$10,000 Journey - Party Time!!!

I had lots going on these last few days including a stag party and a national holiday. Add that to the fact that heads up poker is a dying brand and we have not enough volume!!! Also got loads more parties etc in next few weeks to go to!!!

Poker Results (4days)

Profit = +$74
Hours = 4.75
Hands = 1594

Graph

Again Skypoker went well so the graph is somewhat meaningless!

$10,000 Journey

Just crept back above the $4,000 profit mark again after a slight dip.

I have got a little bit of rake back that I will cash in at the end of this month too so that will push me a bit higher above the $4,000 mark - hopefully never to drop below it again!!!

I have also had to withdraw $1650 from my roll this week to pay the balance off on our second family holiday of the year (78 sleeps to go come on!). That means NL100 should be a no-go area for me for some time to come. I can see me still opening a couple of tables at my favorite sites and super-bum hunting though!

Running Good...

Poker is so much easier when hands run out like this!

Understanding that it can go both ways and how equity works is what really counts!!! Otherwise you go mad! ;)

Other Stuff - aka Party Time!!!

Went to a fantastic stag and hen party (combined) on Saturday! Blasted out a couple of (dreadful) songs on the karaoke, had a few too many beers and just had a great laugh all round.

The hens turned up halfway through our drinking session and they all had face masks of the stag on. I honestly did not stop laughing for the next 4 or 5 hours!!!

I had to walk home in complete darkness (2.00) and, due to alcohol induced courage, took a shortcut through the local cemetery. Every now and then a bird would suddenly fly off and scare the living life out of me. I showed no courage whatsoever! :)

Had a great couple of days with my family, nice pizza at a restaurant, Helen did a great barbeque and we also took our daughter (7) to try out Wing Chun Kung Fu and she totally loved it and she looks a bit of a natural to me (well, that’s dads for you I guess!).

I/we have got so many exciting things coming up over the next few months it will be holiday time before I know it! We have got two weddings, a 5th birthday party (son!), a 40th birthday party, a 50th birthday party, daughter’s dance show - the list is endless. In fact I am going to need 10bb/100 and some rakeback to fund it all!!!! ;)

Have a fantastic couple of days amigos, will summarise May next time…

Chris. :)

Summary for May 2016 - Fantastic Month!!!

May really was a fantastic month! Poker went well, health, weight and fitness went well, and I had some really great days and nights out too…

Fitness, Weight & Health

As you will read below it has been a month that was ill designed for self preservation!!!

I am very pleased overall with the progress made in May, or should I say - I am happy that any progress was made at all as it could have been a month of going backwards.

Weight

I bypassed the “one stone lost” mark this month and (just about) managed to stay there.

Here is the graph since I started back at training and watching my weight just over two months ago...

So I lost 3.5 pounds in May and have lost 15.75 pounds over the two months. I am counting that as a huge win!

To get to my target (12 stone 10 pounds) I need to lose another 8 pounds and looking at the party agenda for June I am not entirely optimistic! Never say never though!!!

Fitness

I started doing squats this month to add to my push-ups for strength training. I found it really tough to increase my amount of push-ups and somebody suggested this might be due to losing weight (possibly losing muscle).

I also did a few jump rope/skipping sessions but not as many as I would like.

I have found it tough to stick to a training routine for these things and I am not sure whether it is just being demotivated by lack of results or if some of it is due to parties and some due to doing some squats and push-ups at Kung Fu.

In June I will make it a priority to make a plan for which days I will do strength training and cardio work and then fit it around my Wing Chun Kung Fu classes.

Martial Arts

This was my first full month of training in Wing Chun Kung Fu. It is totally different to my previous training in Tae Kwon Do and so far I think I enjoy Wing Chun even more than I enjoyed TKD! That is really saying something!

I had a meeting/chat with the UK Director of my Wing Chun organisation about becoming an instructor over the long term. I am still thinking this over. I am only motivated to do it because teaching is a vital part of mastering anything (my opinion). I cannot find any motivation to do it from a financial perspective. I will continue to train and see where fate takes me on that one!

My daughter (7) has also attended a free class and she is desperate to go back! She seems to be a bit of a natural at it to me!

Poker

After April’s mediocre month it was great to get back to winning ways again. Let’s look at some numbers…

Poker Results (Month)

Total Profit = +$741
Hourly Profit = +$13.15/hour

Hours played = 56.33
Hands played = 15,800

Hours played was low even by my standards. Usually I would like to get 70+ hours of play in but I had a lot of partying to do!!!

