Hi Everyone,

I noticed in the last 2 days that I have some trouble playing 4 tables. I have therefore decided to make a more in depth approach but would like to ask your opinion whether this isn't too soon to establish the following conclusions:

- Most optimal days
- Most optimal amount of hands
- Most optimal time to play

See a snapshot I have made so far below.

I will keep it updated each month. Opinions and suggestions are very much appreciated! :)

Cheers,

Hesticus :f_drink:

sample is way, way waaaaaaay to small to make any conclusions based on it. The earlier in the day you play, the more fit you are and thus likely to put up your A-game. If the games aren't soft however, it still might be more +EV at a later point when the games are softer. Weekends are always softer than weekdays, generally. :f_thumbsup:

Thanks Vonki :f_drink:

I will just keep track of this file and not yet adapt to any of the observations we can make from this. It may be better to use it as a guideline. Now I am in Thailand and my mental state could change when I would go back to Europe. In addition, games may be softer during other times in EU than in Asia.

Cheers,

Hesticus

I try to experiment with 4 tables. However, the results show that I am not yet up for this one. At least not in such way that I will can build up my mental stamina. The last 2 days I was playing 3 tables in which I finally went to profit again. I try to play the first 15 minutes first, then I increase every time a little bit. However, this system isn't really working for me. Therefore, I will try this week to work on my stamina. That is, I will increase the amount of hands steadily. I do want to keep trying to add an extra table for short periods of time but not too long. I keep track on my mental state when I feel good and will try to increase my stamina like this. That is, 250 hands per session is a minimum. I can also see that this works for sure. However, to increase the volume I would need to either play longer sessions or add another table (for a short period of time). I will add this table only when I feel mentally optimal. I will try to increase the amount of hands every 3 days by 25. When I play a 4th table, I will decrease the amount by 25 and see how this goes. Let's hope for the best because my first short-term goal is almost down the corner :f_thumbsup:

Side Challenge
This volume increase is a great opportunity to work in lieu with the side challenge Vonki initiated :f_thumbsup: I think it's a great way for most players to find out what works best. If you are struggling with volume as well or maybe discipline or any other mental thing, I can definitely recommend you to have a look what Vonki has to offer :) You do not need to sign up or say you participate. You can also do it for yourself and try to keep up with the volume. In any case, good luck should you be interested! :f_thumbsup:

no, 3betting JJ from blinds vs UTG is probably never ideal. UTG usually has a tight range and will always have position, making it very hard for you to play your hand optimally post flop and extract value (it's always hard to extract value with a medium strong hand vs a pretty strong range). :f_thumbsup:

Thoughts

My bankroll is now over $126 :f_drink: I finally have my mental game well-structured. As my short-term goals in my Dropbox indicate, I will start up tomorrow 1 5NL table and see how it goes :f_thumbsup:

In addition, I have been keeping records of the variance and so far I see that things go pretty fair. However, one thing I noticed, in which I think every poker player has to cope with, is the following:

Although we win more when we are favourable and lose more when we are unfavourable; we do lose more while being favourable than win while being unfavourable. :f_ugly:

Here's a snapshot from what I mean :f_biggrin: Notice the table under 'Score'.

Spoiler

As a final thought, one goal I will have during NL5 is to work on my 3Betting and defending 3Betting. I have a feeling I would need to master this before I go to NL10 :f_biggrin:

Cheers,

Hesticus :f_drink:

I don't think "spamming" the forums is a big problem. If you include updates about volume and results and hands, thats the type of things readers love :) Daily updates with too much text usually doesn't get read though.

Congrats on reaching your volume target! :f_thumbsup: you beat me to it :f_biggrin:

Yes, I agree with that. It is a bit misplaced to call it spamming here as this is just blogging. Thanks Vonki but I surely would need to focus on job search as well tomorrow :f_biggrin: Those short-term goals always

BB Play

So the BB play I have to do something radically different I believe. Right now my opening hands on BB vs SB is something like this:

My 3B is something like this:

What shall I change here? Call less wide or 3bet more wide? Or a combination ofboth? Or something totally different?

Yeah, the king-high flush was pretty nasty and I think I had a good read here on villain but I am not 100% sure. It's quite the extreme situation I must say :f_biggrin:

The KQ is def a call with the flush, we only need to be ahead like 1/5 times to break even, if it's a huuuuge shove for like 150bb or something it might be a better fold!

JJ vs a check/shove seem a bit optimistic, he will play KK, AA, AQdd, AKdd this way at best. Run the numbers and I'm sure you'll see you're not necessarily doing that great.

QJo seems missplayed, keep initiative yourself in 3way pots with top pair. Just bet yourself. This river isn't really the best one but with your line, you only get called by better hands (AQ, KQ comes to mind + flushes).

JJ is also a bad call on the river. If we face a raise on the turn, baluga theorem applies. facing a raise ON THE RIVER, we basically hate our life even if we have a weak 2p imo.

Well done last week though! :) Mistakes will happen ofc. Just learn from it!
