Hi. I've never been to a coaching so far. Planning to, though. So just a quick question. During live coaching does the coach tells us what cards he has so that we understand how he plays those cards or he speaks theoretically about the strategy he uses(SSS, BSS)?

Both :)

If you have a question, the coach will answer that. If there are no questions and he has got a hand - lets say Aces - he will say that and you will see the required action on your own monitor by opening FullTilt :)

Time for the review :)

First of all:

Sometimes i play a hand at the tables and dont talk about it, but in these cases i always have very easy hands to play, f.e. AA and i am in the middle of explaining sth which i do not want to interrupt. You really dont miss interesting stuff and i think you all know that you should raise AA preflop ;)

During the last coaching session I played 464 hands on NL10 and won 15ct. (yiha )
My VPIP was 5,8 and my PFR 5,6.

The biggest winning hand:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer Game#9815196901

Hero ($1.85)
BB ($3.30)
UTG ($5)
UTG+1 ($3.10)
UTG+2 ($9.15)
MP1 ($9.05)
MP2 ($2)
CO ($2)
BTN ($2.10)

Dealt to Hero A♣A♥

call, fold, fold, fold, check, BTN raises to $2.10, call, fold, fold, fold,

FLOP ($4) 7♦8♥5♦

TURN ($4) 7♦8♥5♦2♠

RIVER ($4) 7♦8♥5♦2♠2♥

BTN shows A♦Q♥
(Flop 6.4%, Turn 0.0%)

Hero shows A♣A♥
(Flop 93.6%, Turn 100.0%)

Hero wins $3.60

I have AA and someone goes all in before its my turn.....not a very difficult spot indeed

Biggest losing hand:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer Game#9814741195

SB ($10.40)
BB ($1.05)
UTG ($7.65)
UTG+1 ($3.95)
UTG+2 ($1.95)
Hero ($1.85)
MP2 ($5.55)
CO ($6.45)
BTN ($3.15)

Dealt to Hero Q♠A♥

fold, call, fold, Hero raises to $0.50, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, UTG+1 raises to $3.95, call,

FLOP ($3.85) K♠A♣9♦

TURN ($3.85) K♠A♣9♦4♦

RIVER ($3.85) K♠A♣9♦4♦8♣

UTG+1 shows K♣K♥
(Flop 97.1%, Turn 100.0%)

Hero shows Q♠A♥
(Flop 2.9%, Turn 0.0%)

UTG+1 wins $3.50

I raise a limper and get reraised by the limper. Whenever we are reraised we look at this chart: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/no-limit/822/5/#h1_5

So, lets see why i called.
With AQ we go all in if the ratio remaining stack:raise size is smaller than 4:1

In our hand our remaining stack is 1,35 and our raise size was 0,50. So the ratio is 2,7:1 , which is smaller than 4:1 and we go all in.

He shows us KK and we do not suck out.

Some of you might say that the chart is not perfect against limpraisers because they tend to have a monster. This is true, but against UNKNOWN opponents we just have to play basic sss (I still do this on nl1000 :))

Still, its important to make notes, especially on these plays. So if you saw him showing KK when limpraising you might want to fold AQ next time he limpraises you.

The same argumenation is true concerning a post in this thread "i tend to play more aggressively than ingol". Against unknown opponents it just doesnt make a lot of sense to stray away too far from the strategy.

Of course, you can sometimes bet a HU flop in an unraised pot or call a smallish riverbet if you suspect he might often be bluffing and you get good odds, but against unknown opponents its most of the time best to just play simple ABC poker, simple basic sss.

If you want to play advanced you need to pick up reads on your opponents, mostly by stats and notes.

See you tomorrow :)

To watch the coaching on ftp do I need to create an account there or can I just install the software and watch the tables without an account?

Hi guys,

As you probably noticed i missed my coaching today. I was at a chess match about 2 hours away from my home, but the way back took way more than 2 hours because of bad weather conditions .. :(

I am sorry :(

Thanks, really liked it. Was my first time on FTP and also with an english coaching.

I liked that you also talked about the surrounding stuff and not only the hands itself.

My deepest condolences for your last hand. ;)

He was ignoring my questions all the time. Horrible coaching.