Poker Graphs (Tracked Hands Only)

Heads-Up & 6 Max Combined

Heads-Up Only

6 Max Only

I cashed in $100 of rake back and won around £150 at Sky Poker.

$10,000 Journey

This was a fantastic month in terms of getting back on track in my journey to make $10,000 profit at the poker tables...

In May I finally broke through the $4,000 profit barrier. I need to get the volume back up and try to keep a decent win rate going so I can aim for the halfway mark of $5,000 next!!

Biggest Pots Of The Month

Biggest Pot Won

This is a hand we have seen before which kind of plays itself…

Biggest Pot Lost

This is unbelievable…

I remember playing this hand earlier in the month. Villain was pushing me around but it was not a big sample so he could have just been running good.

I should fold turn and DEFINITELY should fold river.

It is when I see hands like this that I realise how much I struggle to focus and not tilt especially late in the day. It is really terribly played by me.

Other Stuff (mostly involving beer!)

We had a couple of national holidays in the UK this month which always spells disaster for any health and fitness goals!

I went on an all day drinking session with my best mate who I only see a couple of times a year - messy!

I went to the most fantastic, beautiful, awesome, friendly wedding ever, where I hardly knew anyone but within a couple of hours of being there felt like I had been a friend of the family for twenty years! Drank way too much fizzy stuff!

We had a stag and hen do (different wedding) which looked like being a standard Saturday night in the pub until the hens turned up and it turned into a fantastic karaoke and dancing party never to be forgotten! Drank too much again but it seems the frenetic dancing and appalling singing were my weakest moments of the night!!! Fantastic again!!!

I also, unfortunately, had the funeral of my Uncle George. Well he is not an “official” uncle but him and my Aunty Gill looked after me a lot during my younger years after my father had died and when my mum was a single parent. So I am always grateful to Uncle George and we gave him a good and dignified send off!

In May I wrote two short articles for my website, 5 Steps To Happiness - How I Got So Happy, and Trouble Sleeping - Regain Control Of Your Mind And Fall Asleep Easily

Summary

May really was a fantastic month, social life was booming, poker results were great and health and fitness progressed (under tough circumstances).

June is going to be more of the same! Two weddings, one birthday and a few nights/days out watching England lose at football in the European Championships!

Bring it on baby!

Good luck everybody!

Chris. :)

$10,000 Journey - Winning Every Day!

I am happy to report three consecutive winning days! Not massive amounts by any means but it is nice to be on the up regularly!

Heads Up volume is still poor so I did play a little bit of 6 max but I am very slightly fatigued last few days so am happy to take it easy at the tables.

Poker Results (3 Days)

Profit = +$60
Hours played = 7.25
Hands played = 1050

Graph (Pointless!)

There are approximately 300 hands at Sky Poker not on here (cannot be tracked)...

I know at Sky Poker I had a hand where I 3bet AK and 3 barrelled AT7 rainbow, 2 turn, 5 river and villain called down with worse but I did not see his hand - won £30 there ($44). There was also a €40ish pot that was first hand at the table at Party Poker and PT4 does not seem to track the first hand so it is not in my database.

Fun Hands

Hand #1

This hand was early in a match. I 4 bet KK and she calls then with not much left behind I flop a set and she donk jams. Easy game eh!!?

By the way, if you ever hear me complain feel free to shoot me! ;)

Hand #2

Again I get the pleasure of 4 betting KK. This time the flop comes down AT7 with a flush draw on so I am not so thrilled. Villain does the job for me though…

$10,000 Journey

Okay, it is not fast but it is going up! I am very happy with the progress again, especially since the long break even stretch!

Other Stuff

Weight

I have put 1 pound back on over the three days which is fine. I actually think there was something stuck under my scales on Sunday as I put 3 back on the next day but 2 came back off again! Cheap scales!

Martial Arts

Had two classes of Wing Chun Kung Fu which were the best two I have had. Instructor is using pre-framing really well. For those who don’t know (I didn’t) this is where the reason for learning what you are about to learn is explained fully beforehand so you get more from the learning itself. Works really, really well for me as my learning ability is not my strongest asset!!!

Football - Euro 2016

So we are ever nearer the big kick-off! Next time I blog Russia will be top of Group B (I am English, I know what to expect!!!).

