Hey, there!

This seems like harsh story. I hope You will succeed in getting back You money!
Do you have updates for this case?

Hi Everybody,
please give me some time and I will translate every important thing to english. I've got mails from Ombudsman and from Neteller!
Thank you if you are still here!

good thing you're keeping your cool, hope you got some good news from the regulator! Also, thank you for telling us your story- I'll definitely not use Neteller after this.

Hello Everybody,
You know my english is not the best but I hope you will understand me! A lot of thing happened … I try to summarize every important fact.
To understand what I don't understand, it is important to know my name: Jozsef Istvan Kovacs. So...

I’ve got an answer for my complaint from Ombudsman...

...Neteller wrote them the following:
We reviewed Jozsef Istvan Kovacs’s account and diagnose the following:
1. On the passport wasn't signature and all the passport seemed as it is not real, there wasn't hologram.
2. Happened that someone else , one Jozsef Istvan Kovacs used the same computer to sing in to his N account.
3. So we closed the account and we will send back the funds to him. We will inform him how he will get back the ammount.

...and the Ombudsman concluded:
N has right, it is normal that they closed your account and it is normal that they won't send you the money until they make the review. I know you are disappointed and am sorry for this, but I hope you will understand everything now.
If you are not satishfied with the decision, please let me know until 29.01.2013 and send me every other proof what you have. If you won't write me until this time, I will close your case.

Of course this letter was longer and it is in hungarian language. That's why I translated only the most important facts.

I few hours later I've got the letter from N (this is the copy of the whole letter):
"Re: Account No: 450624601161 – Final Response - Update

Dear Mr Kovacs,
Further to our letter of November 2012, I wish to provide you with a final update on your account.
As you were advised at the time, Optimal Payments took the decision to close your account as we were unable to validate your identity. This decision remains our final position.
Regarding the remaining funds on your account, these have been returned to the merchants that transferred the funds. I would request that you contact them directly to discuss accessing these funds. Should you require a list of these merchants, please advise accordingly.

Yours sincerely
Blair Halliday
Senior Compliance Manager"

I answered to the Ombudsman, because I don't understand some points of their letter. I wrote it in hungarian language, so I can't copy it here. But I translate the most important:

Dear Ombudsman ,
Thank you for your informations. Now I have some new infos. Because of a review I'm agree with the closing of the account - for a few days. But in 8 months almost a baby is born.
I knew that N had problems with my identity - but that's all what they told me. They never asked me to send other documents and they said that they won't send me back the money. (Maybe you can remember:No service, no references!)
I don't understand what N is saying! I have never sent them my passport. I sent them my ID card and an electricity bill. And I used my N account for months before they closed it. I was in "Verified" status. So?
I really really don't understand the 2. point!(see above) My name is Jozsef Istvan Kovacs. Kovacs is one of the most frequent surname in Hungary. And Jozsef and Istvan is really frequent. N should check also my mother's name and my date of birth. It seems like N mixed my documents with someone else's documents and I was the victim of their bad and poor working. And it seems like they punish me because there is so many people in Hungary with the same name.
Of course I never want to use N again and if N will send back my money I will be satisfied.
I understand everything about the KYC (Know Your Customer) process, but it was more than 8 months and I am sure that if I don't ask your help, Neteller never send me back the money. And it is really frustrating that it could happen!
Do you think it is a normal way that N close someone's account and keeps his/her money - without to tell anything? Can N do this without a court order? Is it good and normal? I don't think so.
I am so curious for the answers!

Thank you for you help! I will let you when I will get back the money!
Best regards:
Jozsef Istvan Kovacs

Until now Ombudsman didn't answer me this letter.

Finally...
With N I'm still "online" by mails, because I still don't have all the money. First I had to ask the list where they sent the funds. I wrote mails the merchants and to N more time and finally I really got back 728,21 euro but I still missing 56,04 euro. I wrote last time to N today morning, because the merchant where they want to send the rest ammount doesn't know nothing about my case. Until this no answer, and no 56,04euro. But I hope it will be alright too.
Otherwise first Neteller told me that they sent back 250 + 478,21 euro. Maybe they thought I can't count. This is not the whole ammount. They were talking about the rest of money after I asked them. And the match is still going on about this...

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this?

Congrats on most of the funds return ! Looks like this one is one of those cases when country Ombudsman gives really significant authority.

I'm glad to see that the Ombudsman eventually did something useful. In summary Neteller were unable to verify your identity ( they didn't try very hard) and they probably confused you with someone else. So, they closed your account and sent your money back to the merchants that processed your initial transactions without even telling you what was going on!

Bad customer service all round, the regulator should do a thorough investigation into what actually happened and then slap them with a massive
FINE so that they don't do such underhand things in the future.

so happy you got most of the funds back. this is great so you can endure it and move on. next time just be careful. if neteller gets any negative stuff then ban or lock account. thats how they do.

Bonjour,

Hey 99Skills,

Unfortunately there is little we can do to help. Your best course of action would be to try and maintain a dialogue with their support.

If possible, try phoning them as this often gets faster results.

Regards

Laz
