Poker Update

Oh yeah, I forgot these are poker blogs for a minute ;)

October so far...

Standard start to the month I am afraid. Volume low and motivation to grind is not there at the moment as I am focussed on buying this new house and making plans for my whole portfolio.

I am in the process of re-writing my poker goals so it is all a bit in the air at the moment (not much time to even do that lately!).

I am playing okay though. I am running bad so far this month in flips and coolers so will carry on next few days then Helen and I are going away for the weekend. So by Monday I will re-write my poker goals and get back to regular poker updates.

Facepalm hands....

SB: €17.97

Do you think it is ok to call down here? It is 2nd hand so unknown. I think the 5x pre (and hand typed) and the fact some straights are possible tend me to want to fold but FD missed so I want to call. I only beat a bluff ofc.

===========================================

Other stuff...

Got somebody going round few of my properties today who thinks they can get me more rent so fingers crossed.

As I say, going away Friday night for two nights (romance  ) so got that to look forward to. Oh, and a life of fulfilment of course ;)

Have a great week amigos!!! :)

Poker

Okay couple of days, very small volume due to other project. Feel like I played well and lost couple of flips and one (small) cooler.

Won around $40 at Sky poker (cannot track) so was around break even.

Boring flip...

==================================================

How you playing this...?

Hero (SB): €50.25

Hero posts SB €0.25, BB posts BB €0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: €0.75) Hero has T♠ T♣

Hero raises to €1.50, BB raises to €4.00, Hero calls €2.50

BB bets €7.35, Hero calls €7.35

River: (€30.26, 2 players) 6♥

I stopped stacking off TT pre lately (big winner told me he doesn't) but probably should esp for 80bb. As played I think call turn fold river read-less.

Other Stuff...

Not meditated for three days :( been doing paperwork after putting kids to bed then need to get playing. Will get back to it asap.

Sleep is not great. Still average 6 hours then wake up and start planning!!!

Week Update

Poker

Another rubbish graph for the collection. Won some at Skypoker and there is $30 winning hand missing off here. Had some RB come through and overall down $22 for the week.

I did not play much last week. Some of that due to concentrating on my property investments and the future of them. Some of it due to spending some time trying to figure out what I have been getting wrong over the last year. I have found it a lot easier to step back and take a deeper look at things since I have been permitted to not play so much.

I found a lot of leaks in my play this last week. A lot of leaks in my thought process.

I am excited to work on these things and am again confident that I can become a winning player.

Other stuff.

Had great weekend away with Helen. Stayed at Hilton and its really gone downhill in the last 18 months. Still we had some great laughs and found a fantastic Chinese restaurant. Legs are falling off thought due to shopping duties (marriage has down-points!).

Properties are going great. New purchase is still going through and even have some possible tenants lined up for it. Keep finding new ways to make extra bucks on them too (was never too bothered before due to lack of money conscious attitude).

Have a great week amigos, keep self educating!

Breaking News!!!

After long consideration, today I requested to terminate my Coaching for Profits contract with Gordon and Bestpokercoaching.

After some small negotiations, Gordon and I have agreed that it is in the interests of both parties that our contract is ended.

I would like to make it clear that my main reason for wanting to leave is that I am extremely dedicated to making a huge success of my property investment business. The profits to be gained there are huge and now that I have new found money consciousness I am on fire to make BIG MONEY.

Whilst I will not be participating in Coaching For Profits I will still be playing poker in order to make LOTS of money. I still have a firm conviction that I can do that and I hope that any of you who follow me will continue to support me and help me when I am struggling.

I will still be posting regularly to my blogs and I even feel a few videos brewing up inside me ;)

Let's go people! Onwards and upwards!!!! :)

Update

Poker

Day 1 out on my own (actually everyone has been awesome so its not thaaat scary!) ;)

It is two small sessions and it's kind of making me chuckle as I haven't run like that for a long time!