We have got a sweepstake going at work and I drew out Ukraine and Slovakia! As I always say - “Never Say Never”!!! Unless talking about England that is. England will NEVER win!!!! ;)

Let me know who you think will win amigos! I might put a bet on if you can convince me!!!

Good luck, whoever you follow!

Chris.

P.S. FWIW my real money is on Germany! ;)

Since I live in Germany for the last 3 years im gonna have to say Germany too or i'll get in trouble :f_biggrin:

But my gut feeling tells me Italy will win. No idea why. :f_ugly:

It's quite normal to fluctuate in weight depending on what you've eaten/drank. F.x sugars and other quick carbs makes you put on extra water etc so if you usually try to avoid it and then have a treat it could explain why. Nice work though, keep it up! :f_thumbsup:

$10,000 Journey - Slow Poker, Fast Beer!

It has been another few days of slow progress. Socialising is costing me heavily but it is a price I am more than willing to pay!

Poker Results (4 days)

Profit/loss = -$31
Hours played = 4.25
Hands played = 430

Again I just sat some HU tables and waited around for matches and not a lot happened. As I was in hangover mode this was more than suitable!!!

Graph

Break even at Sky Poker.

Biggest Pots

Hand #1

Standard play here where I find myself with AK preflop against a villain who likes to splash his money around…

Hand #2

When the fish starts min 3 betting and/or donking then I am getting interested…

There weren’t any “big” losing pots just a general outflow of smaller ones! ;)

$10,000 Journey

It is going along “okay”. Nothing to get excited about and nothing to concern me. Weddings, birthdays and football and the drinking that goes along with these things are affecting my volume badly! No problem with that though - I am having a ball!!!

Other Stuff

Fitness & Weight

Over the last 4 days I put 1.5 pounds back on but most of that was yesterday! Hangover caused me to need lot’s of stodgy food to help the recovery! Sunday night I just did not feel like sitting at the PC and probably would have been EV- anyway! So I had a massive Chinese take away instead! ;)

I have done 3 workouts (4 days). 100 push ups, 165 squats and 7 minutes of jump rope/skipping. I was all set for another couple of workouts on Saturday but kids homework seemed to take over (then pub of course) so it did not happen! No idea why 4 and 7 year olds even get homework to be honest but hey ho!

Football - Euros 2016

Well a couple of my predictions came to fruition…

Germany disposed of Ukraine but it was not the solid German performance I was expecting. They looked a bit weak in defence and had Ukraine not got so tired it could have easily been a different result!

England never fail to fail. The worst thing I heard was that the manager declared he would “be happy with a draw” before the game started. Typical English defeatist attitude. Harry Kane was top scorer in the English Premier League this season and yet we have got him taking the corners!!! Anyway, it was a game England should have won and they came away with a draw. No big problem but it was not winner’s mentality!

As far as watching the England game goes... I was drunk as a skunk by kick off so was more interested having a laugh if I am honest! I watched some of the Wales game beforehand too and it was great to see our neighbours score their first goal in a major tournament for 58 years!!! Nice that Gareth Bale got it too.

I am looking forward to our next big match… England v Wales this Thursday afternoon. I have booked the afternoon off work to watch it. Surely England will beat Wales? Or maybe the England Manager will take another draw!!!!!!!!!!? ;)

Have a great few days!

Chris. :)

Yes, having seen Germany play now I am not so sure. France did not look so good except for Payet. Maybe Italy is a good bet amigo!

Thanks for weight advice.

My Week - My Ego Is Dying And It Is Wonderful!

It has been another incredible week for me. A fantastic wedding, a most enjoyable Father's Day but most of all I am witnessing the death of my ego at an increasingly rapid rate - and the feeling is incredible.

My Ego - The Impending Death!

I am already writing an article which has the draft title "My Biggest Spiritual Realisation" - this is mainly going to be about the recognition of my ego and how recognising it first happened for me. It was a couple of years ago and since recognising the ego I have gradually learned how to transcend it (I cannot find a good word for that right now). There will be many articles to describe this and in a way I wish I had written them as it happened. Fortunately most of this journey is in my Journal so I can recite a lot of it over the near future. In fact maybe the articles will be of more value now, as they will have less "ego" in them than they might have had before!

