Results:

Spoiler

$14.40 pot ($1.20 rake)
Final Board: 5 4 5 K 7
MP showed Q Q and won $13.20 ($6.25 net)
Hero mucked 6 6 and lost (-$6.95 net)

Villain was unknown and didn't notice his stack size when playing so many tables.
After playing a while I noticed that MP was a fish indeed meaning that my play here was really bad against a "calling station", but in this hand he was still unknown to me.

So lets think that I'm playing this hand against an thinking reg:

I know that on the river villain can not have 5x/44/flush because he would bet those hands ott.

So villains range is capped.

Because of the way I played this hand my range can have all the 44/5x/Kx/flushes etc. strong hands.

But my question is that what hands can I turn into a bluff here without my call/bet/bet line being always for value/strong hands.

66 is nearly in the bottom of my calling range (ill float the flop here with AT,AJ KQ with backdoor FD type hands) so I think that I could turn that hand into a bluff given that villains range is capped?

If I check my 66-TT type hands on the turn here always its easy for villains to read me and value bet me on river.

Vs a thinking player your play would be okay imo.. You are right that villain would bet turn with Kx,44,5x or FDs. Turn Kd is very good card for us to stab when villain checks and river we should bet again. When villain checks turn and river it looks like our range kicks his ranges ass and he probably won't find many hands that he can bluff catch with.

I think we should treat unknowns as potential fish and this kind of bluffs are not ok. So good move, wrong villain?

Hey Marsa,

If you were MP, how do you play your 77-QQ, because those are the hands that you are targeting with turning 66 into a bluff.

I'd feel better about turning AJhh into a bluff here, but don't take my word for it :) (NL5 player)

Yes i got a little bit mixed up about the villain here because of playing too many tables.. :f_biggrin: Going to stay with max 6 tables from now on.

As the MP I would not cbet 77 because of flop is so dry and we block most 67 hands -> then bluffcatch with it. 88-QQ I would bet/bet/bet to get value from 67/66+. Sometimes check the turn to balance like the villain did here.

But if I was the guy with QQ in this hand I would have trouble calling that bet on the river.

I think that you are right. I should turn my hands like Ax to bluff because 66 has a lot more showdown value than AJ. (66 wins AQ+AK+AJ+Ax on showdown)

I think that I had an ok idea to bluff here but I had wrong hand and wrong opponent :f_ugly: Do you agree? Or was my bluff bad here?

The bluff is bad. You should do it vs villain that can fold.
You have an opportunity to see a river for free- take it.
Note, that villain called a 2/3 bet on turn... this should ring some bells.

I would fold TT-QQ to your river bet. I don't mind this bluff.

You never have Kx here. Even if you call the flop sometimes with some Kx, it would be x back otr. With 77 you would be probably not betting the turn. So you are left with mid PP or hand like 87s, JTs, and I'm never folding TT-QQ.
Maybe hand like JTs could be a bluff here and hope he is folding hand like 66-99, AQ.

Why would you check back Kx otr?

Like VascataBuci said that he is calling otr with TT-QQ. IF we dont bet Kx hands otr we miss value. Dont be scared when the bd flush comes....

You don't have many Kx anyway.

Wait, the pot was 3way, right?

Since I am calling 66 purely to setmine I would fold on the flop right away. The problem is, that almost any Turncard is bad for us + Villains cbettingrange is way too strong (mostly better overpairs). As played you just gotta check it down. Your perceived range does not contain (m)any Kx and apart from trips (which you never have) or a flopped full house, there's not a lot that you can represent. I probably have 0 bluffs in this spot and would strongly consider playing very honest multiway, or on this limit in general without putting too much money in bluffs like these

what about an occasional KcJc that can call OTF?

If you were playing against someone who was actually paying attention to the game, I think you're play would have worked. Unfortunately plays like this don't work against fish.

Imagine that we could see this hand from villains perspective. Pretend it way him, holding TT, that posted this thread. There is no way that anyone around would recommend a call on the river. Not even those that here say they'd call. And not even me with my "balanced perspective". I'd have some Kx to defend with (besides 12 combos of JJ/QQ).

(This doesn't mean that I advocate this bluff, but it isn't hopeless.)

It's a pity OP included the call here; it would be interesting to know if anyone is being swayed by the result.

I think Yohan has it, though. I cant see "call" being the consensus if this hand were posted by the villain seeking advice. If you wouldn't call here with 88-QQ, you can't turn around and say "bad bluff".

Heck I'd float as hero here with a backdoor + gutty every time and a backdoor only other times as well. No way you can say hero cant have a flush or another suited king here.

It sucks to bluff in this hand because people in general don't fold enough. Of course we are better ( ) but that doesn't mean that everyone plays like a pokerstrategy member :f_ugly:

and what about AdJd+? I can see a call from these 5 combos actually. However, still I would find a fold yes.

AdJd is another 1combo.
