Decisions, Decisions...

At first I thought I was up against some bad beats. Afterwards I thought it is my tactical game that is flawed, which still could be. However, now I think it is my mental state again as I am about to make some decisions what I will do next month. The thought of having options in front of me while the time is ticking and my progress seemed slow was killing me. I just have no patience when certain things are out of my hands and I cannot seem to influence the pace of progression. However, last week I saw an opportunity, which re-opened a new door for me and I felt much better from there. I need a few days for clarification on all the aspects on this option and when I have, I can finally make the decision and put this thing through. This most probably will clear my mind.

Isn't this where life is all about? Making decisions all the time. Poker isn't any different. We aren't playing cards. Same as stock brokers aren't really buying and selling shares or CEOs inventing new strategies and enhance their vision of the corporation. All we do are making decisions. We are creating our day from the moment we wake up. As long as we crave for growth in any way, we should accept this.

Thanks for your message. Yeah, I think I increased mostly recognition in the game and myself and not yet highly improved gameplay and skills, which is fine right now. I indeed will probably combine the two but it will be part-time work and I would probably not be able to focus on poker next to it, same as during the period I was studying for my Gmat because of the reasons mentioned in my blog.

The bottom line is this: I have difficulties in choosing because I want to avoid settling because one of my 2 drives is recognition.
However, I may have the solution finally Will definitely keep you updated!

Next to that, I know now what I have to focus with regards to my tactical game. Seems my equity knowledge is far below the norm and to play more advance, I need to realize my equity constantly.

Status Update

I am finally in the process of making a step towards my future plans. I cannot say much about it but once I get all the approvals I will update you all

As for poker, I am still playing a good deal of hands. Hope I can keep it up with the side challenge I have as well
I am also more involved with equity calculations for realising my equity. I realise that I have very little knowledge in how much equity I have in certain situations. This also makes me fold unnecessary hands but also bet when I do not have enough equity to bet. One goal I am working on right now is to make me more aware of my equity postflop for optimal play.

H1: Vs this betsizing we have to call down. I guess you should work on your potodds knowledge as well

H2: I don't think this board is super ideal for cbetting, it hits his calling ranges pretty hard and we don't have much backdoor outs (fd outs) and just 1 overcard.

vs this guy VPIP: 92, PFR: 53, 3B: 0 I'm definitely calling river here. Here not only equity comes into play, also connect it with potodds. $0.82 to win 2,91 = we need to be ahead 1 in 3 times (29%) to break even.

Well, the problem with H1 is I called down because I got good odds but when these micros bet 3 streets it sometimes feels that I don't win often enough to justify the call, but that is probably an illusion I have called down many hands for this price and won so I think I shouldn't worry about the outcome here (he had KJ).

Hand 2 I definitely shouldn't bet OTF, I actually don't know why I did it Perhaps paying attention is a leak in my game as well ♦

Holiday Off

It's time for a bit of holiday! Last week was a super busy week with clearing all the stuff for my leave from Thailand and go back to Europe for another adventure The great thing is, the more I learn about myself the more I get exposed to the freedom of choice. I signed up for a University and am waiting for approval to be admitted, which I think should be fine because former fellow students are already studying there.

This week I will be on holiday but I will be grinding and watching along with The PokerStrategy.com Summer Challenges with vonki
I hope you will all be watching along as we can learn a great deal from her plus the side challenges are a lot of fun! I will definitely join and so should you! This is a great chance to get back to the forum where the heat of the discussion is constantly on the rise!

Updates

What a week! I had a great holiday in Koh Chang. Relaxed and eased my mind good time Had some drinks near the sea, arranged some stuff and finished my 'to-do-list' for the week I am totally ready to go back to the Netherlands. I do find it a shame of the things that have happened but in the end I think it was well worth the time I have spent here in Thailand. I have worked heavily on myself during my assignments from The Mental Game of Poker. I have not only learned more about myself but also how to approach learning, a great treatment was this. I am more than confident to start with my Masters in September and all the duties next to it involved

Summer Challenges with Vonki

The same week I haven't been only sleeping at the beach. I did do my portion of grinding with the Summer Challenges with Vonki I really enjoy the sessions and the clear explanations she gives. Everyone who looks along gets a glimpse of the way grinding works best at the micros It is a true privilege to get free coaching sessions from Vonki and I would definitely recommend this to any micro stakes player!

I have successfully finished the first week (the daily grind) and look forward to the next challenge next week. What a great initiative from PokerStrategy!
This also shows me that I definitely can play more hands than I was telling in my blog and myself. Perhaps I just needed a little push. I know that I sometimes need this to keep me going otherwise I fall behind. That's why with poker I just need to keep myself busy and play along with others to keep my energy level optimal.

It's been a hectic week since I've been back. Re-migration isn't easy Had some good and bad luck along the way but I'm still alive!