Today coaching was ok, but i felt it could have been better. Some of my questions were ignored and these were topics i was having real problems with. I explained to him the problems but he just kept ignoring me. I will give him another chance, but i feel that his job as coach should be in question. ()

Anyway will turn up hopefully to the next one, we will see if it gets better... GL ingol...

Hey Hey, although i only really caught 10 minutes of the actually coaching, from what i heard Gerv was very good. He answered all the questions and handled off topic very well. Then he also had a bit off fun with us and opened up two NL2 tables which i joined (both). We had some fun and my elephant put a big old note over him saying FISH as he tried to play BSS. Three notable hands...

Number One

Preflop: Hero is SB with K :spade:, K :club: (Comment)
Gervcalls $0.02, UTG2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.04, 4 folds, Hero raises to $0.10, BB folds, UTG1 calls $0.08, MP1 calls $0.06.

Hero thinks; Yes this is my chance

Flop: ($0.32) 9 :club:, 4 :club:, T :spade: (3 players) (Comment)
Hero bets $0.24, Gerv calls $0.24, MP1 folds.

Here Thinks; Yes ive got him!!

Turn: ($0.80) J :spade: (2 players) (Comment)
Hero checks, UTG1 bets $0.30, Gerv calls $0.30.

Hero Thinks; Oh dammit you just know this luckbox has hit as straight

River: ($1.40) 6  (2 players) (Comment)
Hero checks, Gerv checks.

Final Pot: $1.40

Results follow (highlight to see):
Hero shows a pair of kings (Ks Kc)
Gerv shows a pair of jacks (Jh Kd)

Hero wins with a pair of kings (Ks Kc)

Hero Thinks; Lol, Fish.

NEXT!

Number Two

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A :spade:, 8 :spade:(Comment)
UTG2 folds, MP1 calls $0.02, Hero calls $0.02, MP3 folds, Gerv calls $0.02, 2 folds, BB checks.

Hero Thinks; Yh lets do al little limpin!!

Flop: ($0.09) A , K :diamond:, 7 :spade:(4 players) (Comment)
BB checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets $0.06, Gervcalls $0.06, BB folds, MP1 calls $0.06.

Hero Thinks; I like this flop, im usually ahead!!

Turn: ($0.27) 4 :club: (3 players) (Comment)
MP1 checks, Hero bets $0.20, Gervcalls $0.20, MP1 folds.

Hero Thinks; Ha he calls again... he better not have a good hand

River: ($0.67) 6 :club: (2 players) (Comment)
Hero bets $0.50, Gerv calls $0.50.

Final Pot: $1.67

Results follow (highlight to see):
Hero shows a pair of aces (As 8s)
Gerv shows a pair of kings (5c Ks)

Hero wins with a pair of aces (As 8s)

Hero Thinks; Lol fish... i think i got value there!

So that was good but then he got me back which wasnt to good.

Number Three

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A , 8 :club: (Comment)
UTG2 folds, Hero calls $0.02, MP2 folds, Gerv raises to $0.10, 4 folds, Hero calls $0.08.

Hero Thinks; Yh some more limping, haha he raises. hes a fish so i will call!

Flop: ($0.23) J , 8 , K :club:(2 players) (Comment)
Hero bets $0.20,Gerv calls $0.20.

Hero Thinks; Ha donkage.. no wait he calls. He might be bluffin i dunno

Turn: ($0.63) 4 :diamond:(2 players) (Comment)
Hero checks, Gerv bets $0.25, Hero calls $0.25.

Hero Thinks; Lets try and get away with a check.. ah dam he bet. Hmm so small i might as well cal just incase he is bluffing!

River: ($1.13) 6 :diamond: (2 players) (Comment)
Hero checks, Gerv bets $2.00, Hero folds, MP3 gets uncalled bet back.

Hero Thinks; Well i suppose hes got me... I bet hes bluffing oh well.

Final Pot: $1.13

Results follow (highlight to see):
Gerv shows a pair of kings (Kd 7h)

Gerv wins with a pair of kings (Kd 7h)

Hero Thinks; Good read.. he had me beat obv!

So that was our little match i think i came out ahead against him but in the session i only finished 12 cents up but i think that he finished like 30 cents up. (dam fish)

Apart from that we just flamed random fish from isreal i think lols! Anyway good fun and good coaching Gerv.

Btw this is at 643 words so worth $1?

Thanks. (By the way, much better than Ingol ;) )
