He is a regular, probably even a winning player.

I'm totally puzzled, don't understand at all his river "bluff" with TPTK; but it almost worked. Heck, even after seeing his cards I doubt of my call lol

For sure he did not put you on a range.... (that was his mistake bc flop call was horbile)
Your River betting size looks small compared to the pot and your stacks... so my guess is that you induced a bluff there.
Always call when you induce... so it's fine call!

He has the Ad and you checked back turn -> you don't have a flush. He decided he can't really call because you have KTs/KJs/AQ sometimes and shoved against your capped range without thinking too much about what he is repping.

I'm NL5/NL10 player so don't know NL25 game but I'll give my opinion. Regarding that hand until river I'll put him on a week draw hand, he could go broke with NFD on flop. I don't think he would slowplayed his overpairs, 2Pairs, sets on this drawy bord. Villain river play is very weird to me, if he has draw and complete it on river I think he would lead river so his x/r is oddish. Personally, I would fold with bottom set if I don't have any reads.
As played, I would bet turn after he check again, and go broke if he raise, then ship it on river if he just call.

He's ahead of your checking back range(mostly 1pairish hands), but behind your betting range on the river, so he's turning his hand into a bluff /w the nutblocker.

His b/call on flop is very standard w. the odds he is getting w. nut gtsht nut bdfd. Sure he can rep. flushes on the river, why not? Hero is capped on two pair, set or straight after x/back turn. So villain should go x/R w. flushes and include some bluffs.

I think hero can fold a set of fours since we might have AQ and we just run into flush a ton here, not expecting to see bluffs like this at 25nl a lot espc. FR.

Sick hand man... I must agree with you that I actually think this is a fold. His call on the flop is pretty ridiculous imo... he raises UTG, cbets 3w and you raise his 3b... what does he want with a gutshot? As played, I think his c/ship on the river is pretty awesome though :f_biggrin: It sucks, but I actually think this should be a fold. He only reps a flush here. Any set should be leading on the river after you check back. We can't expect him to have AQ, because he shouldnt be calling AQ and AK on the flop. So when he b/c flop, he's got overpair, flush draw, or 2p. The only hands he could turn into a bluff in this situation are QQ and AA, the rest of the time he's got it. So I agree with you, when you say you doubt your call, even after seeing his cars, haha =) I think we're beat a lot here

He has 4 outs to nuts + all backdoor nut flush outs + sometimes overcards alive so I would not say his flop call is ridiculous by any means. And implied odds are very high for villain if he expects hero to be on a very strong raising range (if he hits the gutshot he gets it in vs. a set).... Wp by villain

pretty standard, but would rather bet river than xr unless i have the clear read that u do make that vbet since everyone is just passive as fuck. and if u make it 8$ otr and he has to jam for 20$ it might start to get a little too sketchy for some. he probably didn't have this planned and just realized he could do this when u bet that size lol. and yeah calling it off probably burns money vs 95%+ of nl25 fr regs.

Read through your blog, impressive stuff! How many tables do you play and what h/h does that give you? How are you doing on NL10 so far?

Regarding the hand:

Thanks for your comments, and yes, my conclusions are that a) I should've betted the river a bit bigger since my betsize was weird / bluff-inducing and b) in this level river was probably a fold, but:

- If he had a flush (the only hand that made some sense), why wouldn't he bet himself on the river? As someone said, players in the level are really passive, so why "risk" my check behind (I could easily have a weak hand with SD value) with the nuts?

I play from 8 to 12 tables, depends on how focused I am (still read news or emails while playing :/ ), at least I'm aware when I'm not in my A game to play the less tables as possible.

H/hour around 500-600.

I don't see results too often! I did it with the NL5 hands because I was really curious to see my winrate after the 100k hands mark :P
I just see them weekly to update the challenge, and monthly to make decisions on my schedule.

But I feel I'm crushing NL10, I'll post another 100k hand soon, I'm probably close to the 10/bb 100 mark too, but not sure

I think/guess/hope that Stars is launching a reload bonus promo as part of the Christmas calendar...

It would be really cool if they did it on DEC. 1st: The day of the "Strike" hehe

Already cashed out like $300, waiting some days... if not then, meh, then I'll cash them out on the ATM :f_drink:

Hi Volrath,

how are you doing? Guess this is not a day of play for you tonight? If so, maybe you find some time for the weekly update for the BR challenge: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=326222&goto=firstnew

Hopefully with another crusher graph from the previous week?

Thanks for the reminder! I was really busy yesterday, didn't play a single hand or opened the poker browser (I use chrome for all poker-related stuff and firefox for the rest). Hmm already another month:

NOVEMBER RECAP
8.33 bb/100

Almost everything as expected; played the hands I wanted to play, made the expected VPPs... Hopefully December runs the same, it would be really nice to catch my last Stellar Reward before Dec. 24th hehe.

And NL25 is harder than I thought. I would say the level is comparable to 2010 - NL100; maybe a bit less, but definitely the level has a higher level than NL50 2010-2011. People already know how to play preflop, you see very few 12/1 or 20/2 nits with a lot of hands in the HUD (for me an indication that even playing that bad they can be breakeven or at least lose verly slow). They must be crushed on NL25 ... Of course you still see fish and whales, but that is true on every level...

This month I'll mix some Spin & Go with cash, really want to learn that new variant and see how it goes... I think marketing money goes towards Spins; and I think one should be where fish are ;)

GOALS FOR DECEMBER

* 2.000 VPPs
* 40.000 hands
* Hopefully mantain my WR.
* Start learning Spins (hopefully play 500 games)

i play hearthstone :)
i also do love to play arenas, but the problem is, its somtimes close to imposible to make a decent deck from those random hands. But if u are lucky enough to get nice synergy from what u are offered, then yea- u can pull those long winning streaks like u have one here. WP :f_drink:

Yes, but I think you can make a decent record with almost any combination of cards to choose from at the beginning... I used to play magic and my favorite format was, by far, limited :)

Week 13 of the bankroll challenge - NL5, 10 FR

Hands: 6986
Profit: -$8.38 ($10 from bonus; -18 at the tables lol)
Starting BR: $400
Last Week's BR: $1850.13
Current BR: $1841.75
GOAL: $4,000.00

I've decided on something... I won't be pursuing my next $50 milestone reward (and last because of the vip system changes). I'm already over 60% through it, but I've found I play really bad when my main goal and focus is to win the bonus... And I force myself to play at times when I've been programming all day and my brain is not in optimal state...

So I guess my volume will be significantly lower on December... the good news is that I almost made all the money I needed with urgency; I'll post what I buy when I purchase it ;)

On other news, did you know prob the biggest treasure ever found in history (at least $-wise) was found 2 days ago in my country? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/colombias-president-juan-manuel-santos-claims-galleon-shipwreck-with-1bn-treasure-found-a6761471.html

Now of course comes Spain saying they have "rights" in the treasure, wtf, not only did they steal our gold and f**d our gorgeous women, now they want our gold again 300 years later? If i was the president I'd say "fair enough, the ship was built in Spain, so keep the ship; the gold was mined in Colombia, so we keep the gold"

EDIT: a pic of colombian women

Spoiler