For the purpose of this post (which is just a weekly summary) I will just say that this week has seen an immense, almost overwhelming, sense of Spiritual Awakening take over me. I really don't know how to put it into words. I feel like my purpose is to tell you about what has happened to me so that you might feel it too. It is so strange but I feel driven by something (I don't know what it is) to share my experience. I have always felt driven to do it but my ego was stopping me by saying things like "who do you think you are to talk to people about Spiritual Enlightenment?" and of course "you do not know enough about it yet, they will not listen, people will think you are a fool" and another strange one "people will think you are trying to sell them something". Now, as my ego dies and gets weaker it feels like those words and thoughts are not there any longer. It really feels like the time has come to just let it all out!!!

Poker - How Can That Be Spiritual!?

Interesting question! I would love comments on this please!

I had/have a challenge going that was originally "To make $10,000 profit playing poker in 40 weeks". Unintentionally the "40 weeks" part of it got forgotten by me (I don't play enough or even try to play enough to make that part happen). Now I have realised that the "$10,000" part of it has gone for me too!

Why? I just cannot get motivated by money or status or position. I cannot get motivated by an end result. I no longer believe that the end result is of any relevance/importance/value. It will not complete me and even if it made me feel great it will last minutes or hours, nothing more than that. That stuff is just not me any more.

I am not sure how much longer I will even play poker! I do still enjoy playing so I am not quite in a "I must stop playing now" position. I also owe a lot of my Spiritual Awakening to poker (another article to explain!) but I obviously won't play because of that. I have no answers at the moment to what the future holds for me and poker so I will keep playing and blogging about it and see where it goes.

Can it be Spiritual? I don't know. Whilst there seems something non-spiritual about taking other people's money off them there are also some arguments saying that people put their chips on the table to play for a reason that might not solely be for money. As I said, would love to hear views on this, I think it is really interesting.

Other Stuff

Health, Fitness, Weight

I have put on 1.5 pounds over the last 8 days. Of course I blame the wedding, the football and Father's Day ;) . Actually, joking aside, it felt like I had a fork in my hand for 3 days solid!!! And a pint glass in the other hand!!! ;)

I did 2 classes of Wing Chun Kung Fu, 150 push-ups, 181 squats, 7m20s on the rope. I will be taking my first grading at Wing Chun this week.

I will work harder on my body and my training. Strong body = strong mind right!?

Poker

Whilst I am not sure of my goals (or why I am even playing) I still want to keep you updated (for now) and show fun stuff!

Profit/Loss Week 34 = -$7
Total Profit for $10k Journey = $4168

I will be honest with you here and tell you that I "tilted" last week!!! That is kind of amusing after talking about Spiritual Awakening! I mean... A Zen Master would never get angry at something like that! Well of course I am not a Zen Master but my rising consciousness allowed me to quickly see it and it was gone immediately! And I had a good laugh at myself in the process too.

Here are the two hands for those interested...

Hand 1

Hand 2

No big deal!

Social etc

Went to a great wedding on Saturday. Two of my very good friends finally got married having been together for what seems like an eternity! They both looked so happy it was a wonderful experience just watching them. Later in the day the experience got even better as the bar was free for at least four hours and judging by my head the morning afterwards I took full advantage!!! ;)

Father's Day was great (this was the day after the wedding ouch!). I got a new ruck sack (for Kung Fu) and I had another couple of beers and a Chinese take away the size of a small car!!! ;)

Oh yeah, almost forgot EURO 2016! England are through to the knockout stages without entirely convincing me. Congratulations to Wales who got through as well. hopefully England will start finding the back of the net and win a few games more!

Next Week

As I say, I will be taking my first grading at Wing Chun. I am looking forward to seeing where I am at.

I have just got a copy of 21 Days to Master Success and Inner Peace which I will spend the next 21 days (or so) putting into practice. I have only just started to read Dr. Dyer's work. I am surprised at the title. I was thinking... Why would he sell a book about "success"? Then I remembered the title of my website! Needless to say it is only the Inner Peace bit that interests me!

Have a great week amigos. As I mentioned, lots of articles to come about my Spiritual Awakening. Make sure you are subscribed on my website to get them straight to your inbox!