Was interesting getting back to playing "for myself". Got property stuff out the way, meditated, watched an old coaching video for 10 minutes and warmed up (#desire) and then ran like Usain. Not changing my game plan at all, just making sure I do stuff that Gordon taught for now.

Not really sure what I will do to improve at the moment. Will just watch old videos for now, practice equities a little bit and maybe hit the forums. Gonna kind of chill on study for a bit and just let things happen/relax.

I do feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders but I think that is mainly that Gordon has been so cool about things and very encouraging too.

I will write up some poker goals for the short term today. Thinking along the lines of a holiday pot ;) (actually I am geared so hard into properties that I probably need to make a few bucks or we're camping in the back garden next year!!!)

Other Stuff

Got so much stuff going on in my head right now. I feel like I have really got things going well for my life, feels like I advance every day and in giant leaps too! Feel like I can grow and contribute in a big way. Almost feel like I should start writing a book or something which is something I would never have considered before. Still a long way from that sort of thing though, I need to be way more successful myself before I can truly inspire people. Feels like its coming though so will keep it in mind.

GL all, keep believing in yourself! :)

It's Goal Time!!!

I will try to explain here... It is written down differently in my Journal but you know, some **** gotta stay private ;)

As I said before, Helen and I have decided to live our day-to-day expenses with cash as opposed to credit. I have geared us up rather heavily in the property market and we have some "small" debts. That means we don't have a lot of cash these days! Admittedly we do have a nice lifestyle but we are already making some compromises. I also realise a lot of people would say we are "well off". Anyway we are going to clear some debts off and this will mean no "big" holiday for us next year.

So I will pay for it with poker winnings of course!!!

I need $5000 to pay for the holiday but I also want my roll to increase as I go along. So I will every month take 50% of my winnings out for the holiday pot and keep the other 50% in my roll.

So I will make $10,000.

By August 1st 2016.

Just like that!

We're already there!!! :)

2 x 2 hour sessions. Crazy week. Not much to say. Ask and ye shall receive!

Other Stuff

Went to see kids school assembly this morning. They sing fun songs and have a jig about! When I was at school it was old fashioned hymns and stand still like a statue. I seriously hated school. Seriously. Looks quite fun now! Maybe they might even teach kids how to be happy and fulfilled these days!?

It is not just poker this week, everything seems to be coming my way! Had a laugh with the guy in the petrol station the other morning and he slid me £10 voucher under the table! I made a "small" complaint about our accommodation when we went away last weekend and they have sent us 2 free nights B+B to use in the next year (worth£200)!!! Daughter won 2 different raffles on one charity night!

I dunno wtf is going on!!!

GL everybody, hope you run as hot as me!!!

ouanling;48375051
so you were faking your results to get 1 year free coaching :P

I can't think of a way to answer this without sounding like a muppet!!! Do you think I over-cooked how bad I am or got it about right!? :)

Weekly Update 19/10/2015

Poker

Ok, there is this rather important thing called variance so let's not carried away here (yeah I am talking to myself!)!!!!

Just to summarise what I have been doing this week:-

  • Warming up with intent (meditate 20 mins, define my goals and my purpose, watch 10 min strategy video, so it is like 30+ mins!!!)
  • Played 18 hours over 8 sessions (won every single one yo!)
  • Nothing else different other than mindset to win money (not just to win).

Other Stuff

Currently I am looking into how the conscious mind works with/against the subconscious mind. Not going to go really deep here but on the surface it seems that our conscious minds are working with our current beliefs and values and our requirements but it is extremely difficult for it to override our subconscious minds which is more our IDENTITY. It is almost as though our conscious mind needs the use of will or determination and such things to get results in life. Example is giving up smoking or such. We can use our conscious mind to make us stop for some time because we know it is going to kill us/it is expensive etc but in the end if our IDENTITY is still "I am a smoker who has quit" rather than "I am a non-smoker" then we are constantly using our conscious mind and somewhat fighting the inevitable.

