
sizes in multiway. But always using the bigger of the oppo
nents that have not acted yet.

Might be worth post to feedback and suggestions

Some program might use number of stacks x stacksize (an average) less your stack?
((Because we don't know yet who is continuing in the hand))