To your fantastic life,

Chris. :)

Nice post.
Spirituality & poker & whether they can co-exist in a truly ethical life is something I have been contemplating a lot. I think at its foundation playing poker for income provides no inherent value to the planet or any living thing on it. Yet my mind will debate this theory in many ways, I need income too, I will spend it consciously, the flexibility of poker allows me to volunteer my time for others that would otherwise be spent at a job, it seems most jobs provide little or no value towards human consciousness or the environment, i plan to travel the world volunteering and poker is the only way to make $ online that I know to achieve this.
Been in limbo on this for few months and like you has dropped my motivation/volume.
Can I really continue on this path knowing my form of income just takes from others their earned $ probably from their timehole shitty jobs they dont enjoy hence why they trying to make $ a different way (assumption) & feed the pokerstars machine.
I feel like all players should ask themselves this, probably should have its own thread.
Look forward to further discussion. :f_drink:

$10,000 Journey - Crushing Poker!!!

I was not able to play many hours these last couple of days. My wife needed some help to submit a rather complicated planning application to the local council on behalf of the school she works at (it was ridiculously complicated form). For the few hours I had available I decided to play mostly 6max Zoom because I would like to keep my Silver Status and I just wanted to play a lot! Fortunately the poker gods were looking down on me for these hands and I ended up crushing at over 50bb/100!!! Of course it is very small sample but it sure was fun!!!

Poker

Results

Profit = +$75
Hand played = 1200
Hours played = 3

Graph (3 hours)

Embrace the variance!!!

Thanks to crushing at ~13bb/100 for the last 10k hands I have got back to break-even point at 6 max now…

This is all NL10 Zoom. It took me a while to adjust to some preflop ranges (having played heads up for 2 years) so I assume that is one of the reasons for the downer but then the upper is mostly due to variance I reckon!

$10,000 Journey

Total profit is now at $4243

I might concentrate on 6 max Zoom for the next few sessions so I can maintain my Silver Status this month and see if I can get to NL25. I will probably look to get to around 30,000 hands and see if my win rate deserves taking a shot!

Fun Hands

Here are some of the big pots from this session where I was crushing with 50bb/100…

Hand #1 - 33

I think there are 2 mistakes here. I should bet flop bigger (nearly pot) and I should jam river as played. Nice river raise from the fish ;)

Hand #2 - 44

That one plays itself for me.

Hand #3 - AA

I don't like my play here (again).

I should be setting up an easy river jam with a slightly bigger bet on the turn but I should still jam the river anyway as I think AQ and KQ are a big part of his range and I think they will call often. When he raised river I was not that thrilled as 99 is in his range and I am not sure he bluffs much here.

Hand #4 - A lesson in crushing with KK...

Er, no comment…

Other Stuff

Health, Weight, Fitness

I had my first grading at Wing Chun Kung Fu over 2 nights and I think it went well!? Will find out next week. Enjoyed it immensely as it showed me where I am at.

I put a few pounds on over the weekend (wedding and Father’s Day to blame) but it has come off again quite easily just by eating properly the last 3 days…

As you can see I have stayed around the same weight for a month now. I am totally okay with that. It is still around the lowest point and I have had 3 weddings and EURO 2016 to contend with so am happy it has not gone up too much!!!

EURO 2016

So England now know their next opponent… Iceland v England next Monday. Surely England will start to pump some goals in!!!!!!!!!???????

Have a great weekend!

Chris. :)

$10,000 Journey - Time To Take A Shot!?

I played only 6 max Zoom these last few sessions and was again winning at a decent rate. Silver status at Pokerstars is almost earned for June and I am thinking about taking a shot at NL25.

Results (4 days)

Profit = +$35
Hands played = 4912
Hours played = 9.66

Graph

It is good to be playing more hands again! I get to appreciate variance a bit more this way! I was mostly playing 3 tables of NL10 Zoom but sometimes just 2 tables. I find sometimes after a long day I start to lack focus playing 3 but on the whole this has improved a lot. I can see me trying 4 tables soon to see how that goes!

Time To Take A Shot!?

I am enjoying playing 6 max again and am really enjoying the Zoom format (I never played this before by the way!). I started at NL10 to see how it would go and the first 10k hands was quite tough. In fact I was down 14 buy-ins after only 11,700 hands! Since that low point it has turned round and I am now back in profit (for this format) and overall winrate is approaching 2bb/100. Of course that is still low but the current upswing is suggesting it is worth me taking a shot at NL25 Zoom.

Here is the graph since the low point…

Still the sample is small but the winrate is so high I am tempted to “bite the bullet” and take a shot. What do you think? (I am very well rolled for this by the way)

$10,000 Journey

Well, the graph continues to climb. This is great because I feel like it climbs now whilst I am NOT TRYING!!! I play for fun and am relaxed completely and, therefore, make better decisions. I could make more money “bumhunting” heads up NL50 and NL100 but I don’t enjoy that so much right now.

