Hero (SB): $2.35 (117.5 bb)
BB: $2.06 (103 bb)
UTG: $3.81 (190.5 bb)
MP: $1.19 (59.5 bb)
CO: $2.12 (106 bb)
BTN: $3.95 (197.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K K
UTG raises to $0.06, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.20, BB folds, UTG calls $0.14

Flop: ($0.42) 7 8 T (2 players)
Hero bets $0.30, UTG raises to $0.60, Hero ???

Villain is unknown (38/38, 13 hands).
How should we react to a min raise on the flop? I think villain is not opening J9 very often. The board is draw heavy. Min raise looks like villain wants me to call, he might have a set. I had a very similar hand except the flop was rainbow, I had AA and villain min raised me with QQ.

I'm calling, but I'm happy to check/fold lots of turns. Can't fold an overpair for that price but we're not ahead of much. It could be that he's doing this with JJ, going "hur dur I has an overpair" but 87s, TT are also well in his range.

EDIT: actually I misread the hand, thought villain was OOP. His range is wider than this.

If he had a set or 2p he would've raised bigger. Many players do this with fd, pair+draw or combo draw.

Either a strong made hand or a draw ought to raise bigger here (I mean, a draw could be played passively, but if it's raised at all, it should be bigger). If this looks like anything, it would be an attempt to get thin value with a mediocre made hand like an overpair. However, it's NL2, those guys love to underplay their sets. And sometimes a min raise is a pure bluff. As said, you can't fold at those odds so just call it. Likely enough he'll minbet turn and river in which case you can just take the showdown. Alternatively at some point he'll wake up and make a PSB (or overbet) in which case you have an easy fold.

In this case I shoved and villain had 77. This is NL2 and villain can have a lot of hands, I knew that set is a possibility. I thought I'm ahead often enough and villain will make a mistake and call with his 2pair, draws and pair+draw hands. What do you think about shove? Calling otf and folding to a big bet on later streets is better?

How would it be a mistake for him to call with 2pair? When you shove villain has to pay $1.55 for a pot of $3.17, which is slightly better than 1:2, which means it would also not be a mistake for him to call with a FD or 99, yet alone with a combo draw. The advantage from your point of view is that you then charge him the maximum possible for his next card, although unfortunately you also have to offer a "two for the price of one" deal. He will also obviously call with a set. On the other hand, he will fold all 1 pair hands, which are hands you would like to get value from. You would need to count all the draws, monsters and weak made hands in his range to be sure, but I can't see shove being +EV.

I don't like shoving because it isolates against good hands. Only QQ/JJ could call, but probably wouldn't. But AA would probably call. Also, as pointed out, decent draws can and will call correctly, leaving no opportunity for villain to make many mistakes. Calling with two pair is a decent bluff catch on his part (and stronger than AA, but there is some sort of psychological effect with AA making it look stronger than it is:) ).

First of all: do you always cbet 3/4 of pot on a 3-bet pot, or only when you have overpair? I think it's okay versus random players on Nl2, but regs could abuse you if you are this unbalanced. And in general, I think betting smaller leaves more room to villain make errors.

On this kind of board I think I would call and see the turn. Min-raise can be nuts, but nuts can be for these guys like AT, JJ, QQ, AQ spades.. So there should be more hands than just sets and str8s.

I usually cbet 1/2pot in 3bet pots. I guess here I wanted to protect my hand vs FD and Ax hands and villain is unknown and this is nl2 so no necessarily need to play balanced.

Actually I knew that you are not balanced, I had reads on Stars ;D! But yeah you are right, versus some random fishy villain it's okay to go 3/4 for value and close to 1/2 pot for bluffs. On the contrary, sometimes you can even get better results by betting a bit over 1/2 pot versus anyone, coz it's easier to call and some people might think that you are weak (when you are not!)

On this board smth like 2/3 could be the optimal sizing - the A isn't that likely and it's not too likely that he has exactly 2 spades here. We wan't to keep his range as wide as possible.

Shoving id burning money on flop as we will get a call ftom hands that beat us or have enough equity vs us.
I like the 60% bet in this spot.

Yea, I didn't think this thru properly. Probably a result of tiredness and lack of concentration.