I have a friend who quit smoking for two and a half years and I was always amazed how he did it because he did not seem to do it how I did it (I became a non smoker overnight btw). Every time I saw him I would talk to him about it to try to get answers. Then I saw him around a month ago and he told me he had had a few cigarettes lately. It kind of blew my mind! I needed to find out why!!! What has shifted this from what I call a success into a temporary success!? After a few hours of very subtle interrogation he said what I expected to hear... "Well I am a smoker, I always was a smoker. I was just a smoker who quit". BOOM!!!

The other story I uncovered this month was one of politics. I really don't want to talk politics here but the gist of the story is somebody I know has spent at least a year protesting against something our government is doing that affects her and a lot of people close to her. For at least a year she was talking of voting for the only party that shared her view, and NOT voting for the party she has voted for all her voting life. It seemed the best thing to do was not vote and she seemed to agree with that. Then on the day of the election she voted for the party she has always voted for even thought they are going to tear part of her world apart. And she could not even answer why! (IDENTITY I tell ya!)

This is only the surface. We need to dig deep into ourselves to find our true IDENTITY and find what our subconscious mind is thinking. And then I guess we need to find a way to change our identity! Wow, sounds fun to me! I am pretty sure I just did it with my previous hate for money, but it is still a work in progress.

Man I love that money stuff!!!

Really enjoyed my session last night! Hit a couple of brick walls early on and was down around $100. Hit my 2nd cooler and it tilted me for an instant - my immediate thought was "stop loss will protect me"!!! 2 days:

Actually made $106 these two days because 1. SkyPoker cannot be tracked and 2. Two weeks ago I wrote off $50 that I deposited to Euro Bet which they then robbed me of (they stopped dealing with UK players and told me it was MY fault for depositing there not theirs! My affiliate has very kindly paid me the money back NOT Euro Bet themselves!!!).

Congrats on the recent upswing, I've been following this blog for quite some time, but never chimed in before. You were just breaking even for soooo long, I guess without the profit sharing deal you would've given up much earlier, am I right? I know I would've. I have to say I respect your sticktoitiveness, gg sir!

Happy to be this far but think it can only get better!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Stuff.

Wrote an article (see below). Hopefully it helps some people and it helps me to write stuff as I would like to become a better writer/communicator.

Had some great family times this weekend - really need more of that ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Believe and Achieve - Is It Really That Easy!?

You know what? After years of researching this, I think that this sentence is 100% true.

“If you believe it you will achieve it.”

I think it would take a whole book, maybe two or three books, to tell you all I know that will help you to achieve your desires and dreams (and they will come!) but today I am going to start with something basic. I am going to turn that statement on its head (for an easy starting point) and tell you that if you don’t believe, then your chances of achieving your dreams and desires are somewhere between 0% and 0.5% (and that is an overestimate).

Problem #1 - You don’t have any dreams.

If you are one of these people then I really feel for you. You are a result of the negative society that we live in. You likely have been brought up to believe that dreaming is wrong and that it is even bad for you.

You are the same as the people affected by Problem #2 but it has gone so deep into your subconscious mind that now you do not even dare to dream. You are paralysed by fear. Your go to thoughts are likely one of these.

  • “I am not good enough”
  • “Mistakes and failure are bad”
  • “Money/love/happiness is a limited resource”
  • “Money is the root of all evil” - I held on to this one for 40 years or so!
  • “It is not in my genes to be successful”
  • “I am just not good with money/the opposite sex/the same sex ;)
  • “Money goes to the rich and the poor get poorer”

Of course there are lots more of these but hopefully you get my point.

I am not totally convinced people like this exist but I guess they do and I just don’t know them or refuse to acknowledge it.

I don’t really see why a person with this problem would be reading this though so I am not going to dwell on it ;)

Problem #2 - You have dreams but no matter how hard you try you cannot realise them.

This is what I see time after time and it is what I suffered with.