My current thought is this… Play Zoom when I am feeling relatively fresh and “up for it”, then on other evenings where I am jaded and tired I will open the heads up tables and take the more relaxed option (it is more relaxed due to waiting for fish to join my tables sometimes).

As for the NL25 shot, all advice is welcome!

Fun Hands

Hand #1

Standard hand…

Man he really had to realize his equity there eh!!?

Hand #2

Here the fish is up to usual tricks…

And I use the Law Of Attraction - just in case ;)

Hand #3

Here I go for a river overbet as the fish cannot fold!!!

Well, I was not expecting that!!! I need to over bet the nuts more often ;)

Other Stuff

Brexit

Well, I guess I cannot post without mentioning that the UK has voted to leave the European Union (EU). I think a lot of people here are surprised if not shocked. I have no opinion. What I do think is terrible is that this decision, that people are talking about as a huge decision for our country, has been handed over to a general public that has been largely misinformed throughout the campaign and is mostly not educated well enough (on this subject) to make that decision. I also cannot understand why Mr.Cameron had to do it now whilst our economy and the European economy is still not out of trouble from the recent financial crises.

EURO 2016

Erm, er, well, let me see… Well done Iceland!!! :)

A truly shocking campaign from England in this championship. We played Russia, Wales, Slovakia and Iceland before our embarrassing exit (seems we want NOTHING to do with Europe at all any more!). We should beat all of those teams and yet we only beat Wales and even that was in the 94th minute!

There are some great players in the England team. Our only weakness is the centre half pairing. Yet the management have continued to play a style that just does not work for this set of players. It was only right that the manager resigned immediately after the game but it was only a matter of hours before the English FA did it for him anyway.

Okay, I am off to write out two job applications now. Prime Minister of UK and England Football Manager! I am sure I can not do any worse!!! ;)

Have a good week!

Chris.

It's not much, usually you win $1 or $2, somtimes $5 but since they clear just by playing your normal game its a few extra ice creams for the kids on vacation :f_thumbsup:

PS. You have to opt in daily, don't forget to do it or it won't count!

Hi guys,

Just published this article talking about the defining moment for me when my life turned around from being the seeker of fulfilment and inner peace to actually having those things and no longer needing to "become".

I hope you enjoy "The Day My Life Turned Around". Feel free to ask questions, comment, love, hate and please share if you do like.

Chris.

$10,000 Journey - Let’s Make Quads!

It was a good couple of days at the tables. I hit a couple of coolers but I ran good sometimes too (see below)! Seemed to be a bit more 3 betting going on at NL10 last couple of days - did somebody write a new article or something!!!? ;)

Results (2 days)

Profit = +$14
Hands played = 2134
Hours Played = 4.25

Graph (2 days)

The Upswing Continues…

Biggest Pots (2 days)

Hand #1

Standard get it in with KK preflop, was a little surprised at his hand at NL10 but was of course happy to see it!

------------------------

Hand #2 - Quads Time!!!

This was funny as villain went potty in chat about that river and of course called it off anyway!

-------------------------------

Hand #3 - It is still quads time!!!

I probably could have check raised river here as he should still bet Qx but I have this deep fear of a check back when I have the nuts!!!!!!!

$10,000 Journey Update

Need to push on next month and get to the halfway mark! ;)

Will not play tonight as my daughter is in a big dance show that I am really looking forward to going to see. I will take a shot at NL25 Zoom in July and next time will I will summarise June.

Other Stuff

Weight

I have sort of hit a plateau over the last month BUT I have been to so many weddings and parties etc that I have to take that as a good thing. I think in previous years I would have put on weight with so much booze and food going around!

I am at the lowest weight I have been (third time of weighing this much during “challenge”). I have lost 17 pounds (8kg) which is great but I am still 7 pounds away from where I would like to be. Watch this space!!!

Martial Arts

I passed my grading at Wing Chun Kung Fu (to be honest I think the first one is given to you! ;) ). I am picking up speed with my learning and am really loving it!

Life is great!!! :)

Have a fantastic weekend,

Chris.

$10,000 Journey - June 2016 Was Magnificent!

