Goal-Getter Promotion: Now I see that my goals should have been for January 5-February 29 period, but I set my goals only for January. So, the two goals for February will be the same: another 80k hands, and 2 self improvement books. ♠_biggrin:
January was an awesome, productive month: completed both my Goal Getter goals!, played 114 hours(biggest volume in the last two years), very little procrastination, took opportunities, treated poker like a pro, reviewed all my marked hands, used session goals, daily plans, reviewed my days, rarely overslept(but still started playing late). Two things that didn't went so well: still bad spending habits and I didn't concentrate as much as I should have on healthy eating!
Summary of Dianna Booher's Creating Personal Presence: Look, Talk, Think and Act Like a Leader book:

"Personal presence may be difficult to define, but we all know it when we see it. Someone walks into the room and people step aside. Heads turn. Conversation opens up to include them. When they speak, people applaud or chime in. When they ask, people answer. When they lead, people follow. When they leave, things wind down."
The book contains 4 parts:
1. "How You Look" covers the physical aspects of your presence.
2. "How You Talk" describes powerful word usage in conversation.
3. "How You Think" describes how to control your thoughts, reactions, and emotions.
4. "How to Act" deals with the attitudes, habits, and behaviors that impact your credibility.
Most important ideas, that I memorized:
People quickly develop a first impression about you and that is really hard to change. First impression is like first love, you rarely forget it.
Either you like it or not people take important decisions based on how you are dressed.
Leaders, with strong personal presence don't stand aside and watch things happen, they stand in the center and make things happen.
Use pauses when you talk. A pause means that "the next words are important, pay attention!"
Gestures aren't optional! People with high personal presence feel what they say, and those feeling are expressed through body language.
Passion creates personal presence!
If you body language says one thing and your words something different, then your body language will give you away.
Get rid of your bad, loser body language, replace it with a confident one. Why? Look like a leader, if you want to feel like a leader.
Adjectives and adverbs express opinions, so invites other to counterargument you. Substantives and verbs express facts. Verbs motivate, convince and solicit action.
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."
Your voice's inflections, tonality, intensity, rhythm, pauses and volume can be a very powerful tool for conversation control.
If you loose control of your emotions it can negatively affect your relationships and reputation. People with strong personal presence learn how to control their emotions and know when and how to express themselves.
Weak people run from responsibilities, strong people accept them.
"The secret of being a bore is to tell everything(Voltaire)." Be clear and concise!
"Talk to a man about himself and he will listen for hours(Benjamin Disraeli)" What's the magic here? He or she will consider you to be a remarkable person. When you listen to other, you become more agreeable. If you are considered agreeable, you gain more credibility and trust.
People with strong personal presence keep their promises.
Everybody makes mistakes. The way you correct them makes the difference between the winners and losers.
This book was one of the easiest books I've read. Every information was clear and expressed shortly, it required very little effort to understand everything. It covered some topics, which I never read about and it give me a clear image on what I need to work on.
