Villain is unknown

Flop: I hose to check behind here as I felt I was in a "way ahead / way behind" situation. If I bet I think it has to be a bet/fold. He will have sets and AJ. He may x/c with QQ/KK sometimes Jx, but he may be the type of player to fold these hands. So, I felt that by checking behind I keep in his weaker range as well (Jx, QQ/KK AQ). I also control the pot in cases where I am behind and don't have to worry too much about behind outdrawn on this texture. I don't think I want to be playing for stacks or going for three streets given the SPR's in this situation anyway. If I did I think I would be mostly crushed unless villain overplays AQ.

Turn: Considered raising, but felt that might be overplayed and that I would often only ISO myself vs a stronger range, so decided to call instead. Although now there is a flush draw so I could raise to extract value from draws as well.

River: Should I ever bother raising here? Just in case villain goes mad with Jx/QQ/KK?

Checking behind TPTK on the dry board is OK and as played call turn and river is fine. No need to raise turn, as I doubt AQ would call a raise and he has also JJ and AJ. Same with river - if you get called it would be mostly for split, no need to pay more rake.

Think bet/folding the flop is better than checking behind?

You are not checking behind because you are behind in the hand, but to keep his range wide, maybe to induce some bluffs on later streets.... It would be easier to get 1 street value from QQ ott than otf. Plus it would be good to balance, so you will have some strong hands ott also. Otherwise you would be betting all your TPTK + hands otf and would check with the weaker hands like KK, thus making your turn range really weak.

Bet / fold would almost never happen, simply because villain would rarely raise your bet on the dru flop.

We should bet flop and turn for value

Checking back is fine here imo, but I also prefer cbetting flop and turn. As played, we have to call turn and river.

XB flop might not be bad but I still prefer cbetting there. As played you have to call turn and river. I wouldn't raise.
