Final Board: Q 4 9 6 5
Hero showed A A and lost (-$2.57 net)
BTN showed Q Q and won $5.05 ($2.48 net)

Villain unknown.
Pre I cold call villains squeeze and hope MP calls it too.
OTF I'm not sure why I donked. I think I tried to induce him to raise. Should I have just x/c this? The flop doesn't look scary to me and I kind of thought that villain has AQ or KK.

Opinions?

Hello, I would simply re-raise and get it in preflop here, his very large sizing shows strenght and I assume he will not be folding to a re-raise very often

Why? It's not generally advisable to try and play a multiway pot OOP.

Your pre-flop line is bad, I'm afraid. You don't want to play in a mw pot with your hand, so why are you hoping for MP to call? You want to get all the money in pre-flop if you possibly can and the way to do that is to 4-bet. If you bet say $0.80 there's a reasonable chance he'll find the shove button.

Your post-flop line is also bad. Your hand is only medium strength. If you bet the flop you have to fold a raise, and the small raise size only confirms villain's strength: he's giving you attractive odds because he really wants to be called. He basically turns his hand face up.

I think there are two possible lines OTF. You're obviously ahead of villain's range, so you could just play the hand completely passively and check him down to show-down, then you should get well paid by hands like AQ and KK and also catch plenty of bluffs from hands like AK or JJ. Or you could x/r the flop to regain initiative (but fold to a reraise). Likely enough he'll just fold to your raise and then at least you won't get sucked out and if he calls it will usually be with worse.

Just my insight. Always try to get it in OOP. Even if I'm IP, I'm not going to flat unless I feel weakness with his 3b.

@Lathdari- I think sometimes shoving it yourself pre is way better. Most players at this level tend to be passive. They will flat JJ,TT,AQ even QQ and AK, and if the flop brings nothing to them or overs, they'll fold. These hands I mentioned that will flat a small 4b will mostly call a shove, just to avoid missing on some value IMO.

Unless we have stats/read on this guy, it's difficult to fold as well. Even if his raise looks like "they are trying to give us good odds", I doubt most of the micro players think about it. They just hit the raise button most of the time. Unless it's a reg, tight type, then yes I think folding is gonna be easier. But I agree on the 2 lines you provided. I think it's way better than donking.

Thanks guys! I see that there was some problems in my thinking pre flop. This hand was pretty poorly played. Are you sure we should fold to the raise OTF since I think his range might be QQ,KK,AQ. I believe we beat more than half of his raising range here.

Do you have any reads? Stats maybe?

You may be right. I've hardly played any NL2, but I suspect many players there have difficulty finding the shove button, but are also not too sure where the fold button is, in which case shove PF would clearly be correct. My line only works if BTN is capable of shoving hands like QQ and AK.

You may also be right OTF. Villain represents a strong hand, but he may well be overestimating the strength of his hand, in which case we could call, but I don't see what reraising accomplishes here. If we call, what are we going to do OTT? We've just put ourselves in an unnecessarily messy spot with this line. Also, it may seem like a trivial point, but there is no button which would give him a raise that size, so he must have consciously chosen it.

I think it would have been better to just 4bet this pre-flop for two reasons: you are out of position and there is another player after you who could call aswell and you don't really want to be out of position vs 2.
Donking is a strange like, but I say it's perfectly fine. X/C is also good. Don't worry about this hand. As played it's ok to stack off.

Our hand is the strongest preflop, but by invitingtoo many villains cuts our chances postflop. We should push pre.