June was a magnificent month for me personally (have you noticed a trend yet!?). My life reaches levels of inner peace, happiness and fulfilment that I only ever dreamed were possible. More layers of mind/ego fall away leaving a state of pure joy!

Poker

Profit = +$153
Hands Played = 13,400
Hours Played = 49.5

Graphs

Heads Up

6max

So that was the lowest amount of hours I played in a month since I left CFP (Sept 2015). I put this down to the fact I have a much more relaxed attitude to playing now. I am not striving for anything and that is good for me. I play to enjoy it (and I do!).

I played a lot more 6 max this month. Heads Up is gradually dying and here in UK it is even more difficult (than some places) to get action. If I was playing purely to make money I would still bumhunt the heads up tables but I am currently enjoying playing 6 max and right now enjoyment is better for me than dollars (easy to say now holidays are “paid for”).

July poker goals - I am moving away from this word “goals” as I don’t need them any more. I will take a shot at NL25 Zoom immediately. I am not sure about 6 max v heads up right now. I am fairly sure I will play 6 max at first and take the shot. I will get my Silver Status for the next month and who knows, maybe have a look at getting Gold!? I have no goals of hands, money or hours. Nice eh!?

Biggest Pots

Biggest Winner

This was the hand where I “willed” the river and it worked! ;)

Biggest Loser

This was against a fish. Couple of people told me to check fold river…

$10,000 Journey

I am at $4293. It is going to be a bit slower just for the reason that I cannot profit at 6 max so much YET! Hopefully I can get up to NL25 and higher in future and it will speed up again!

Other Stuff

Fitness, Weight, Health

I did 3 squats workouts, 3 push up workouts and 4 rope workouts. Trained at Wing Chun Kung Fu class 9 times and passed my first grading! I would like to do more squats and push up workouts this month, I know when I am looking after my body that my mind is strong and in a good place (not the other way around).

I finished the month at 13 stone 2.75 pounds (184.75 pounds, 83.8kg) which is the lowest I have been (but third time there!). I started the month at 13 stone 4 pounds so nothing lost really but then it was a month of exuberance so I am not complaining! Hopefully in July I might break through the 13 stone barrier so I have the perfect beach body for my holiday in August!!? ;)

Social

I had the long awaited wedding of my good friends Kevin & Louise in June which was a magnificent occasion. Also went to the evening party for the wedding of my friends Mary & Johnnie which was a lovely evening too. Of course the alcohol consumed was outrageous on both of these occasions so some memory loss has occurred! ;)

Had a couple of fun beer sessions with my mates for the England matches in EURO 2016. England did exactly as I predicted and managed to fail on a scale that we have not managed before. Of course they were great drinking sessions with the amigos though so no worries!! ;)

The Magnificent Mental Game Of Life

My constant search for personal improvement knows no bounds. It really gets better every single day. My understanding of life is at a stage now where I feel total control of emotions and state and am constantly fulfilled. It took me a long time to get here but boy it is worth it. Nothing fazes me now and I hope to be able to continue to share my enjoyment of life with as many people as possible.

The biggest mental change for me in June was my improvement in how I react to people who I previously had hate or anger towards. People do what they do relative to their current level of consciousness and awareness. It is not for me to judge what is right or wrong in another. Everything that is happening is happening for a reason so I stay in a state of constant allowing. It is still a “work in progress” for me but I am finding it much much easier to get along with people that I previously struggled with and that can only be a good thing.

So much still to learn and so many barriers still to remove but it is coming fast for me now and is a source of great peace.

I posted this article to my website in June... The Day My Life Turned Around

Bring on July! More personal growth, more giving, and maybe a bit of weight loss! ;)

Chris.

P.S. I will be thinking about this a lot in July… With regard to the world - am I giving or taking - and how does that feel?

Looks really great! I think with you as well when you are busy with self-improvement, you 'kinda' automatically get way better results, isn't it?

Hi amigos!!!

If anybody is (or knows of) a coach or staking stable that specialises in maths of poker (probably GTO ofc) then could you let me know or get in touch with me please?

Chris.

Hi man! Sorry for delay - been sick in bed for days!

I do agree that self improvement probably helps you with everything. However, I have spent many years trawling the self improvement industry and there is some crap stuff out there (but it might help some people in some way - just usually will be short term imo).

The overall thing is... If you keep working on finding yourself and finding wtf this is all about then one day you are going to find it. And fk me it is worth it when you do!!!!!!! :)
