Hand1)
Villain is unknown, but seems to be a recreational player (Pre-flop because of stacksize and because of 22/6 stats on first 18 hands / Ingame I also check for the amount of tables villain is playing/ Postflop because of small Donkbet). On the flop villain does something which recreational players nowadays often do: She donkbets the flop small (Often those mindonks are even for 1bb). And as we can see, it leads me to suboptimal play in spots like this. I haven't figured out how to play against those moves for max ev. Should I just treat it as a check? For me it looks very weak, why I don't want to raise big here (My logic of course is not correct). I actually do the exact wrong thing here against the fish, which is raising small instead of building a big pot with probably the best hand.
But even if I had air in this spot, I wouldn't know how to play exactly. In theory against this small bet on this board texture I should not fold anything probably. But is this also true against recreational players?

Hero (MP): $13.84 (138.4 bb)
CO: $11.63 (116.3 bb)

UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.35, 3 folds, BB calls $0.25

BB bets $0.20, Hero raises to $0.50, BB calls $0.30

Turn: ($1.75) J (2 players)

River: ($2.15) 8 (2 players)

Results:

BB showed Q Q and lost (-$1.45 net)
Hero showed A A and won $2.82 ($1.37 net)

Hand2)
Another example for this situation:
This time I do well by protecting my hand on the flop. On the turn I raise for free showdown. I like my sizing although I think it could have been a little bit bigger because villain has many draws in his range and if she has a better Queen, I still have got plenty of outs. River is funny, but I think I made the right decission by folding even versus this small betsize. Villain is rarely ever bluffing in this spot. And since the A♠: is the ultimate scarecard she won't be valuebetting here anything worse than my hand.

I also found many hands in my database where I probably should have iso-raised vs. recreational players. How do you decide which hands to Iso-raise? For example:

CO: $5.56 (55.6 bb)
Hero (BTN): $11.22 (112.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with A 6
MP calls $0.10, hero?

Hand4)
I really miss out on tons of equity by betting too small versus fish. I know that tendency and in my A-game I always bet nice and big versus fish. But as the following hand shows, recreational players often lead me to betting-too-small-mistakes when I'm not on top of my game. Knowing this trigger was and still is very important for me to get rid of that leak. In the following hand I think I was fooling myself by placing too much value on the Fold-to-cbet value, which first of all is not very representative because of small sample (only 12 spots) and second of all even if I had enough sample, I should bet big anyway to get value from the hands which call me.

@Reiseleiter ... i think the folowing:
If villain plays ol/c , x/f then you can open any 2
If villain plays ol/c , x/c or donk, then you need brute equity (high card > 8)

OBS: oop its like high cards > T probably
OBS2: if villain does not take stabs at pots and lets you see free showdowns, then you can add an extra few drawing hands because they let you realize more equity

Hi,
sorry for missing the academy a long time;) Back with 2 hands for todays coaching:

#1
PokerStars - $0.16 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
BTN: $13.49
SB: $11.08
Hero (BB): $16.00
UTG: $17.99
MP: $17.17
CO: $17.67

SB posts SB $0.08, Hero posts BB $0.16

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.24) Hero has A♦ J♦

UTG raises to $0.48, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.32

Flop: ($1.04, 2 players) A♣ 3♣ 3♦
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.99, Hero calls $0.99

Turn: ($3.02, 2 players) J♠
Hero checks, UTG bets $1.44, Hero calls $1.44

River: ($5.90, 2 players) T♥
Hero checks, UTG bets $2.81, Hero raises to $5.62, UTG calls $2.81

Villain is a 37/8 on >100 hands, on the zoom tables = big fish.
The postflop sample is not that huge, but I expect him to play really honest with WwsF/WTSD/WSD: 30/15/40
I don't expect KQ in his river range, so just Ax Hands. Maybe raise Turn to get it in on the river vs AQ/AK is the best line? I minraised river, because of his low WTSD, dont want to fold him out hands like AQ,Ax.

#2
PokerStars - $0.16 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
BTN: $16.08
SB: $17.33
BB: $23.47
Hero (UTG): $16.74
MP: $24.30
CO: $16.00

SB posts SB $0.08, BB posts BB $0.16

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.24) Hero has Q♦ Q♣

Hero raises to $0.48, fold, CO calls $0.48, fold, fold, BB raises to $0.80, Hero calls $0.32, CO calls $0.32

Flop: ($2.48, 3 players) J♦ 9♥ 6♣
BB bets $0.80, Hero calls $0.80, CO calls $0.80

Turn: ($4.88, 3 players) 2♦
BB bets $2.33, Hero calls $2.33, CO calls $2.33

River: ($11.87, 3 players) K♣
BB bets $5.67, fold, fold,

No sample on villain, but I expect him to be a rec, because of playing just 1 table + his squeeze sizing preflop.
Don't want to bring it in pre vs his KK+,AK. Often I see exactly this range, when I 4bet/broke vs his min squeeze, so I decided to just call. Maybe 4bet should be the better play to isolate the BB.
Postflop on the river I decided to fold. Rec players do not bluff enough and with 2 players behind BB holds nearly everytime a strong hand on the river. What's your line (also Pre) with knowing BB is a rec player, but without any other reads?