Somewhere deep within your identity you have got limiting beliefs. These are beliefs that your subconscious has settled on as truths, as gospel. Usually these beliefs were drummed into you as a child and they become your identity.

I am sure you have heard people, when asked a question, say things like “Well that is just the way it is”, or “That is just how it’s done”, or “Life’s meant to be like that”. In other words they don’t know the answer but conventional wisdom or their identity/upbringing has lead them to believe an untruth which they now consider to be gospel without any question of doubt or logical reasoning.

Let’s look at the list of negative thoughts from Problem #1…

  • “I am not good enough” - Says who? If you suffer with this then this was your take on how you were brought up. You see, when you are a kid what you want to do and what your parents/teachers want you to do are two totally different things!!! Parents want kids to be quiet - kids want to have fun and make noise. Parents want you to be tidy - kids don’t understand why they should be tidy, they just want to play! Now what happens here is there is constant conflict. Your translation of getting told off often is that you are simply “not good enough”. Hopefully your parents did not ever say that, that’s just your interpretation. If you think this is you then you can resolve this. Don’t blame your parents though, there is no University of Parenting, they just were trying to do their best I reckon.
  • “Mistakes and failure are bad”. This is super common. Totally wrong. The person who got to the top is almost always the one who made the most mistakes and had the most failures. Really if this is you you need to get real on this and accept that making mistakes and failures are probably the most important thing you can do on your way to constant improvement and growth. Hell, I would not be writing this now if I feared failure ;)
  • “Money/love/happiness is a limited resource”. Terrible. If you give somebody value then you will get your return. Other people are making money and finding love, you can too.
  • “Money is the root of all evil” - Maybe you had dealings with some rich people that made you think like this. Isn’t it true that poor people can be evil too? The rich people/person you met like this is just doing it wrong. To assume they are like that due to riches is just plain wrong, they would be like that if they were poor too most likely.
  • “It is not in my genes to be successful” - Let the past go. Take responsibility. What other people have done has no bearing on you. You decide what you want!
  • “I am just not good with money/the opposite sex/the same sex ;)” - This makes the wrong assumption that you cannot learn new things or that you have a fixed mindset. Improve your knowledge and surround yourself with people and things that will improve how good you are.
  • “Money goes to the rich and the poor get poorer” - This is a gross generalisation and has nothing to do with YOU! Stop using this excuse to shirk responsibility for your own financial future. Your financial future is totally up to you!

So, if you suffer with Problem #2 then the future is good for you! You need to take time now to go deep into your own identity and try to find what your limiting beliefs are (remember these are just some simple examples). Then, when you start to identify those limiting beliefs, find ways to remove them (ask me if I can help), reason why they are illogical (but don’t blame others) and then set yourself on the correct path of believing that anything is possible and your dreams can become realities!

To finish this I will tell you how some of these things applied to me.

When I was young I had this crazy belief that I did not need to plan for being an adult. My father passed away when he was 25 so I always lived as though I was only going to only live to be 25. I mean this sounds really bonkers to me now but I can also see how as a kid I could make this assumption!

Then I got to 25 and 26 and I was like “Hell, what do I do now!?”. Trouble was I was totally dependent on alcohol and nicotine and had no plans or idea of how to move forward.

Anyway, I managed to get a better job (it is who you know, not what you know scenario) and started to get some good things going (bought a house) but I was still in a really bad way with drink and although I was getting paid quite well now and was renting rooms out in my own house I was flat broke always. And still drunk every day. And still smoking. And still breaking the law regularly.

Then I got my big breaks in life (although I only realised the magnitude of them recently).

First thing was I was always getting in trouble with fights and stuff and always blamed alcohol. My wife Helen (who was my friend at the time) helped me to get to a point where I went to get help (a psychologist I think he was called). Now that experience was good in itself but the main thing that happened was that the moment I stepped into his consulting room I TOOK RESPONSIBILITY. That was massive for me and it could be for you too.

