Day 4 combos – Task 6

How many combos are there in the range of QJo+?

IMO there is just one hand: OJo.
The spoiler gives an other answer.

Because:
First:

Day 4 combos – Task 1

As usual, let's start with a recap from the previous day :f_cool:
How many KTo+ are possible?

This notation (KTo+) gives the highest ranked card first and the lowest kicker next. In each following hand the high card will remain the same but the kicker will be one rank higher. This repeats itself till the kicker reaches the value of the high card: e.g. AJo+ = AJo AQo AKo.
The notation KTo+ describes off-suited hands King-high Ten up to and with KQo

Second:

Day 3 combos – Task 16

Let's try another range :f_smile:
How many combos of 67o+ are possible?

This notation (67o) gives the lowest ranked card first and its higher adjacent neighbour second. In each following hand the first card will be one rank higher than the one in the previous hand. The second card must be one rank higher than the one in the preceding hand. This repeats itself until the second card is an ace. However: in writing the given sequence out the higher card will come first. E.g. JQo = QJo KQo AKo.
The notation 67o describes off-suited contecting hands from 76 up to and with AK.

if the cards are direct neighbours the + means that you will count up both cards:
45s+ (or 54s+) => 45s, 56s, 67s....

if the cards are not direct neighbours, the + indicates that you only count the smaller card up until it is one less than the bigger card.
95s+ (or 59s+) => 95s, 96s, 97s and 98s

Yes, this is counter intuitive, but we gotta live with this - it's the poker industry standard and we are not going to confuse you by changing it.

Train for 20 minutes each day, and in a week no-one will be able to fool your sense of fold equity!

Understanding fold equity – Overview

The frequency of your opponents' folds is arguably one of the most important assessments for you to make at poker tables.

Overall, fold equity depends on a number of factors:

  • Strength of your own range -> The better it fits the board, the more reliable is your bluff.
  • The probability of your opponent to hit a playable combination.
  • Your opponent's game plan and the frequency of their bluff with weaker hands.
  • General assessments regarding board structures which can cause "leveling wars".
  • Auto-profit break even points for different bet sizes.

Here I place this learning course that will help you better understand and assess fold equity. Each day of the week, you'll be given 30 tasks to train your skills. Their difficulty will gradually increase from day to day. You'll notice how much your intuition will has improved after this course, and you'll be able to instantly and clearly figure out if you have 30% or 60% fold equity in a particular spot!

I also prepared this introductory video in which I explained how you should approach these questions:

ATTENTION!
Please post if you'll like it or simply say "I'll try!" here in this opening thread.

So please post there:
"I'll try!" – if you've decided to participate in this coaching.
"I've finished Day X" – as soon as you've completed all tasks for the corresponding day!

Of course, you are also free to leave feedback about this project, so that we could improve it further.

Where do you stand in the crowd of PokerStrategists? For every task, when you attempt it first, give the post a Like if you got it right or a Dislike if you had it wrong.
= got it right in the first try
= got it wrong in the first try

il try