BB: €23.52

SB posts SB €0.10, BB posts BB €0.20, MP contributes €0.02 to the Bad Beat Jackpot, SB contributes €0.02 to the Bad Beat Jackpot

Pre Flop: (pot: €0.30) Hero has T♦ T♥

Hero raises to €0.60, MP calls €0.60, CO calls €0.60, fold, fold, fold

Flop: (€2.10, 3 players) 9♦ T♠ 3♣

Turn: (€4.70, 2 players) 8♥
Hero bets €2.80, MP calls €2.80

River: (€10.30, 2 players) Q♥
Hero checks, MP bets €6.40, ...

No more stats, because of an anonymous table, but villain is a rec player limping and so on.
Turn and river suck a little bit, 1xJTs, 3xJ9s, 4xKJs, 3xQJs, 6xJJ, maybe sometimes AJ, (= ~20x) vs. 3x99, 3x33, 1xQTs, 3x some other combos (88,T9,98,...) (=~10x). So if villain valuebets here the assumed combos it's an easy call, what do you think about the average rec player? Clear call? Or do you wanna overfold vs rec (TT and QQ are the strongest holdings (+blocking some of his Jx combos) in my check range on that river)?

1st hand

Spoiler

Villain is 26/10/4 especially preflop very passive. He´s not very good postflop as well but not terrible fish. We have more history together from NL10 fast in past, not from NL50. I think he should think about me as about tight and average agro or maybe more on passive side player.

After his small 4bet I believe he has KK+ close to 100 % and call is a mistake I guess.

OTF I´m in x/f mode but after his x/b I believe his range is KK most likely and maybe slowplayed AA time to time so I decide to turn my hand to bluff with intention to bet T and R. T is good card I think since it reduce his AA to 1 combo. Not sure if it´s not too ambitious (he showed me his hand so I add it into the spoiler)?

Spoiler

Here it´s example how I´m not sure how to play against weird stack size. I have no info about player but I think I can assume he´s not regular given his stack. Is it OK to shove the flop? I think with a read that he´s passive fish some very small bets can be option too (for this value and cheap price to see additional cards)

Here I´m not sure about flop play. BTN is 55/12 after 34 hands and SB 27/3 after 37 hands. Check is my default play HU against regular here to protect my checking range but with weaker players maybe cbet for thin value and protection is better?
Also against 2 regs is it better to check or bet to not give a free card to two ranges?

Spoiler

No info about player but given his stack I think he is probably not reg. Not sure about turn play, 3bet OTT is pretty strong play on the other side his sizing is pretty low on such wet board which doesn´t look very strong. Is it OK to call it? I don´t feel comfortable to do it with such vulnarable hand which can be already dead but price is too good and recreational player can have some strange lines here.

As played against something like 0,5x bet OTR it would be fold?

I think the best option would have been a 2nd barrel on the turn. Again about half Pot. It's more like a protection bet, because after the flop you are ahead of his range I think. You make it small, which gives him the opportunity to float. After your check two things will happen: His floats rape you, because it looks like you are X/F huge chunks of your value range here and he might be betting for free SD with AJ or so. TJs (1combo) T9s (2 combos), TT (1combo) and JJ (3combos) are the only hands that beat you, I think. Maybe he also plays 33 like this (3 combos). So its 10 combos of hands that beat you and just slightly less value combos that you have beat but if they bet you fold, like QJs (1 combo), KJs(3combos) AJs (3 combos) . Additionally he should have hands like KQs, AQs, AKs, 89s in his floating range.

Hand 4)
This hand happened 2 months ago and I think today I would play it differently. BTN is unknown and we both are deep (actually that seems weird, but let's just go with it). Preflop and Flop are standard, I guess. Deepstacked we could also think about a X/R on the flop. Today I would bigger on the turn - Something like 2.2$. On the river I try to be tricky and induce a raise. Again, today I would usually prefer betting big right away. About 4.6$ would be my standard. I think 2-pair+ will call me anyway.

On this stakes being raised on the turn is never a good sign, if you don't have the nuts. I think villain will never do it as a bluff. And it makes no sense to do it with boats. Actually nothing makes sense. I think shoving should be fine.

Villain seems to be a little bit aggro and I try to go for thin value on the river. Sometimes he will call with weaker Ax, but I think we won't be ahead over 50% of the time and villain does not have any bluffs here. So we have a very easy X/f on the river I think.

This hand was quite exciting because I play zoom and I close table when I am more than 130 deep because I didnt analyze these spots. This hand occured before I got to big blind so thats why I m so deep. I think that F and T are standard. I played R by x/c because we are so deep and if he shoved I would have to fold even this hand I guess. I asnt worried on the F a T about raise because it doesnt amke too much sense from villain perspective he is IP and board is dry

MP is 19/15 after 50 hands. No info about BB. My standard play would be flat after MP´s 3bet. I´m not so afraid about BB but I expect quite narrow range at MP. I don´t want to call and face 4bet from MP or 4bet myself which would isolate me to KK+ too often vs MP. So is it OK to fold here?

2nd hand

Spoiler

UTG is 24/6 after 60 hands
BTN is a nit 13/9 after 310 hands

PF I 3bet because of his 2bb open. I would flat vs 3bb. My sizing should be slightly higher I guess.

I think flop bet is OK but I´m not sure about turn? BTN should have pretty strong range even PF and on the flop I was beting to two people which looks quite strong so I don´t see many worse hands calling except a few FDs.

3rd hand

Spoiler

BTN is 22/18/4 after 689. Not enough sample for position stats. Is it OK to exploit. fold OTR? Not sure if he bets here JJ for value and it´s hard to imagine for me that he will bluff here enough often.