Second thing was when I gave up smoking. I smoked from before the age of 10. I wanted to stop smoking from probably the age of 18 maybe younger. I tried everything I could think of including patches and the like and plain old will power and never got further than 4 to 6 weeks. And it was hell! Then I met a friend who I only saw once a year on Christmas Eve in our local pub. Offered him a cigarette and he refused. “I gave up yesterday” he said. I was like “are you crazy man, we got Christmas and all these boozing sessions coming up, you will never give up, wait until New Year’s and try again” and he was steadfast and resolute “no, I gave up today and will never smoke again”.

Now this was totally crazy to me. He told me how he had done it and so I copied him and 14 days later I became a non smoker and have never craved a cigarette since. This was the time I started to get addicted to success! A far better addiction I am sure you will agree! And this was the time I realised that anything is possible, so long as YOU BELIEVE IT IS POSSIBLE!

Since those days I have made dramatic improvements in my life as you can see in my blogs. BUT the one area I never got any improvement in was money. Yes, I get paid well and I have my property portfolio but I do not have any cash or any liquidity. And it was then that I realised I had terrible, incorrect, deep rooted, subconscious beliefs about money! I really believed that money was the root of all evil! I said this to Helen and she said “Yes, I know that, you have always hated money”!!!!!!!! Holy moly it was that obvious!?!?!?!? Well, yes it was but I could not see it.

That was 15th September 2015, 6 weeks ago (it is a “work in progress”). Since then I have: Resolved to clear our (read “my”) credit card debts, something I should not even have but through lack of respect for money have allowed to happen; made it priority to buy another property (offer accepted, just waiting for solicitors and mortgage people to sort the rest out); made some BIG goals for my property portfolio and other monetary goals that I will keep under my hat for a while ;)

If you think I can help you in anyway, no matter how big or small, please feel free to email, Skype, comment, PM or whatever me! All I want to do is help YOU feel as good as ME!

Ah well, actually no! This blog at Pokerstrategy is my newest one. If you saw my blogs at BPC or 2+2 you would see that I have been break-even for many years now! So yh, admire the "sticktoitiveness" but just don't copy my bad play ;)

Of course, it is getting better now I hope ;)

Thanks for chiming in and being positive too, it really helps.

I'm not sure if you've mentioned it somewhere and I've just overlooked it but, what do you do with the propertys? Buy them, renovate and rent or do you "flip" properties? I've seen some of those shows and damn I love them! :f_biggrin:

Update 28/10/2015

Poker

Graph for 2 days:

Mostly iPoker these two days so PT4 graph super close.

First day my warm up got messed up (kids on half term and tried to do it different to save time) and was surprised how it affected my play. Mindset was not quite right. Slight lack of focus and went more back to "playing" rather than "winning" mindset. Was interesting to learn that as it was not super different but had like 90 minutes between finishing warm up and playing and difference surprised me. Good learning experience.

Played better last night although started really card dead then ran hot, standard stuff.

I am going to get more structured on my study schedule again now. Been just meandering along with it since leaving CFP but think I will start making some daily commitment to commenting on hands and reading work book notes again now. Not sure whether to post it in poker blogs - let me know if you like to see that stuff?

Hi there! Buy them, bring them up to good standard and rent them out. I have always been in it for the long term gain than short term but that might change as life advances I think. Thanks for question!

Update

Poker

Profit for 2 days $109 (around $35 at Stars/ipoker) and $30 at Sky then some RB). Was $0 first day then $100 next. Really swingy too!

Meditation and warm up are really important to me, never realised how much.

$10k Journey

Looking forward to making a withdrawal and actually "feeling" some money ;)

Other Stuff.

Did some good work on defining my vision (of myself) more clearly. Wrote some stuff out about making the change to being more aware of the fact that money is GOOD - just to make sure I am cementing it in! All good.

Have a good weekend amigos! Run good! :)
